From minuses - The property is a bit dated. If you stay at the ground floor the parking is just through your window so can be very noisy. There is no zebra crossing on the road and no pavement on the side of the road where the hotel is so it is a bit dangerous to cross the road if you need to walk down hill (to work or to the train station). From pluses - the staff is super friendly and helpful. The room has new tea, coffee and biscuits delivered every day. The breakfast is really nice with lots of options.

It's been a bit refreshed but is a bit dated still. Room was ok, stain on the duvet cover which was a bit off putting. However - the real issue, buy a drink at the bar £6, I get another, get some food - and that when I noticed service charges suddenly being added without my approval and without any notification that they would include it! Next drink was nearly £8! I will be raising this with the hotel but be aware - I'm not impressed!

We have been guests for over 2 years and on this last visit was superb! Undoubtedly significant dining changes specifically breakfast area. Amiss is an extreme customer service devotee and ensures her guests experience their morning beginnings with a smile and the best service. Much improvement to kitchen culinary staff food was fresh and delicious not dried up left overs like before a few months in spring. 5 stars

Made to feel welcome by staff and enjoyed a pleasant stay. Would have preferred a dedicated shower cubicle in bathroom as getting in out of bath to shower was awkward and nearly fell backwards getting out

Nice place to stay
A great stay overall, our only slight complaint was that breakfast was not great although the room it is served in is full of character. Reception staff are very friendly and helpful

Recent stay
Our recent visit started on a bad note when the hotel tried to double charge us even though we had prepaid, the room was very noisy, there was an event on and I could not sleep. I had a terrible night sleep and woke up exhausted. The breakfast was average, not great. The hotel needs to do better. I will not be back ever again that is for sure.

We only take pre-authorisation which means the funds are only on hold on your account and it got released straight away therefore you haven't double paid for the room.
