Great location, clean and friendly staff. Large room with jetted tub and shower . Fireplace in room . Could hear waves from our room ! Only negative was we could hear everything our neighbors were saying and doing !!! Above us and beside us! Paper thin walls ! Otherwise , we enjoyed the stay but didn’t get a lot of sleep . The hot tub was wonderful also!!
Full disclosure: The room we stayed in was a bit dated.
And we didn't mind it a bit. The property is in great shape. Daily room service, which is becoming rare. Excellent location, we were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go. Breakfast was served up hot every day and included lots of options.
This will be our new go-to location in the Harbor Springs area. Looking forward to going back some day.
The room was clean, the breakfast was very nice and the location was great to walk to the lake or town for shopping. The hotel needs some maintenance, the exterior!
Our stay at the Colonial Inn was pleasant overall. The inn is charming and located in a beautiful area that’s perfect for walking and very close to the lake. The beds were uncomfortable, and one appeared to be broken on one side, causing it to lean and make quite a bit of noise. With improved housekeeping and updated beds, this could be a wonderful place to stay.
This was our 4th year staying at this location. It is always: clean, well maintained and every staff member is friendly. We will stay again next year. I highly recommend Colonial Inn.
Based on the pictures and ratings, I didn't realize that the structure was more like a motel and not a hotel. Meaning, you walked to your room from the outside. The walls were thin and you could hear conversations, noises from adjoining rooms. The grounds were beautiful and it was very clean, however. The AC was a noisy wall unit.
I can see where most would not have a problem with a motel type atmosphere, but for us, we prefer something different.

The Breakfast was amazing our room was wonderful and very clean and very quiet
Loved our stay at Colonial Inns. We were in town for a race, and the staff left out bananas and coffee since we would miss the complimentary breakfast. That was so incredibly kind and thoughtful. The rooms were decorated beautifully and very clean. My friend is now considering having her wedding there is was so fabulous! Will be back!
