The Barnacle
Janis and Victor are great hosts, they answered all questions right away( we asked very few). The house is very cute, practically round, lots of windows sarrounded by palms trees and lot of green. Everything was spotless and the best silverware and appliances. We enjoyed very much finding the golf car on the beach especially for sunset. If you rent it, I suggest you rent it.

Indian Pass Getaway
If you’re looking for a quiet place to escape, this is it. The Barnacle is charming and unique. Well appointed with everything you might need. We appreciate the fact that we could bring our dog along. We always bring our own blankets to cover furniture but this place also provided coverings as needed. The beach is just a short boardwalk away and we enjoyed lots of walks on the beach as well as viewing some beautiful sunsets. One evening we spotted a heron on the top of one tree and an eagle on the top of the next tree. Definitely plenty of wildlife to be viewed! If you are looking for a place to unwind and relax then check this place out. Also, the hosts were just a text away if anything was needed :-)

Ocean Bliss
The Barnacle is funky in a very good way. Leave behind the stressful part of your life. Come here, walk the beach, collect some shells, cast a line, enjoy the sunrises and sunsets, read that novel, or wrire it, eat some of the best oysters you'll ever get, revel in the unspoiled beauty. Simply relax, unwind and rediscover all that is good about quiet places with not so many people.

We enjoyed our stay at the Barnacle.The hosts Victor and Janis live on site and shared tons of local info, restaurants and history of Port St Joe. Even though we had some cold weather we still enjoyed our long peaceful walks on the beach with our pup. The barnicle is very comfy and has everything you need for a nice stay. However I must say the pictures and description are deceptive. There is major construction going on next door as a new house is being built. No longer are there trees that you see in the pics. We were woken many days by loud trucks, banging, saws, music playing and beeping from tractor,etc. Fortunately we didn’t have the windows open or it would have been worse. Still quite a bit of construction left to be done too since the inside hasn’t been started yet. Like I said the hosts are super nice but a little heads up about this and the option to cancel our reservation or have been offered a partial refund would have been the right thing to do. The main reason we booked was because of the listing description and reviews, quiet, peaceful, secluded and private.

We spent a week at the Barnacle and it was wonderful. So secluded and so close to the beach. Highly recommend the golf cart- great for going to the beach. House is very well stocked - we cooked most nights. Janis and Victor are wonderful- so easy to get in touch with them and had great recommendations in the area. I forgot some clothes and they were so sweet and mailed them to me. Highly recommend a stay at the Barnacle! Loved it. Carol B.

Perfect.
We come down every other year, but try to stay at different places along the pass. This one was pretty awesome, my wife has always wanted to stay in a round house! Clean, and perfect for my wife and big puppy. Made it easy for parking and the golf cart made it easy to carry chairs and fishing tackle to the beach. Nice path to the beach from the house for dog walks, and the front porch had a nice view of the lagoon and you can even see the oyster farms! Owners are wonderful and very easy to deal with. Thanks for letting us stay at your beautiful house.

Great Time at the Barnacle
We had a wonderful stay at The Barnacle! The house was so unique and beautifully designed. The highlight of our trip was kayaking across to St. Vincent. We did not do any fishing but we saw some great catch’s made by others. We made many great memories with our family and would highly recommend The Barnacle to others.

Virgil-The Beach Boy gives it 5 Stars!
This was our 2nd trip to The Barnacle. As always, it was spotless. Very well appointed kitchen (which we need, as we prefer to cook). Excellent location. Virgil, an almost two year old Springer Spaniel, absolutely LOVES the beach and The Barnacle is one of his favorite places to go. We swam in the ocean, fetched a variety of dog toys, saw lots of birds, dolphins and even manatees. Oh, and Virgil found a baby armadillo on the property (although Virgil was a bit scared of him!). The new beach chairs were fabulous! We will be back next year. Oh- And The St Joe Shrimp Company makes an excellent Low Country Boil! Thank you again for your hospitality!

The barnacle is a beautiful place. Very clean with plenty of extras for beach fun or exploring the area. We loved riding the golf cart on the beach. This is our first time visiting and definitely will not be our last. Janis was very helpful and checked in a few times to make sure that our stay was great! We loved it!
My sister and I (and our 2 small dogs) had a wonderful time staying at this cute home! I recommend renting the golf cart if you can; it was so much fun to take a sunset ride on the beach and then watching the stars on the deck. We even saw a meteor! It was our first visit to the Port St. Joe/Indian Pass area, and it won't be our last. The people we met were so friendly, and there are lots of good places to eat! We can't wait to go back. If we could have stayed a month, we would have! One slight word of warning - if you have a hard time with stairs, this might not be the easiest for you to navigate. Otherwise, it's practically perfect! The hosts were in touch several times during the week, and were super helpful. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed staying at the Barnacle. Well appointed and clean, great communication from the owners. Not on the beach, but a short walk upstairs on the boardwalk to get there. Enjoyed the deck on the boardwalk with the ocean view. The living room and deck have a great view of the sunset over the bay. So quiet and secluded at the house and on the beach. We saw so much wildlife, including a lot of bald eagles, and we enjoyed a day trip and guided walking tour on St Vincent’s Island. A short ferry ride from the boat ramp, walking distance from the cottage.

