We had an awesome week with our family. Enjoyed the pool early mornings until late evenings. Close to the beach. Only 30 min to Tamarindo. 8-10 nice restaurants close by. Our lights went out once a day but we’re back pretty quick. Didn’t see much wild life while we were there.

Beautiful house with great view!

We thought the house was spacious and very clean. The neighborhood was peaceful and view was lovely. The appliances were nice and the house was well-stocked with beach towels, laundry detergent, paper goods.

Great location. Comfortable house

This is a very nice property up on the hill overlooking Playa Grande which is an amazing beach. Far enough away from the craziness of Tamarindo but close to restaurants, stores and attractions. Great views. Nice pool. No hot tub but the weather is so warm it isn't likely to use one.

Wonderful location, plan ahead...

We spent 10 relaxing days here and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The location is excellent, conveniently situated near Tamarindo, Flamingo Beach, Playa Grande, and close to several great restaurants and a charming local bakery. There are also a few nearby convenience stores for everyday essentials.The area is rich in wildlife; we especially enjoyed spotting Howler Monkeys right from the property. A four-wheel drive vehicle is highly recommended, both for navigating the steep driveway and for exploring the surrounding areas on day trips. If you're visiting during the rainy season, be sure to plan activities earlier in the day. The "mostly" paved roads, a few kilometers away, can become an adventure in the rain and after dark.We did encounter a few minor maintenance issues, but they were addressed in a reasonably timely manner. Overall, it was a solid experience.

Paradise in Playa Grande

We loved this house - it was exactly the kind of vacation we were looking for. My feedback for others is just - it is a drive to most places, you can walk down to some amazing food, but its a hike to the beach. Tamarindo is not too far, but groceries, etc are not convenient so plan ahead if you want to use the amazing kitchen. Cooking, with the kids playing in the pool, watching the sunset will be memories that stick with us forever. It was quiet, private and magical for our family - our kids are 9, 9 and 11 )

Everything Exceeded Expectations

This is an amazing property and Keith was so wonderful to work with. From reserving our cars, chefs and giving great advice on what to see, where to eat etc..it made our vacation perfect! Would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Costa Rica.

2024 Family Getaway

Perfect sunsets and location

Our family of 5 enjoyed a month long stay at this villa. Everything about this stay was incredible. The property managers and cleaning crew were great to work with. The location is private and secure. The sunsets from the pool are some of the best we have experienced traveling the world. Overall this has been a tremendous time away in such incredible location!

Beautiful

We loved staying here. Very private but still close enough to excursions and restaurants. Marcelo was on top of everything! We had no problem lining up all the things we wanted to do before we got there. Everyone was very friendly, welcoming and really wanted us to have a good time! We’d definitely go here again!

Great Home in quiet area

The home was as described and beautiful. The beach down from the home was quiet and we enjoyed the walks followed by Tacos at Taco Star (a must!). Sunsets by the pool each evening were better than our pictures showed. Marcello was a great asset and helped us with anything we needed. Thanks for a great vacation.

Amazing views

We have nothing but great things to say about this house. It was just as described and the views were amazing. Sometimes we went to the beach to watch the sunsets and other times we stayed at the house. Playa Grande and Ventanas are both wonderful beaches. The local people were so kind and friendly. We were pleased with our time in Costa Rica and look forward to returning. Marcelo helped answer our questions and set up tours for us.

Quiet oasis in Playa Grande

Our family of four enjoyed a fantastic Easter week at Casa Ventana al Mar. The infinity pool and patio area were incredible. We enjoyed the panoramic ocean views and sound of the waves crashing in the distance. The kitchen was very well equipped and ice maker kept pace with our drinks and cocktails! Keith and Marcelo were helpful before and during our stay and responded by phone anytime we called. We can't wait to return.

Lovely home in a beautiful place

The home was perfect for our family of four-- very clean, and the pool and view were the cherries on top. If you're interested in being off the beaten path in a lovely place surrounded by nature, this is the home for you. If you're looking for a raging night life or restaurant scene, maybe not. But you cannot beat the beach of Playa Grande-- one of the most sublime on the planet, and Tamarindo and Flamingo are not distant drives if you want a bit more action.

Wonderful place!!!

We stayed here 2 weeks and loved every minute in this beautiful house/location! It is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood with the best sunset to be found; but close enough to both Tamarindo and Playa Flamingo so one didn’t feel to far off the “beaten path”. The local beaches were great as were the restaurants. The area is popular and growing, so don’t be surprised by the construction of new homes being built below this home. If we had to choose the best house so far into our 2 month stay, this it! You can’t go wrong by choosing this gem!!

Very private luxury home with spectacular sunset views

We spent 6 days at this wonderful home. The house is new, modern and very clean. We spent a lot of time hanging out in the awesome infinity pool, making cocktails and enjoying the view. The beach is a short drive away and the sunsets there are amazing. There are a few good restaurants nearby. The pizza place down the road was our favorite. Our host, Keith, was very accommodating and our concierge, Marcelo, hooked us up with a catamaran trip and massages out by the pool. We all had an amazing time and will be back as soon as possible.

Beautiful home

The house was beautiful and everything I had hoped for. Gorgeous pool and beautifully appointed. My only complaint has nothing to do with the home but the roads leading to it. Because it was rainy season, the dirt roads were filled with water filled potholes. Once they pave the roads, the whole experience will be perfect.

