This rental property is extremely expensive for what you get. Pluses are that the location is wonderful, the marsh in the back is beautiful, and it’s very close to the beach and some amazing seafood restaurants. But the house itself is old, in pretty significant disrepair (for being a rental—some things were downright dangerous, such as exposed nails in the wall of one of the bedroom window frames), the back sliding door key didn’t work (which meant you always had to leave out of the front door), and in no way, shape, or form comfortably sleeps 10 people unless those people are happy sleeping almost on top of each other. The home is clearly laid out and advertised in such a way as to maximize the number of occupants to justify the very high rental price. There is no bathroom upstairs (where you must pass through one bedroom to get to another) and the two bathrooms downstairs are right next to each other, which is super awkward depending on your comfort level with whomever you’re staying in the rental. My elderly parents chose the bedroom with the window AC and the mattress was so uncomfortable they went to wal-mart to purchase an air mattress to put over top of it. Overall, in spite of the positive aspects of this rental’s location, the rental itself was dirty, in disrepair, and really looked like it needed a home inspection to address a multitude of serious issues. As another reviewer mentioned. the kitchen was also far from new and many of the cabinets were truly in a state of disrepair. We appreciated the owners prompt response to our questions while we were there. While we would not stay here again for the reasons mentioned, we share this review to forewarn others but also in the hope that the owner will have the home inspected for safety, and to address the many issues that could be easily resolved to make the home more comfortable and inviting to future guests. This property has great potential. Devoting one month of rental earnings to beefing the property up, making it more comfortable (and safe) would do wonders for what could otherwise be a super cute and fun place to stay.
