Parsons Riverside Retreat: Steps away from a rolling mountain stream and trails

Parsons Riverside Retreat is a new riverside SMART cabin (2021) located steps away from the beautiful Shavers Fork/Cheat River that will sleep up to 6 people (we recommend a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children). Local activities include hiking/biking, floating, tubing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, white water rafting, skiing and sledding. We're an ATV friendly town with endless scenic trails through the mountains and national forests that surround us. We're known for five beautiful clean rivers that merge here and host the annual Pickin' in Parson Bluegrass Festival.

The space:
New (2021) 2 bedroom, 1 bath, w/ sleeper sofa, riverfront cabin with an amazing deck overlooking the beautiful Shavers Fork of the Cheat river. This cabin has vaulted wood ceilings, is a clean and cozy space perfect for a weekend getaway, week long vacation or peaceful environment for remote working. We are equipped with a Charge Point level 2 EV charger on property (40 amp J1772 plug) that can be used to charge your EV after a full day of fun and exploration.

Other things to note:
Parsons Riverside Retreat is located in the Allegheny Mountains less than .2 mi from the Allegheny Highland Trail that is perfect for a nearby hike or bike ride. Be sure to explore our friendly town and visit our parks which includes a splash pad, skate board park, basketball courts, hiking trails, and civil war battlefield.

Notice:
The cabin is equipped with a professionally monitored security system which includes smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, motion detectors, and door and window sensors. The system also includes four security cameras on the exterior of the home that view the driveway, carport, yard, and entryway.

There is an Amazon Alexa Show located in the kitchen for guest use and SMART home feature control (thermostat, lighting, & ceiling fans). This device does have an embedded microphone and video camera (however we keep the camera disabled/covered). The microphone can also be disabled on the device if preferred (note this would also disable voice control of the property's SMART features).

Each night at 10 PM a siren will go off in town indicating that the curfew is in effect for the youngsters in our community. It's been a part of this small town for many years.

Parsons River Retreat

This place is amazing! I went over Mother’s Day weekend and it was so peaceful and relaxing. I always travel well prepared and I was very pleased at how they had everything needed to stay here. Everything was top notch and if you forgot something, I’m sure they had it covered. Thank you for a such an amazing place to stay. I would definitely stay at your place again.

Perfect Family Getaway by the River

We had an amazing experience staying at this cabin near the river. The place was spotless and well maintained clearly a lot of care went into making sure guests feel at home. The host thought of everything you could possibly need, which made the stay even more relaxing. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, just what we were looking for.My family really enjoyed the time there, especially the kids. Their favorite part was getting wet and splashing around in the river. The water was knee-deep in some spots not quite deep enough for fishing, but it was perfect for them to cool off from the summer heat. We’ll definitely be back!Activity wise, the kids had a blast playing board games, we took a short trip to Blackwater Falls just 30 minutes away, and wrapped up our evenings enjoying the fire pit by the river. We’ll definitely be back!

Parson's Riverside Retreat

Loved this property! We have stayed in many STR's and this is one of the best. Very clean, great amenities and the porch and river put it over the top. Warren was extremely helpful and very prompt to answer any questions we had. Would definitely stay again!

The stay was awesome! The cabin is just as pictured. Lots of nice hospitality touches. The j1772 car charger was great, it allowed me to make a multi-state trip and feel confident for day trips in my EV. Very comfortable stay! Will likely go back.

Awesome place to stay!

Fantastic location. Great view of the river. Very peaceful and yet handy to everything in town. We brought our side by side and enjoyed riding in town and on the never ending back roads. Love the small town of Parsons. Wonderful place to stay. Very clean and comfortable. Warren was a great host. Answered all our questions. Can't wait to visit again!

Anniversary Weekend

Perfect getaway

We stayed at this beautiful property for my son’s birthday; going sledding at Blackwater State Park while there. This was one of the cleanest homes we’ve ever stayed in. It was well stocked with everything needed, there were lights installed along the stairway for nighttime trips to the bathroom, the porch was nice for my wife to sit on and read while listening to the river rushing past. Everyone had such a nice time and the host was very friendly, welcoming, and responsive. He also left recommendations for us and one was a pizza joint the kids were crazy about nearby. We couldn’t have asked for a better trip!

Great Getaway

Beautiful, quaint and cozy

The cabin had all the comforts of home. Coffee on the porch overlooking the river was a wonderful start to the day and took full advantage of the outdoor grill. We enjoyed our days at the bluegrass festival and it’s a short drive to Blackwater Falls. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

Cute Cabin!

Cozy little cabin! When I say this place had anything and everything you’d need on a trip I mean it. I have never stayed at a place that was so fully stocked with every little item you could have needed or forgotten to pack. I rated the cleanliness at a 4 only because of the hellgrammite bugs coming in and they gave me the creeps. We also had 4 adults and one child so it would have been nice to have a half bath upstairs for toileting purposes but other than that we loved it!

Wonderful cabin!

My husband and I spent four nights at this lovely cabin while we explored Parsons, Davis, and Thomas. The owners have stocked it with everything you need to feel at home. (Seriously, check the kitchen cabinets and bedroom closet before you head out to the store for that thing you forgot. 😉) Very comfortable. The pics of the porch facing the stream are what sold me, and I was not disappointed! Perfect spot to read and listen to the water. ❤️ Highly recommended!

Excellent property and amazing host!

My 9 year old son and I had rented this home for a father and son adventure trip. Our host was so accommodating and helpful. The home was in amazing condition and had all modern, smart home amenities. The home was exceptionally clean and there was a washer/dryer, toiletries, fire pit and board games, which was a great activity with my son. The home was on a beautiful river which we were able to enjoy and do some star watching. The cabin was close to surrounding areas of interest and the town was pure Americana. We had an absolutely wonderful time and the home was a huge part of that!

Such a beautiful spot right by the river. The house was spotless clean. It had everything and more that we needed for our short weekend to attend a reunion. The two grandchildren loved the beautiful river. I will definitely be back next year for our yearly reunion. The only suggestion I would have would be to build some sort of steps with the natural rock to the river. The steep bank gave my 60 plus knees a workout.

I named my review “dark” because the region lost electric for five hours. Warren was nice to bring us candles, but forgot matches, etc so thankfully the only restaurant/business in town with a generac had a waitress who gave us her lighter!! We loved the cabin. But it was a cold january so we didnt get to sit on the porch and listen to the roaring river out front. Would stay again. But will be more prepared with our own lighter, no matter where we stay
