Comfortable accommodations for our family of 10, plenty of room to spread out. We enjoyed the pool and shady porch as we watched deer in the evening.

Perfect Family Place!

We had the most wonderful 4 night vacation in this house! Three rooms for couples to sleep in and two rooms for kids- perfect! The outdoor areas and swings were so fun. There is a fox family and bee hive to see also. The river and Wimberly are gorgeous.

Nice home and Lot.Lots of Room for family enjoyment. A good time was had by all. Cookware could be updated,enoug HOT WATER was a problem for showering. Our stay was enjoyed by all.

Great place for the family to play!

Plenty of things to do for kids. Horses behind the property is a fun addition. Plenty of deer passing through the property too. I would stay here again if we make it back to Wimberly.

Great house!

We really enjoyed our stay at Sheperd's Lodge. There was plenty of room for our entire family. The house has great amenities. The only thing I would suggest is organizing the kitchen and do a deep cleaning under furniture.

We really enjoyed our stay at this house, was very relaxing and quiet. We had a little trouble operating the hot tub but they came out quick and helped us resolve the issue and got it running. By far one of our best stays so far.

Great Memories for our Family

Our family recently lost the elder male of our tribe. Deciding to celebrate my wife’s 40th birthday with our family at this beautiful home was a great decision. The spacious and functional home was second to the deck and pool/hot tub combo. The home facilitated fun and great memories for our family but also healing. Maybe that is why it is called the Shepherd House?

Girl’s Weekend

We had such a great time in Wimberley for Girl’s weekend!! The house was exactly as I expected it, and when we ran into trouble with running the dishwasher and lighting the fireplace, the property manager sent someone out right away to fix it. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, and we were able to cook a couple meals together. The hot tub was amazing and easy to operate. Highly recommend and will definitely consider this property again in the future visits to Wimberley.

Family Get-Away

Beautiful home!!!! We were blown away when we walked in. The home is immaculate!! The layout is perfect and the interior is decorated to perfection. The home was SUPER CLEAN from top to bottom. It is a short 3 min walk down to the Blanco river. Our kids enjoyed the spacious property adorned with tree swings and plenty of room to play ball. They found the ping-pong table located in the back shed which made for many battles throughout the evenings. To top it off....We had a daily deer visitor which came right up to the back porch, as well as evening fireflies to light up the night sky. Overall, this was just what our family needed. WE WILL BE BACK!!

Great house, great location

We were notified a couple days before check in that there was construction on the front porch, which we were disappointed by because we thought it would be a lovely space to take a family photo. The front door is locked out with zip ties because of the construction, but I wonder if this could be a safety hazard for emergency egress. The hot tub was fantastic! Beds were comfortable. Bathrooms were clean. We found some significant dirt under the couches (when the toddler lost a race car under there), and we were not given any spare toilet paper, but the property manager came and brought us some. The horses on the next door property were lovely to watch. We loved that the kitchen table expanded from 8 to 12 seats. The oven was a little slow, but it worked. There was a leak under the kitchen sink that we informed the property manager about. We did have a pool cleaning service show up un announced and the contractor for the construction was out there after briefly we were told there wouldn't be anyone doing construction. We did enjoy our stay. Wimberly is a lovely place to unplug.

Great family retreat - pool is wonderful’

Check in and out was fast- property is as represented. Clean comfortable accommodations for our group of 11 ranging in ages from 6-70. Kids loved the bunk room, pool, deer sightings, tree house and porch games. Adults loved porch , grill area, easy river access and kitchen. Plenty of room for our group as far as sleeping, playing, relaxing, and eating. Kitchen well supplied and easy to work in ( ice maker was out but we had picked up ice in town). Quiet country area with deer . The pool was amazing… the kids couldn’t wait to jump in ! Water Volleyball net for older teens/ nice spa hot tub for adults to relax in . Beautiful yard with lights strung around and fantastic propane grill area. Wood staircase was a little noisy but it made it easy to know when the kids were awake! Kitchen has most common small appliances and nice gas stove, plenty of plates/glasses/cookware for preparing meals. Most common necessities were there- soap/ shampoo/TP/ dishwasher soap / trash bags/cleaners/ potholders- there were only two kitchen towels but they do have LOTS of bath and pool towels for your use! We’d stay there again! We made fantastic memories ❤️

Great home and amazing property. Unfortunately a few issues.

