Nearby the lake and less than an hour drive from Whakapapa Ski Field is where you will find Te Kuru Cabin - a place to escape from it all and enjoy your Pukawak Bay holiday!

Te Kuru Cabin is a tucked away and surrounded by native greenery, creating a private escape for your next trip to Pukawa Bay. Whether it is Summer or Winter this cabin is fitted with all the essentials you might need for easy holiday living, including a dishwasher and TV.

Sit by the fireplace to keep you toasty and warm at the end of a day spent on the mountain, or lounge out on the sundeck, equipped with a BBQ, to enjoy those alfresco meals as the sun goes down. If you fancy some trout fishing be sure to head the Tongariro River and try to catch something fresh for the BBQ.

This laid-back getaway is an easy option for families and couples, within a 10-minute walk to the boat ramp and lake edge. Spend your days on the water, enjoy strolls along the lake edge, soaking in the Tokaanu Hot Pools or for the more adventurous of you there is the Tongariro Crossing.

Pukawa is a beautiful place to stay. We enjoyed our stay in a rustic kiwi bach with a big deck surrounded by native trees and lots of local Tūī and Kererū to keep us entertained. It’s only a 5 min walk down to the Lake where there is a beautiful sheltered beach.

Cozy and Just Fantastic!

The property was just as advertised. We had such a pleasant stay. Everything we needed is available. The bed was nice and comfy. It felt like our home away from home. The location was pretty handy too. It wasn't too far from either ski field and was so close to Turangi for groceries and gas. It's a shame we didn't stay longer and the weather wasn't so great. We could have explored the lakeside and surrounding areas more! Definitely worth a come back!

Unclean and poor communication.

We arrived to an unclean property, with spiders and cobwebs everywhere. No manual about what was expected of us, the area, rubbish info etc. Boat parked in carport so no room except for road for ours. Lots of items in pantry 3-5 years expired. Paid for linen but none. Person came second day but too late. A refund for that and a clean at a minimum is expected.

Homely bach, very tranquil spot. If you have young kids, and are planning to stay in winter, be aware there is no fire safety guard for the wood burner.

Great to be back.

This is the second time we have stayed here, it is a great place for two families, a beautiful location and very comfortable. We skied, biked, walked and swam. We were especially grateful for Katarina's help. When we ran out of firewood she was very quick to arrange a delivery of more wood. We would love to stay again and highly recommend the place.

Lovely bach

Great little bach. This was in a lovely, quiet location with lots of greenery and bunnies around. It felt private even though there were other houses close by. It was lovely for a winter holiday with the log fire. There was a gorgeous beach just down the road, and it wasn’t far to Turangi and Whakapapa for skiing. We’d love to come back, maybe a summer trip mext time!

Winter snow trip

We stayed in this cosy little home for two nights during the winter. We comfortably stayed with 5 adults and 3 children. With wood included in the price of our stay, the house was warm and cosy and was in close range to the tongariro alpine crossing and turangi is 15min drive away if you require anything. We enjoyed our stay and the kids loved the big bunk beds. Thank you for having us! We’ll be back if we are ever down that way again 🙂
