“We heard great reviews for this hotel from friends in Manado, so we booked a room for our stay. I’m giving five stars because I believe my friends. However, a volcano meant that our flight turned around 30 minutes before we were supposed to land in Manado. We couldn’t use our reservation. I wrote to Expedia and the hotel to cancel the reservation. Expedia said they couldn’t refund the money because they needed to first receive the consent of the hotel and the hotel didn’t respond the hotel……

“ Had a wonderful stay at Grand Whiz Mega Mas Manado. The hotel is very clean and conveniently located right next to the shopping center. The staff, especially Ms. Nadia at the reception, were super friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was amazing with authentic Indonesian flavors (not westernized like most hotels) — really delicious! Also, it’s close to many great food spots in Manado center. “Great view of sea and city from my 10th floor room. Great sea view and sunset from the corridors and the 3rd floor pool/ breakfast restaurant too. Room not big but comfy enough and meets all basic needs. Nice "breakfast with a view". Easy to get taxis. Near city center and the port (5mn by taxi). There's a bad smell from the bathroom plumbing most of the time though. Wifi can be quite slow.”

“The villa we booked was not available when we arrived. I had booked and paid months earlier and was extremely upset. The gave us a new duplex which smelt of cement and the shower flooded. - Tateli Beach Resort - It is a resort that is located not far from Manado. A nice place for both domestic and international tourist to spend their quality time in Manado. My friend visited Manado and stayed at this resort, she told me that she took the diving package, although she knew nothing about diving. You will have to obtain a license to dive, but fortunately many resorts including this offer a diving package for beginner. Basically you will have a two to four day course before you can dive in the sea. The resort is maintained pretty well and staff are hospitable. Best of all, it has easy access and located not far from the city. The rate of the hotel starts from about $100 depending on the season and class. It is best to stay at least one week if you want to explore the marine life and highlands at the same time.
