English Harbour Nelson's Dockyard Hotels

"This was a lovely beach cottage, perched above a beautiful beach. Easy path down to the beach, and everything you need for the beach: chairs, towels, snorkeling equipment, etc. we were wow’d to find milk, bread, butter, cheese, eggs, bacon, & coffee on arrival. Very comfortable king size bed, great pillows and sheets. Extremely nice open port over beach, which is were we spent the majority of our time when not on the beach. VERY steep driveway that was easy to navigate once we did a reconnaissance and understood how to best navigate. Nathan was very responsive and the grounds, maintenance and cleaning staff were very warm and helpful. We would definitely stay here again. "

"The staff were all very nice and welcoming and helpful. As for the room it looked like it had seen better days. The bathroom had cracked tiles and there was zero water pressure in the shower and at one point the water turned off all together. There was one single desk chair in the room and we had to bring in the balcony chairs inside just to have somewhere to sit down. I’m sure this room used to be nice when the hotel was first build but it looks like they haven’t done any refreshing or updating of the rooms since. Also we were kind of surprised at the lack of amenities. There was no pool. The gym was unavailable and there really just wasn’t anything on property other than the spa which we didn’t visit. A lot of money for a run down hotel. "

"Extremely comfortable stay. Amazing views and covered outdoor seating area provided a welcome breeze and shade. Lots to see and do around English Harbour area. We were lucky enough to see a turtle while snorkelling off the small beach at the side of Galleon Beach. Also visited the Loose Cannon Beach bar a few times for sundown drinks and food. "

"Excellent stay and lovely staff. English harbour is really nice and recommend getting a car to visit other sides of the island Boom restaurant was good food and Gunpowder suites genuine 10/10 experience "

"This place was absolutely incredible. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. The space itself has such a funky, beautiful vibe — stylish, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed in a way that made it feel special and relaxing at the same time.One of the things we loved most was the location. The trailhead is literally at the bottom of the driveway, which made morning hikes so easy and magical. The beaches are also just minutes away, so every day felt like the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation.The hosts truly went above and beyond with what they provided. Everything we could possibly need was already there, and then some. It made the entire stay effortless and comfortable.We had such an amazing time and honestly didn’t want to leave. I can’t wait to come back."

"Had a lovely stay at the Ocean Inn. Had a beautiful view of Admiral’s Harbour and a cool breeze blowing. The staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend. "

"When we arrived at the Copper and Lumber store they had double booked our room for 2 or the 5 nights. When we explained we hadn't heard from neither them or expedia and in fact had a check in reminder they offered nothing advising we had to find alternate accommodation. We spent over 5+ hours going between the hotel and expedia as neither party wanted to take ownership/payment of any new accomodation options for us even though they had the $2500 from my existing reservation. This hotel does not care and if you are traveling alone please be warned you could be on an island alone without accommodation so please have a back up plan. Also good to note their fish fry Friday they speak of on the website is subpar and served cold! By far one of the worst travel experiences I have had."

"The rooms are in the perfect location, well presented with key essentials and the manager very professional and accommodating after expedia double booked us at our first hotel the Galleon beach did not hesitate to allow us to check in earlier to ensure we weren't left without accommodation. "

"Sitting hillside above Galleon Beach is this small but functional apartment with a view that is frankly exceptional, and a plunge pool that makes your stay enjoyable even if you spend most of the time exploring the island beaches. Arrange with Yori to have Sheppy transport meet you at the airport, make a stop at First Choice grocery for water, English Bay rum and beer, then sit back and learn about the island from one of best taxi drivers on this planet. The neighborhood is gated somewhat. The stairs up are not easy, but you will get used to them as us 70 y/os did. Travel time from airport abt 1 hour, 50US. Arrange with Sheppy for rides to other beaches. He is always on time. The roads on the island are not for the faint of heart. We are coming back. We are pretty certain you will too."
