I booked a few nights at this property when I unexpectedly had to be in Reno for business. I booked it in a rush without looking at the reviews.
The room itself was fine. It was clean, had good cold AC, a decent shower and clean sheets. I’m paranoid about hotel bedbugs, so I thouroughly checked the bed and bed sheets. They use bedbug repellent mattress covers, which was good.
The downside is the area/location. It’s across from Circus Circus and in the filthiest, most rundown part of the Reno casino strip. When we checked in, there were 3-4 guys just sitting in front of the building, loitering around, smoking (what smelled like marijuana), drinking cans of beer, one shirtless guy screaming at the sky. If I hadn’t prepaid for the stay, I would’ve left immediately. The outdoor stairwell had cigarette butts on the stairs, discarded beers cans and who knows what else.
The nighttime is the worst. Random (or maybe the same) cars rev and peel out at the front of the building every 15 minutes. It’s so loud and disturbing and goes on until 2:00-3:00am. Cars will also blast music all throughout the night. Of course, there is no law enforcement presence at all, so all the antics just go on all night.
I’ve never reviewed a hotel with 1-2 stars before, but I’ve also never stayed in a hotel that made me feel so uncomfortable and uneasy with the surroundings. I wouldn’t recommend this place. And, if you have young children, I would definitely suggest looking somewhere else.
