It is believed that the inclination of the famous leaning tower is due to the fact that there have existed sea or an estuary larger than the current one. The port is under the station of San Rossore. Tradition has it that the Port of Pisa was that S. Pedro arrived to preach the Gospel, and then followed to Rome.

"The room was great and the location could not have been better! My friend and I ran the Pisa Marathon, and the start/finish line was so close to the hotel. The breakfast was delicious each morning! But most of all, the staff could not have been more helpful, from letting my friend borrow a charger to giving us directions back to the train station, they were always so pleasant and patient with our every need! I highly recommend the Grand Hotel Duomo to anyone looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay in Pisa!"

"The room was adequate. As described and advertised in pictures. Furniture is dated and some of the bathroom tiling looks old, however this was as pictured and expected. All in all a nice character room. The staff were very helpful and helped with booking us taxis late at night. Overall happy to give 5 star rating. "
