“The hotel, whilst it looks fine from the entrance, is tired and in need of significant investment. The location is fantastic. Best part. We had a superior room with a fabulous direct view of Monte Bianco. Bathroom is old, dirty pointing around the bath, fittings at least 20 years old, broken dirty fan, etc. And they don’t make the beds properly-no duvet cover-just a duvet sandwiched between two sheets which turns into a twisted mess by morning. Breakfast was ordinary-lots of pastries, limited……

“Quiet and simply. You cannot get any better accommodation in - not only in Courmayeur but - all Europe to that price with these amenities and its staff. We really felt like home as the owner family is treating us. The gentlemen had been giving advises for Ski slopes like we are his family. His wife is greeting me and wife every time we see her like family. The night manager gentleman had been waiting for us to return to hotel late at night and closing the doors after us like we are his family.……

“Beautiful place. Absolutely gorgeous interiors and the scenery is breathtaking too. The food and service at the restaurant are also very good. My only complaint was not having an air conditioner in the room as it got very hot when we were there. Apparently some rooms do have A/C but the hotel was fully booked so they could not transfer us to another room. However, the staff did everything that they can to make us comfortable. They gave us not one but two fans to use in the room which helped……

“Slopes easily accessible, spa was nice, but jacuzzi’s were not functioning properly. Water temperature could have been warmer in the pool and jacuzzi. ”

“The refuge cancelled our booking on the day. This might be ok for a normal hotel but when the hotel is in the middle of a mountain, only accessible by a 2.5 hour hike (or a tiny train that is on strike - it’s France after all) then it is simply unacceptable to let your guests arrive at the door tired, hungry & thirsty to see a sign that says ‘sorry we’re closed, we tried to contact you’. We had indeed received a message from the hotel that morning but it confirmed that, despite the train strike,……