Great place to relax and unwind

The property lived up to our expectations and the management team was readily available and promptly resolved the few items which arose. The sunset views were excellent and the family enjoyed them from the pool. There is lots of construction in the area and the road is pretty bumpy at this time. I’m assuming this will be resolved once the homes under construction are completed. We had a great time and would consider staying here again. Thanks to everyone who made our stay so comfortable. Pots and Bowls is a great breakfast spot just down the hill. Great food and great espresso drinks.

Incredible view and accommodations!

This place is situated on a hill with an incredible view from the back patio and pool. The home is designed around that view and it paid off. The accommodations are luxurious and private. It is in Playa Grande which we quickly learned is much better than the more frequented Flamingo or Tamirundo. This place is quiet, private, and no one trying to sell you anything. Just laid back living and amazing beaches and waves. Manager was amazing and helped with anything we needed. We did not need a lot, but my daughter accidentally set off the alarm and Keith called me within a few minutes. Very responsive and honest. Great vacation home!

Perfect.

Our family of four stayed at this great house for 10 days and could not have been happier. It would easily accommodate more people. The house is beautiful, private and in great shape. Marcelo helped us with everything from activities, rental cars, cook services, advice and even helped stock our fridge for when we arrived. We loved Zulma! She cooked for us and spoke Spanish with us. When we locked ourselves out of the safe, Keith was there litterally in minutes to bail us out. We felt safe (the house has a very good security system), informed and really well taken care of. It was much more than just a home rental.

Family Fun in Playa Grande

This is our fifth trip to Costa Rica, and one of the best! The house is as described, was very clean and there are so many "things" we swear the cupboards are magic - we kept finding things we didn't realize were there. This is the first time we've visited during the "green season" and we were surprised at how lovely the visit was: sure there was rain, neary every day. We learned to plan our day, at the beach by 10am, (and my kids visited 7 beaches! We visited 5!) Just as we'd had enough sun, (avoided sunburn) the clouds started moving in, there was rain. (Sometimes torrential) and then late afternoon sunshine again. That was perfect for "pool time". My grand-girls needed floaties when they arrived, and by the time we left, they were swimming across the pool. And the pool was perfect for them. If you're going in the wetter season, I recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle. The house is at the end of a dirt road that gets muddy. You'll need that vehicle to visit many of the beaches anyway. We loved "Pinto" restaurant, and ate there 3 times. Eric and his crew were amazing with great food, (just ask them to make you something) and so nice we felt like we were leaving family when we finally said goodbye. They also have live music there too. We ate at "Pots & Bowls" the pizza place and picked up items from the bakery. All excellent. We look forward to visiting Playa Grande again!

Beautiful home with a beautiful view!

Our family of four stayed here for 7 days. Our two little boys (4 and 6 yrs old) had such a wonderful time in the pool and absolutely loved seeing the wildlife on the property. The beach is a quick 2 minute drive away. Although it's walkable, with two young children, it's best to drive. The outdoor shower is great for rinsing off all of the sand after a long day at the beach. The shallow area of the pool is also great for small children to splash around and play in the water. During the day, the views of the ocean can't be beat. At night, the views of Tamarindo are just as gorgeous. The outdoor furniture is in great condition... but make sure to check under the cushions before you sit down! Those geckos, frogs and scorpions also love it there :-) Two nights during our stay we enjoyed the luxury of Chef Kattya Campos (Alka Services) creating for us amazingly delicious dinners. We highly recommend that you do the same when staying here! We also enjoyed a couple of meals at The Rip Jack Inn. We absolutely loved the food and the service was great each time we dined. Huerto's is just down the street and the food was great. As noted in the other reviews, Kevin and Marcello were incredibly helpful and attentive if we needed anything. Their level of service is top notch. Any questions we had were answered within minutes during our stay. On a side note...We also had problems with our Netflix, Vudu and Amazon accounts working for us. Apparently the movies and shows have licensing issues when it comes to watching them in a country other than the US. This isn't a huge issue since most don't go to Costa to watch TV... but something you need to plan for (especially if you have kids that will need a break from the sun at some point). Our workaround was the Movies Anywhere App. It worked great and our library of movies was easily accessed. We had also downloaded a bunch of movies and shows prior to leaving home so those were accessible to us the entire time. Wifi worked great too. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare a meal or a drink (probably better stocked than my own home!) There were fresh linens on the beds, and extra towels available, if needed. The property is just perfect. We look forward to our return next year!

Une vue extraordinaire

Superbe maison avec une vue magnifique sur l océan et les couchers de soleil. Cuisine bien équipée. Ma petite fille a adoré la douche extérieure dans la chambre de ses parents. Marcelo nous a aidé pour engager un chef à la maison, le repas était délicieux, et pour organiser une sortie en voilier le serendipity ce fut une journée mémorable

Monkeys and sunsets!

Our family of four enjoyed Casa Ventana Al Mar and took full advantage of the wonderful pool, views and outdoor living space. We especially liked watching the neighborhood monkeys, resident iguanas and incredible sunsets! Our only issue was construction noise from a nearby property. Of course this is nothing the owners of Casa Ventana Al Mar could control, but it was quite noisy at times during our planned “pool days.” Also, although Playa Grande beach is very nearby, it’s not an easy walk…especially if you are carrying towels, drinks and other necessary beach items. Driving is your best option. A “beach wagon” would be a welcomed addition. Our final recommendation would be a larger sofa or sectional. We are a family of four and found the living room seating a little tight. Marcelo was extremely friendly, responsive, accommodating and helpful. His attention was the difference between a good vacation and a great vacation!
