Fantastic stay at the Rainforest Cottage
We had a fantastic stay at the Rainforest Cottage. The property was extremely clean and very private. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed and there was a large supply of items for use on day excursions (coolers, snorkeling gear, etc). The location was convenient to explore Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park and the Hilo area. Thank you Matt for sharing your slice of paradise with us!

Beautiful landscape
We really enjoyed the rainforest retreat. We had a lot of rain so didnt get to enjoy the outside as much as we would have liked. House had all of the amenities you would ever need. Only complaint is the center cushion in the couch was broken, but there were 2 other comfortable chairs to sit in.

Relaxing rainforest getaway…..
This property was a lovely surprise! Quaint and simple but it has everything you need for a rainforest experience. The sounds of the frogs and the birds were amazing as you fell asleep and woke up. 5 stars all the way!

Great Place
What a wonderful cottage. We really enjoyed our stay. Love how everything was labeled, made it so much easy to find things. It was in a good location and truly was in the Rainforest. Best part was the cat, sure did enjoy his/her company and was always meeting us. Make sure you feed and keep the water bowel clean Will stay here again.

Loved the cottage. Plenty of room. Very clean. We got in the cottage OK, but then got locked out and we’re unable to contact the owner, or property manager at after midnight here. Finally got in, and it worked out.

Relaxing home in Pahoa
House is beautifully decorated with a gorgeous landscaped yard in a quiet, safe neighborhood. Clean with good recommendations of local events and places to visit during our stay. Everything is labeled, so no confusion about where items are in the house. Earplugs provided bc the frogs are noisy at night. Rained almost daily which was nice for sleeping. Mosquitoes are prevalent but there’s plenty of spray. Unit has coolers and snorkel equipment in carport. There is a stray cat and food outside. Would definitely rent again.

We loved our stay. The cottage is very comfortable, fully stocked, and the property is beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed the night song of the frogs! We used Waze to find our way there and it worked perfectly. Would definitely stay here again. Mahalo.

Beautiful rainforest cottage
The house has a great layout and has kitchen, beach, and snorkeling supplies provided. Really beautiful fruit trees, we loved trying all the fresh fruit and making smoothies with the blender. It’s a little bit of a drive to Hilo, but there are great restaurants and a farmer’s market in Pahoa and we took a lot of short trips to black sand beaches and hiking spots along the south part of the island. Also really enjoyed volcano national park and our favorite snorkeling was at Punalu’u beach with the sea turtles.

Beautiful Rainforest Cottage!!
It's truly a rainforest and so tropical. We loved the rain and enjoyed listening to all the insects and frogs. The Landscaping was beautiful! The place was cleaned, organized and we'll kept. We loved it. Definitely will rebook in the future. Thank you for sharing your cottage.

Une vraie retraite paisible!!
Malgré les photos et descriptions, nous restons agréablement surpris par le charme de cet endroit. Idéalement situé, assez loin du vacarme des grands centres, mais près de nombreux attraits de la région de Puna, de Hilo et du volcan. Nous y avons séjourné 1 semaine, alors nous avons pu même visiter toute la moitié Est de l’île. Il y a vraiment tout le nécessaire pour cuisiner, voire même préparer des smoothies le matin. Matt a mis à notre disposition certains articles et jouets de plage, nous avons les nôtres, mais ça peut être pratique pour ceux voyageant plus léger. Avant notre arrivée, Matt s’assure de nous envoyer les informations détaillés pour l’arrivée, tout est très clair. Ne recevant pas notre réponse, il relance pour s’assurer qu’on a tout ce qu’il faut pour faire notre check-in autonome. Matt est un hôte très professionnel, et répond rapidement à nos messages, même si on n’a pas tant besoin, car chaque chose est bien identifiée dans les armoires et tiroirs. Merci encore une fois Matt pour nous avoir permis de séjourner chez vous. Ce fut une semaine fort agréable, au grand plaisir des enfants. Les arbres fruitiers sont un bonus 😉

Lovely, quiet, and clean! Kitchen had extra cooking supplies and bathrooms had some extra sunscreen, etc. We had a great time here and would definitely stay again!