My family and I recently stayed here for a family reunion weekend and we truly loved the home. It was a great size for our group of 8 adults and 3 kids. It is nicely stocked with all your cooking and dining basics and we loved being able to cook in the kitchen and not feel crowded. And we really loved the pool area, wrap around porch and deck. The property is amazing and we even had a lovely visit from the neighbors horses who were kind enough to let us pet them. We really liked that the pool was gated and safe and that the property was located so close to town. Its a short walk down to the river which was so nice to go explore even though there is not much water in there now. The kids still loved exploring the riverbed. Unfortunately we did have a few issues. The main being the bed count being misleading. It advertises enough beds for 12 people but it is really only 11. And with that being said, one of the rooms is just a twin trundle bed with no trundle! So you can really only sleep one person in that room which is weird for a vacation home. There is a bunkroom with 2 sets of bunkbeds which is great if you have kids but an adult isn't really going to want to sleep in a bunk bed with kids so it kind of throws off the sleeping count. I would definitely suggest putting either a queen bed or a trundle in that room with the trundle bed so that the room can host 2 and then the home will actually sleep 12. It made for some uncomfortable sleeping for two members of our party. We also had issues with the downstairs shower not getting hot water and some sink leaking in the kitchen. The management team did respond to a few of my questions which I appreciated and overall we did really have a nice time in the home. Its a beautiful house and if they could add that extra or larger bed we will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful time staying at this house! The house is spacious and has huge dining areas inside and outside for big meals. The kitchen was very well equipped with cooking tools and pots and pans. Pool was beautiful and everything was clean and ready for us when we got there! Definitely recommend.

NYE Getaway

The house was perfect for our group. Super close to Wimberley Square and H-E-B, which was nice. The house was clean and accommodated all our needs. Property manager also very easy to get into contact with when we needed help turning on the hot tub. Downstairs water never got hot but we just took turns upstairs. One room was advertised as only having a twin bed, but it actually ended up being a Queen which was perfect! We will for sure be back.

NO RIVER ACCESS

Two families (ten people) ages 8-50 booked this place just after Christmas to have a little hill country getaway because it listed that there was river access across the street. It was a focus of the trip to walk down there with the littler kids in the mornings to do a little fishing with uncles and cousins. There is actually NO real access at all. I mean, you can go where they tell you and immediately get into the water - but it is all private property on either side of the bridge. When we tried to address this with them they told us that we should just fish off of the bridge - but there are signs saying that is not allowed. It is very clear from the signs and fences that no one is supposed to be there. The company is not taking any responsibility for this misrepresentation. Clearly they market it as having river access bc not only is it in the listing, but when we contacted them about where to go (bc we saw all the no trespassing signs and assumed we were just in the wrong place) they responded with maps and pictures saying that was the place that had access. I then got a message a day early saying we needed to be out by 10am. No one responded to my messages - so we left. Still haven’t heard from them about what is going on. Sure hope they give us our money back for that last night. Have a complaint with VRBOThe property is also pretty old and tired. I can see how it was once nice, but they aren’t cleaning it well or fixing things. Not worth the money.

Shepherd's Lodge Weekend

We gathered at Shepherd's Lodge for a family wedding in the area. The house worked out well for the members we had with us. The pool and the outside porches were great to enjoy the warm weather. We were disappointed to learn that the 1st floor shower did not get hot water as we had family member's that didn't do well with stairs. This had been shown in previous reviews, but we thought repairs would have been completed. The kitchen sink faucet was very loose. It functioned fine but was a bit difficult to maneuver. Great location so close to Wimberly. Overall, great time had by all.