Honeymoon Stay
This was the absolute perfect place for my wife and I to stay on our honeymoon! The Barnacle definitely exceeded our expectations in all ways! The location is secluded, which is perfect for what we wanted on our honeymoon, yet it’s still close enough to the other attractions of the area to make it the perfect spot for a vacation. Mr and Mrs. Ramos were also the perfect hosts. They take pride in their home and will 100% be there for you if you need anything at all. They make the checkin/out process very easy and straightforward. They checked in with us through the week just to make sure we had everything we needed and they made it feel like our own home while we were there. My wife and I had no complaints whatsoever for our stay at the Barnacle! Thank you so much Mr. & Mrs. Ramos for making our stay so wonderful! We would love to visit again sometime! Kevin & Ashley

Beautiful cottage!
Absolutely loved this cute, little round cottage! So clean, bright and welcoming! Had everything we needed to cook our own meals and make ourselves at home. Really appreciated the Smart TV for the couple of days of rainy weather...watched movies in the evening while listening to the rain on the roof. The area is quiet and peaceful with lots of birds singing. Beach was almost deserted and we enjoyed going on long walks, looking for shells and watching the ocean. Even saw an alligator on the beach one night. Took advantage of the bicycles and rode up to the Indian Pass Raw Bar and also checked out the Trading Post. The Forgotten Coast is a beautiful area and a good place to go if one is looking for peace and quiet! Folks are super friendly too!! Highly recommend!

Great stay in a great place
The Barnacle is a lovely, well-equipped, very comfortable home from which to enjoy the immense natural beauty of Indian Pass and Cape San Blas. The owners are terrific hosts! They were gone while we were there ( the Barnacle sits just behind their beach house), but texted or called a couple of times to make sure all was well. When we needed some help with the TV, they responded quickly and the matter was easily resolved. This area is full of friendly people walking their dogs on the miles and miles of pet-friendly beach. This gave the place a wonderful feel. The local restaurants have delicious food (watch for limited hours of operation, at least in the winter months). The beach in front of the Barnacle is beautiful and has a great view of St. Vincent Island Wildlife Refuge. We saw a bald eagle in a nearby tree almost every day, plus plenty of other birds flitting about the property and around the wonderful, heavily vegetated sand dunes in this area.

Just Perfect! Wonderful house and host!
We had a awesome week at the Barnacle. The house was just perfect. Kitchen was stocked with everything a cook could want. The house was so clean. The beds where very comfortable. We had a wonderful stay at the Barnacle. Great location, quiet area, stars at night; just what we needed. They had just what is needed if you forgot something (extra beach chairs, fishing rod holder, etc.). Appreciated the washer / dryer as we had a damp day or two at the beach. Golf cart offered to rent, and there is charcoal grill. Our older kids used the bikes to ride over the the Indian Pass Raw Bar. We rented kayaks for two days and visited St. Vincent's Island for some good hiking and beach walking. Just know that the bedroom walls don't go to the ceiling so you will hear someone watching TV. We cast to the TV for World Cup matches so all were happy. It rained on our checkout morning so it helped to be able to pull up under the house to pack. Recommend for getting away! Thanks for sharing!

Quiet Beauty...and an Eagle!
We had a wonderful, restful stay at The Barnacle, a unique and well-appointed beach house. Though we weathered a mild, late-season hurricane, we actually enjoyed the excitement and had lots of sunshine following it. The beach access was easy and direct via private boardwalk to our own deck, where we sat and enjoyed that sun, and watching our dog stretch out after long walks. She'd never experienced the beach before, and after getting over the different surface, she had a great time sniffing every new discovery. I was impressed with the thoughtfulness of our hosts, as The Barnacle's kitchen was equipped with all the tools one could want, the baths and bedrooms were lovely and the common space contained comfortable furniture and many books, magazines, videos, etc. We spent much of our time sitting outside though, and that's where I got to see the eagle that my husband had seen at the beach. Our hostess had told me that there was a resident eagle, but we were honored that he made an appearance while we were there. It's a great memory. The only inconvenience for me was minor, and was due to my inability to use the private code feature on the door lock. We both tried numerous times to program the lock, but wound up using the longer code provided for check-in. However, it had no effect on our good time! Thank you, Janis and Victor, for sharing your wonderful beach home with us!

Magical week in Indian Pass
We loved our stay at the Barnacle. The location was perfect and the house had everything we needed. It was clean, the beds and bedding were comfortable, and there was plenty of space in the family room for our family of 4 and our golden retriever. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, cutting boards, knives and utensils and anything else we needed to prepare meals. We ended up renting the golf cart and we are so glad we did. We enjoyed riding down the beach and watching the beautiful sunsets in the evening. We all loved the wooded setting while only steps away from the beach. We spent late afternoons on the deck and spotted huge birds of prey across the road. The kids fished right from the beach and caught flounder, several pompano, and my 10 year old daughter even caught a small shark. Janis was a great hostess and was very helpful with questions i had and info about the area. We are already thinking about our next visit. We can’t wait to return.