Great 2-BR Cottage, cute natural location
Attractive, clean, and well appointed 2-BR cottage, a good stay for 2 adult couples. Beautiful natural rainforest property. it was nice to pick fresh tropical fruits from the yard for use in blended drinks in the evenings. Owner was very helpful and responsive, and had great recommendations for local places to visit. Grocery shops nearby but you'll need a car. We had no problems seeing all the sites we wanted, just need to allow time to get there (short drives). Highly recommend, 5 star.

Paradise place
Beautiful property with all the little touches that show how much Matt really cares for this place. The outside is wonderfully landscaped and the inside has stunning wood furnishings. I loved sitting on the back patio sipping coffee in the morning surrounded by the stunning foliage. Would definitely book again when staying on the Hilo side!

Beautiful Connection to the Rainforest
This secluded little house is a truly welcoming gem. The grounds are cared for with such Aloha. It almost feels like there are no neighbours. There was one very minor issue and it was taken care of immediately. I’m so grateful for my stay there. It was affordable, clean, & charming. I am absolutely happy to recommend to friends & family!

Home away from home.
For a seclude and private vacation Rainforest Cottage is perfect place. All you can ask for when staying on the east coast of Hawai’i. Great for a family of four, with all the beach amenities you would need. Outdoor shower was an excellent plus.

This cottage was a tropical paradise for our stay on Hilo side of Puna Island. We enjoyed its well equipped kitchen - spice rack, coffee maker, blender…- nice decor rooms, especially the lush green front / backyard, and sounds of frogs at nights, rain drops on the roof…No AC but with open windows in the evening the temp cool down, comfortable. There was evening local farmer market near by too in case you miss anything from Hilo one. The Malama market got all food items we needed during the stay. Note: The market just moved into a new location not in Subway corner.

We had a very nice stay at the Rainforest Cottage! The house is so cute and has a wide variety of kitchen items, movies, cds, and bathroom items. The outdoor shower was great. We also enjoyed the frogs at night.

I love the setup. The cottage was nicely done. The thoughtfully little things such added to the convenience of having to run out to pick up every little things we forgot and it was greatly appreciated. The cottage is in a tropical rainforest. Being immersed in nature greatly enhanced the experience. I love going to sleep with all the windows open and listening to nature. Coqui frogs are not for everyone, but I loved it. I especially loved the tropical fruits on the property and whatever was in season was available to guest. Owner was nice and provided timely communications. I had no problem checking in or out. The property was clean. Looking forward to my next stay.

Great little home in paradise
We loved our stay at the rainforest cabin! There was just about every amenity we needed for our stay. The home was very cozy and clean. We LOVED falling asleep to the sounds of nature. My only mistake was not staying longer. Hope to return for a stay in the near future.

Excellent stay! Clear check-in instructions from the host, the house was extremely clean - from bedsheets to bath towels to kitchen sink. All the drawers in the kitchen were labeled, super organized. The host provided suggestions for local fav eats, hiking trials, and tourist attractions which we found very useful. It’s a hidden gem! Highly recommend.

Fantastic oasis getaway!
My son and I traveled to the Big Island from Oahu and wanted to be accessible to Hilo and Volcanoes National Park--and this house was both. This place is a gem! It's hidden and secluded. A tropical paradise. You can't even see or hear the neighbors. The home is perfectly appointed with everything you need. The beds are comfy. It's decorated lovely with a tropical feel throughout. Highly recommend this place! The photos are exactly as it looks and the owners quickly communicate and respond to any questions.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Leilani Rainforest Cottage. It is even nicer in person than the photos. We had everything we needed, all organized so well. The location was very convenient to things we wanted to do on the east side of the island, including Volcano National Park. It was so nice to come home from busy days exploring to such peaceful and beautiful surroundings.

A lovely stay
The house is so well-stocked and thoughtfully provisioned for a variety of people and interests. Chances are there is something you think you should bring or pick up at the store on the way here, and chances are you won't need to. I wish we had an additional day to explore some of the suggested sites from Matt's email, the listing, and the binder. After walking 10 miles in Volcanoes one day, we took the next day easy, going to Hilo for the market then hanging out at the house all afternoon and evening. I lived the outdoor shower, even when it rained on me in the shower.

The hosts have created a cottage that feels like home. Tastefully decorated, fully equipped, clean, and located in a beautiful neighborhood. I loved cooking my farmer’s market bounty in the streamlined kitchen. We enjoyed relaxing on the lanai listening to the birds and the rain. We hope to return for another visit!
