The rooms at Bávaro Barcelo Palace are nice, and the amenities are truly endless for both families and couples. That said, the service leaves a lot to be desired and cleanliness was very much lacking. While getting a drink at the bar is quick and efficient, everything else, daily room turnover, buffet service, and making reservations, feels like pulling teeth. It’s a massive resort with 8,000+ rooms, but it’s clearly understaffed when it comes to proper customer service. A simple smile or good attitude would go a long way. The gym is extremely small and nearly impossible to use given the resort’s size. The pools are loud, making it hard to relax, and the beach is so crowded you need to wake up at 7 a.m. just to secure a chair. Buffet food is disappointing, and the restaurants generally underperform. That said, some positives stand out. The bar staff are impeccable at pumping out drinks quickly, and well-maintained. If you’ve been to the Dominican before, you’ll also appreciate being left relatively hassle-free by beach vendors. These factors are what nudged my rating up from a 2 to a 3. Would I stay here again? Maybe—but smaller, modern resorts with more personalized service and higher quality dining might be a better fit.

This property was great, it was quiet at night, the beach was beautiful, the pools were nice. The dining options were great, the Italian restaurant was our favorite. The staff were friendly, the service was great, and our room was very clean. We would definitely come back. It was a great place for families.

Upon arrival, the room keys did not work three times. Once I finally got into the room, I noticed that the bathroom is completely outdated. I asked the staff if they could accommodate me with a better room. I was told no. After going back to take a shower, the entire shower faucet fell off. I am livid. Staff she always take their customers feelings into consideration probably won’t be back nor would I recommend.

stay is quite comfortable, lot of good swimming pool and quite a good property but not great food. Buffet has no variety. There are lot of restaurants but couldn’t get a single one because it was all booked even during off peak season. Either they need to add more restaurants or become more efficient to accommodate more people. Their app doesn’t work so have to reserve restaurants at the main desk lobby. Check in was miserable. Had to wait 2 hours just for checkin with total 6 families together

They boast of 11 restaurants but there was no reservation available even for a family of 4. We spent hours waiting in line and talking to concierge just to book a dinner reservation only to be told that nothing is available. We went to front desk and they said that they only manage rooms and restaurants are managed by concierge. So we paid $4000 only for 2 buffet restaurants and 1 sports bar. Terrible experience.

There are many pros and cons regarding this resort, main con the lack of staff that could speak English which was difficult. Use Google Translate whenever possible. Pros: Beaches and pools are beautiful Resort was always clean Casino surprisingly paid out well Drinks were tasty The couple’s massage was amazing, and you get a bottle of champagne & private pool access for 30 mins after The pool party was SO fun! Staff was very engaging and enthusiastic Food was good at the sports bar, service was just ok We enjoyed the Japanese hibachi restaurant but he seemed very rushed Cons: Costs $10 to get a taxi just to go to the main hotel entrance (we booked an excursion and they were not able to drive in which would have been nice to know). Walking isn’t an option due to distance No poolside service so you need to get up to get beverages. And no eating at the pool area so you need to get “dressed” to go to one of the buffets. Girls cannot eat in the buffets without pants (even if they have a t-shirt and shoes on) Bowling, escape room and other activities cost additional money (but they were nice additions) When we asked for room cleaning service (they came at like 9am and we were still in bed), I had to ask multiple people & it didn’t get done (see language barrier!) Beautiful resort, lots of amenities/activities, clean grounds, good food in adult only section, friendly staff. Cons: Main buffet needs to have cleaner floors - super greasy where we almost fell. Some rude staff in spa and a gift shop.

Had a complimentary upgrade to Premium. I will never pay for this service at Barcelo Bavaro. I had to beg for ala carte dinner reservations and never saw our butler after the first day. Love the resort, just very disappointed in the upgrade.

The breakfast, lunch and dinner were amazing. As a premium level member you can go to breakfast and lunch to Coral or Italian restaurant. Italian restaurant serves a la carte breakfast and lunch.This luxury property is very well kept with clean pools and ocean next to the pool.The only thing I did not like is the old and small bathrooms in the beach area. But there are plenty of options where else to go. Property is huge, beach is long. They clean it every morning. I liked water attractions: kayaking, catamaran, banana. Turns out there are 2 dolphinariums in the ocean around 600 feet from the shore🙂

For starters, the staff at this resort are rude. Unless you speak Spanish or are of European descent, they are rude. Do not answer questions and brush you off. Second, the food is disgusting. The buffet style food is nasty. There is no real variety and it got my family sick, literally throwing up for days. Had to skip it for food at the sports bar which is also buffet style, but tastes alittle better. The Barcy water park for children is nice, that's why I gave 2 stars. The room is decent, but the lights blacked out a few times for a couple minutes and we could not get them back on. Also, first day there was no wash cloths. Had to call multiple times to get them, and they came the next day. Wouldn't recommend or be returning here