Peaceful vacation rental.
My family had a great time fishing and catching blue crabs. Thankful for Victor who lives on site to educate us on how to identify female blue crabs. Had issue with internet not working but owners worked diligently to fix same day. Rental was clean and had everything we needed. Will definitely be back next year.

Yes......for all our visitors, when crabbing, please look for the eggs clinging to the bottom of the crabs, and be sure to throw those females back in the water so they'll always be more crabs. 😉 Glad we could get the "kinks" out of the internet for you, too, as we had just hooked up to Starlink in order to get out from under cable TV service. So peaceful !
The Barnacle was awesome. It's almost at the end of a street that ends at the bay. Car traffic and noise was non existent. The house itself is round and lovely. The bed was comfortable and the the entire house was super clean. A short walk up the private walkway leads to the beach which is literally on Indian pass. St Vincent Island is a 5 minute kayak away. Although the current is quite strong sometimes and we chose to cross during the incoming tide. Fishing was good. Redfish were on the dinner menu. The owners offer a golf cart rental that is worth every penny. For hauling a days worth of beach gear or taking an evening drive up the beach, the golf cart was the ticket. Lastly, Janis and Victor were great. They checked in with us twice throughout the week to make sure everything was good. And it was! Thank you guys for an amazing week ! Brad and Jennifer Jones

Relaxing and fun
The house was adorable. It was like being at the jungle and the beach at the same time. The owners were great and suggested many great things to do in the area. If your out for a relaxing vacation this is the place. This is not a tourist area. Great for family time, quiet time, fishing, crabbing and so many things within a 30-45 min drive to explore. Best vacation ever! We will stay here again.

We were looking for somewhere that was not in the middle of a tourist trap and we found it at the Barnacle. Secluded and tucked in the trees was just the peaceful experience we needed. The Barnacle was fully equipped with everything you would need and still close to Port St Joe and Cape San Blas. We made the decision to rent the golf cart and so enjoyed the daily drive down to the beach. There was an issue with internet going out but owners were quick to find a solution for us but to be honest being unplugged was nice. We would recommend a stay in the trees at The Barnacle

Janis is a great host and is very kind! My husband, daughter, and I enjoyed our stay at the Barnacle. I loved the trees surrounding the house. The location was great! I would recommend to others renting a golf cart if you don't want to carry your beach items up and down the stairs. The house is very clean and comfortable. It had all we needed. We really enjoyed the Barnacle! The kids loved the path to the beach and playing on the beach. They also loved the stuffed animals, games, and dvd’s. We enjoyed the quiet getaway and peaceful area! We hope to rent a canoe or boat next time, but you can fish on the pass or some side streets. It was very clean and had all we needed. We hope to visit again!

Virgil the (SUPER HAPPY) Beach Boy!
Overall- I would give The Barnacle 6 Stars! Extremely clean, well supplied, EXCELLENT communication with the owners, great location. We took Virgil (11 month old Springer Spaniel) with us. The property was PERFECT for a dog. Easy access to the beach via stairs or golf cart. The hose on the porch was AWESOME for us...Virgil might not have cared for daily baths, but we thought it made keeping the house sand-free super easy! I would highly recommend this VRBO for families, dog parents, and singles. It is super clean, great (safe) neighborhood, very quiet at night and not crowded on the beach. We could not have asked for a better vacation! Virgil slept for about 36 hours after his beach trip---but can't wait to return! Thank you (Janis and Victor) for your hospitality and kindness!

Peaceful vacation
Our family have been struggling with loss of family members and very hard times the past year. We needed a place to go and try to regain some peace, although peace can only come from Jesus, having a peaceful place to go away from all the strain of everyday life helps. We found the Barnacle to be a peaceful place. It is very clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and clean. There are dvds, games,and books to keep you busy on a rainy day. The wifi work fine and also the TV. We recommend renting the golf cart to carry your things to the beach, the stairs are steep and tiring that go to the beach , however they are quite beautiful to watch the sunrise from. If you are not a resident the fee you have to pay for a permit to take your vehicle onto the beach is 400.00 . There are 4 bicycles to use and beach chairs. The washer and dryer was also a big plus. Janis a Victor are super host willing and ready to help meet your need or answer your questions at anytime. Our disappointments was only the yellow flies and see me not, and the restaurants in Port St Joe all seemed to only serve frozen seafood. We certainly will be returning to enjoy this peaceful place.

Much needed vacation in the perfect place
Had a wonderful stay! Great quiet location and the place is super clean, very well-appointed, and beautifully decorated. The owner's respect for the sadly disappearing natural beauty of this part of the coast is so apparent in the way they build the home without removing the fantastic oak trees. And the short walk to the beach felt like a nature walk! We enjoyed the magnificent outdoors every day and loved having our kayaks with us. The owners and communication before, and during our stay, was just 1st rate. Best we have ever had. We look forward to our next visit!

Great Location
Cozy cabin in a great location. Janis and Victor are fantastic hosts who take pride in their property. They go out of their way to ensure you have what you need and have a great stay. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.
