At Casa Colibri, guests have the opportunity to spread out and relax on a beautiful beach front property along a cascading stream. Time slows down and the sound of the ocean fills the house and lulls you to sleep at night. Some of the best surfing, fishing, beach combing, nature exploration, and water sport access is just out the door. Best of all, the village of Punta Banco is quaint, safe, and far removed from the more commercialized tourist beaches to the north.
The space
Relax with friends and family at Casa Colibri. Just steps away from Punta Banco's incredible beach and main surf break, and 10 minutes from the world-famous surf in Pavones, the house offers comfort and adventure within a safe and quiet village at the end of the road. This expansive open air home (w/ fans and screens throughout) includes three spacious bedrooms, each with a full bath, a large upper porch, full kitchen, work space, living area, and separate "mother-in-law" apartment (extra fee).
Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire home minus the separate downstairs apartment (studio style with small kitchen and full bath) unless specifically requested. We are happy to add the apartment to your rental should you need the extra space (sleeps three with a queen bed and a twin trundle bed) for an additional fee.
Other things to note
The home is located directly across the street from the beach (the beach in Punta Banco has almost no development ocean front). The house is also adjacent to a cascading freshwater stream, perfect for rinsing off after a surf or cooling off on a hot afternoon.
PAVONES SERVICES & FACILITIES
The Supermarket Rio Claro sells basic food items, personal supplies, household items and gas for cooking. There are several other mini-grocery stores in the town of Pavones and the surrounding area.
PHONES
GSM cell phone service is intermittent. Along the beach at various points and up high, GSM cell phone signals may be found. TDMA service is more widely available.
INTERNET
There are two nice Internet cafes in town of pavones. House has wifi, but wifi can be spotty at times and take some trouble shooting. Power can go out intermittently and this may be effecting our connection. The Titiguana Soda next to the house has wifi. Our phones (we have verizon) function well throughout most of costa rica and we get service down to Pavones, but do not work in Punta Banco. Apparently, if you have Kolbi cell service, this is functional in Punta Banco or you could purchase a Kolbi Sim card.
BANKS
There are no banks or ATMs in the Pavones area. The closest towns offering these services are Rio Claro and Golfito. You can often request colones with purchase at grocery store if you use a debit/credit card.
GAS STATIONS
There are no gas stations in the area, but the hardware store sells small amounts of gas for $5+ a gallon. Better to fill up in the city of Rio Claro along Route 2 before heading south to Pavones.
