「My stay was great. The people on the resort was pleasant. The resort was safe and clean. if we need maintenance. They will show up with no problem. We loved the quirky cottage with its amazing large wrap around window views. Donna and Mike are caring hosts, offering plenty of tips on the area when asked. The island is conveniently located close to Yorktown and not far from Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg. The kids also enjoyed both Yorktown and Jamestown beaches during the stay. 」

「We loved the cottage! The bay was so close that even when you were inside you felt like you were on the beach. The sunsets were AMAZING. The neighbors were very quiet, the beach was private and the cottage was clean- leading to a nice, relaxing trip full of kayaking, fishing, reading on the beach and floating on the bay. Mathews area is our favorite spot due to the close proximity to groceries, restaurants and day trips. 」

"The property itself is quite good—newly renovated facilities, a convenient location, and a nice free breakfast. It’s easy to see why it has a 9.0 rating and overall, it’s worth it. However, I was assigned a room right next to the ice machine and emergency exit. I checked in late at night and didn’t realize the potential for noise. Unfortunately, the receptionist didn’t mention anything about it, even though I was traveling with kids. Starting as early as 6 a.m., guests began walking around for breakfast, some trying to open the emergency exit—which triggered a loud alarm. The real issue started after 7 a.m, when the emergency exit began functioning as a regular door. Guests continuously came in and out, causing the door to slam shut every 2–3 minutes. The loud banging made it impossible to rest. It was truly exhausting and disrupted our rest completely. Getting a good night’s sleep is one of the main reasons to stay at a nice hotel, and sadly, that didn’t happen here. All in all, this property is ok—but if you're assigned room 126, 128, or any room near the emergency exit, request a room change to avoid a similar experience. "
