very nice cottage

I loved the view from house of lake and the dock we put our boat on being right at the house. Also loved that the public landing was around corner from the cottage.

Yellow house on Damriscotta Lake

The location of this house was ideal for our family, located right on the water with a private dock. Our kids love to fish and were able to do so early in the morning and late into the evening because the water was right there. Also brought our kayaks and spent several relaxing hours on the peaceful water. The house has plenty of towels, linens and kitchen items to make your stay feel like home. The bedroom upstairs was very nice with a great view of the water.

Great vacation and perfect location.

Property was very nice. A few things needed upgrades. The grill was rusty and we couldn’t use it. The bathtub needed a grab bar. The treads to the dock were very slippery when wet because of mold. And a couple of treads leading down to dock were loose. We enjoyed boating and fishing was great. It was also nice to have boat ramp so close to cottage and our boat right on our dock.

Have called twice and texted vacasa informing them of septic issues and rodent issues at this house. We had to leave after one night. We checked out after one night and noticed property manager immediately. We were told we would get a call back and STILL have not.

Enjoyable but needs some attention.

This cottage is right on the edge of a beautiful lake and is easily accessible to Damariscotta. We visited in mid-October when there was little activity on the lake and it was very quiet. The state and comfort of the house was a mix. Bathrooms and the bedrooms were clean. There were plenty of bath towels/face cloths etc. The upstairs bed was very comfortable and one has a sense of being perched right over the lake from this charming room.

Ideal location. Slight house improvements can be easily done.

This is one of the best locations we’ve found in Maine. Lovely breezes right on the lake. Loons every morning and evening and eagles soaring over to their nest on the island across the way. We brought canoes and paddled our to Spectacle Island for the rope swing over the water. And the location is a great launching point for all sorts of midcoast attractions. Some constructive feedback for this property. There were some basic/essential housewares missing: We were given no contact info for a local property manager/ contact. Fortunately we didn’t need one during our stay. There were no sheets for the pull out bed. We had to run into town to buy them. We left them at the house. For a house with no dishwasher it was strange that there were no dish towels in the kitchen. We had to use wash cloths. This is the first rental property in Maine I’ve seen without a lobster pot. Someone had been eating lobster because there were some crackers and meat picks. We bought a pot and left it with the house. Several of the dishes in the cabinet were dirty/greasy when we arrived. We washing all the dishes in the cabinet. For a house that accommodates 6 there should be more than 3 bowls. There was an occasional septic smell when we ran the laundry machine.

Excellent location, home needs maintenance.

This rental was not a last-minute decision for us we've been planning on it since November 2018 when we secured the rental. While the location was excellent the property had issues. We were three adult couples three brothers and the wives. One couple sleeping in the first floor bedroom almost left after the first night because the first night of sleeping was so uncomfortable no one got any sleep. I would recommend that this rental is for two adults and four children based on the sleeping accommodations. The only way we were able to stay was by going to Walmart and buying an air mattress and moving the dining table and blowing up the air mattress and leaving the air mattress in the dining room table location and then moving it every morning one person was on the air mattress one person stayed in the bed in the first floor bedroom. Other areas that need fixing. -all the living room screens let bugs in. A major issue with ventilation and cooling. -the oven didn’t heat well, although the stove worked fine. -the dock is stable but in disrepair with lots of splinters and paint flaking off everyplace. No ladder, which makes it unswimmable due to the landscaping around the shoreline. -the downstairs bathroom sink had to be unclogged when we arrived and this was a recurring problem. -the general landscaping to the water access needs work. We still had a great time since this is such a great location but were a bit disappointed in the condition of the rental. -

Perfect fall weekend

Enjoyed a quick weekend getaway on the lake in Newcastle. It was a great place to rest and watch the changing season with beautiful islands and fishing all close to town for oysters, a river cruise, and a nearby brewery. Appreciate that you are dog-friendly as well!

Dangerous dock and more on the lake

We were so looking forward to our week at this lovely place, and it was quite nice, at first glance. Then, it was one thing after another. In the interest of keeping this brief, I’ll just say that, 1. It was summer and most of the windows did not open, so there was no air circulation, nor was there even one air conditioner in a window. 2. Renting a house on a lake with a dock that is falling apart, doesn’t have stairs and is dangerous is unacceptable. We left 2 days early.

Amazing location and cabin

Incredible little cabin in a stunning location right next to the lake. Loved the rustic look and the beautiful views of the lake. Definitely recommend getting up early to watch the sunrise come over the lake.

Beautiful spot, great views!

This place was very clean and had terrific views. It was great for us and our two daughters for the weekend. The highlight was using the campfire pit on Saturday night looking out on the lake. The maintenance staff person was incredibly helpful - got us set up with a propane tank to use the grill. Highly recommend.

True lakefront getaway

This rental has amazing views, especially from the master bedroom. It is old dog friendly, our Bernese mountain dog was super comfortable sleeping downstairs. We visited in early spring, which is always a roll of the dice, so it was a bit cold and rainy but we still found time to visit a few breweries and take a walk in Boothbay Harbor which is only about 25 minutes away. The only thing missing was a tea kettle and a good coffee maker, but we can bring them with us next time we visit. This rental provided a well needed relaxing and restful weekend.

Beautiful, cozy home

This property was amazing and super cozy even with the colder weather. The only bummer was the dock wasn’t in the water yet, so I think returning here in the warmer weather would make for a better experience. Still wonderful overall!

Relaxing retreat

We had the most amazing stay at this cabin by the lake! The location was even better than described, check in and out was easy, and when we couldn’t figure out how to light the fireplace someone from Vacasa reached out almost immediately to help us! The cabin was a cozy retreat with all the amenities of home. And the view!!! We couldn’t have asked for a nicer place to spend the weekend- we will definitely be back.

Our stay that wasn’t

When we showed up to this lake house - the view was amazing. The space wasn’t very clean. There was a film that covered the eating table. No curtains in any of the open areas and in the direct eye shot of a motor home. If you’re looking for privacy - this isn’t your place. The trash can was full of left over trash. The windows were filthy and covered with bugs. Our 12lbs dog found some old good under the sofa and we decided to leave before we even unpacked our bags.

The location and the weather were wonderful. The cottage was large and comfortable and clean. It was right on the water, but lacked a canoe or kayak, and rentals were several miles away and you'd need a truck to haul them. All-in-all, a B+.

It's a Gem!

What is there not to love about this lakeside cottage? As soon as you walk in, you know you have made a good choice. The interior is so relaxing and the view of the lake from the kitchen picture window is stunning not to mention the view upstairs in the master bedroom as you lay in bed you look out thru a large picture window. This lakeside home has all the comforts you could ask for and more...loved staying here and will return again!
