"Having seen a lot of goof reviews of this casa, I felt a completely different experience. First of all, the environment around the casa is poor and the facilities inside the room were dilapidated and malfunctioning. Additionally, the service is very concerning. The owner Alay and his wife were irresponsible and were attempting to overcharge all the services that they provided, pretending that they didn’t understand English. "Juni es una persona maravillosa que estuvo pendiente de nosotras y de ayudarnos en todo momento. El alojamiento maravilloso, no tan lejos del centro de Matanzas. Un lugar MUY limpio y cuidado al detalle. Lo recomiendo y deseo volver a Matanzas para alojarme aquí y volver aa ver a Juni. "Mara is a wonderful host! It was such a pleasure staying at this location A few things to keep in mind: - There's no wifi at the residence but you can purchase a cheap wifi card from a store close to the park in Santa Marta. You'll have to ask around to find out where to purchase it and where your devices will get reception - Mara doesn't cook breakfast for visitors but there are stalls and restaurants close to the residence that you can purchase food from - The electricity does go out somewhat frequently. Mara has a generator but it only powers a fan, it doesn't power the A/C - things like black tea are very difficult to find in Santa Marta. Please bring your own black tea if it's an essential for you Even though I've mentioned all of the above, we had a phenomenal time and we are very grateful to Mara for being such a great host. She was very helpful and kind!"

Casa Isis Playa Tropical BOCA DE CAMARIOCA

"We had a lovely time staying with Isis. Her and her husband are truly lovely people. Their home was immaculately clean, they were friendly and welcoming without being overbearing, and the location was excellent. We were able to enjoy the beach which is only a block away and felt safe in the area even at night. The location is close to town and great restaurants. We had everything we needed in the home and Isis was always ready to give you whatever you needed. They were so sweet. It felt like you were staying with family. We loved lounging in their garden."

"Absolutely lovely space, we stayed here in Feb 2024 and can't wait to return! The room was spacious with a king size bed and had a large bathroom with twin sinks, soaker tub and a gorgeous tiled shower. Swimming is close by maybe 200m, in a sheltered bay. It's a public beach, but quiet. There is no lifeguard. Restaurants are close by, within 800m so an easy walk, but our host Jiscily makes such a wonderful breakfast that we gladly paid the extra. There is no scheduled garbage pickup in Boca, apparently, so don't be surprised if you see garbage on the streets, watch your step. There are foot washing areas near the entrance so you don't need to track sand upstairs. Thank you Olga and Jiscily for a terrific stay!"

"This was my second time staying at this casa particulares. Ownership or management has changed and Edith is outstanding. She is on Whatsap so response is very prompt. I am a trekker so my goal is to stay in basic and affordable accommodations but more important in proximity to the main plaza as well as places I am visiting. I travel to Matanzas via the Viazul so the cost of a taxi from the bus terminal to the property is approximately 750-1000 pesos.which translated to under $3USD. The trick is make sure you get a good exchange for your money. The property is full service as included in my price was breakfast (my request was simply coffee and fruit). Upon request Edith will make the internet available. You will receive a key to your room. As for coming/going, simply text Edith when you are about 10 minutes from the property and she/someone will be there to open the front door. The property has been recently restored so you are in for a very nice treat. Again, my preference is casa particulares and never a hotel, because I prefer to immerse myself with Cubans and enjoy the cultural exchange."
