Hotel and room extremely run down. Lights and plug did not work at bedside. TV half falling off the wall. Extra door internal lock was removed from door.
Only good things I can say was that the sheets and bathroom were clean.
I slept better here than I have at any motel in my life. Surprisingly quiet, comfortable, and dark in the room. Window opened to allow fresh air, sheets were not scratchy, laminate floor and no gross carpet and didn’t smell like stale pot smoke, yay. It was a no vacancy Friday night but the halls were quiet and guests were respectful. I never expect to sleep well in a motel so was quite happy. The water smells like chlorine but was plenty hot. Good location with Human Bean across the street. Staff was friendly.
Very clean and updated rooms. Entry into the parking lot is tricky but not too bad. Very friendly staff and quiet rooms.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
I liked the convenience of being centralized.
Lots of restaurants around. That was the good. Tbe bad: The bedcover was dirty in our room, we removed it. There wasn't enough coffee being made for guests. It is a cheap no frills place to lay your head down for the night.
If you are looking for a nice, clean, updated motel that's centrally located while on a budget, this is the place for you. Floors are new, but not carpeted, new bathroom shower/tub inserts, with beautifully tiled floor (in the bathroom). I would definitely stay here again, but take in to account that because it's centrally located you will hear traffic.
We only had one towel. Other than that it was comfortable. We like the new blinds and the remodeling. Have stayed there whenever we're in Hillsboro. It's nearby some of our family, so works out well.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Wonderfully clean rooms!
From the outside, it was a place I would have just driven by.
The room was spotless, very clean.
Not at all what I expected.
I was so pleasantly surprised! I'm now recommending The Dunes to other friends and family that visit the area.
Travelled with family.
Nice rooms and friendly staff, very supportive and ease in check-in.
Reasonably priced. No elevator but ice machine Available, you can get your cooler full with ice.
You need to carry your own water bottles, water is not free(no water fountain) and they charge $1.5 for each bottle.
Overall experience GOOD.
Was affordable, clean, in good shape but not all that quiet (seemed thing walls, people slamming doors), best part was had a wakeup call I didn't ask for at 4:30am. Staff seemed disengaged /preoccupied.

The pictures make it look a lot nicer than it is. Really, it’s an old motel with tweakers riding their bikes in and hanging about the parking lot. We booked a room with two queens but got a room with full sized beds and the staff lied about it when I double checked on arrival. When I came back to the front desk and said they were not queens, they were nice about it and gave us another room. We had to pack up, move and unpack again. They were also very nice about giving us a late check out. For a clean, no-frills room, it was fine. But for the price, I could have gotten much better. I won’t be back.
This was a cute, well located place. The bathtub was especially nice; big and deep. The beds were firm, a good thing, in my opinion. The place was very clean, but could use some detail cleaning, like the caulk on the tub. My main complaint was it could use some floor coverings. The floors were cold. Carpet would be great. I didn't like being locked out of the lobby at 11pm.The stairs were dangerous, They need better handrails. All that said, this will be a go to when we need to stay in town.
