My sister and I enjoyed our stay. It was challenging to find as we were exhausted from our trip but Nuno was very helpful and a very responsive host. Lovely to hear the waves crashing on the rocks below. We were disappointed that we could only see the waves and ocean if we were standing on the terrace (not while sitting). Comfortable beds. Overall it is a nice place to stay.

Great beach house with an unbelievable view!
Nuno was very attentive to every detail during our stay. It was very easy to communicate with him. The house is perched above a cliff with a trail diwn to the cove. The outdoor space was lovely allowed for us to enjoy a glass of wine under cover and protected from the wind and rain. Nuno provided all the amenities and made ut very easy for us to cook a few meals. Nuno recommended a restaurant nearby, Mare Cheia and they had amazing fish brought to your table for you to select. Was thevest tuna I've ever had! Obrigado Nuno!

Awesome stay in Sao Miguel
My wife and I enjoyed our amazing trek and we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Casa do Mar. From going to bed at the sound of waves crashing against the shore to roosters wakening us, it was a treat to enjoy the house on the cliff. The country is so beautiful and we enjoyed the local cuisine. This location does require access to a rental car to get around. If you are looking for a location away from the city, yet right on the coast, this is the place for you.

Awesome visit
From the get go the host, Nuno, was very helpful and informative. The house is cozy and very clean, not to mention the view from the deck. The clothes washer was also a plus. We were able to park off the street, which was great as the streets are narrow. We highly recommend this facility.

Beautiful location but needs a little attention
Very nice, quiet location overlooking the ocean. It is possible to walk down to the beach but pay attention, as the path is not well maintained. Property manager very good with communication about check-in. Best feature of the house is the spacious porch with outdoor shower. When we arrived, the house was very hot, especially the upstairs where the bedrooms are (all windows were closed, and there is only one small fan in one bedroom). We also encountered a few large cockroaches. House could be amazing but needs some loving touches.

Rental with a view!
This is a great place to stay if you want to be more in an “off the beaten path” area with beautiful views. It is in walking distance to a nearby waterfall and beach bar/cafe. You can also climb down to a secluded beach area right by the house. It is also in a central location to get to all the key sites on the island. I would caution that taller/larger people would find it a challenge with the low ceilings and a small shower. Nuno is great with communication for anything needed.

Beautiful property, stay here you won’t regret it
Very helpful host and beautiful views distinguish this house with so much charm and great location. Half hour from Ponta Delgada and ten minute walk from a fantastic beach and small local restaurant. Great spot to explore the island from, but honestly you would be fine just staying here and doing nothing too. Go see the local waterfall!

A Wonderful Stay!
Nuno’s house was perfect for us. The location was convenient to all of the island. We loved the little village of Porto Formosa and hope to return. There are some tucked away gems of restaurants in the village that outdid the food we ate in the larger cities. The local beach Praia dos Moinhas was outstanding and a short stroll away. Nuno always responded right away to our questions and was a terrific host. We could not have chosen a better place to spend a week (that went by all too fast).

Spectacular View
Interesting and authentic house on a beautiful cliff top location on San Miguel. Great for accessing the north and eastern areas of the island. Likely the single most incredible view of the surf from the bedroom window. Nice deck to grill out, watch the waves and have a meal. Host - Nuno was great and checked in to make sure everything was right. Everything you need for a great stay.

Stunning cottage by the sea
This gorgeous retreat came exactly as advertised. Indeed, the views were even more stunning in person that in the pictures. The property is centrally located and made it easy to access all of the main sites on the island. It was the perfect getaway for us and our two teenagers! One note of caution: The bedrooms are located in a loft-style second floor with low, slanted ceilings (maybe not ideal for very tall people!)

Beautiful spot of paradise!
Beautiful house right near the cliffs and a private beach of Porto Formoso. Had everything we needed and the patio outside was perfect to enjoy a coffee and breakfast to hear and see the waves crash amongst the rocks. You can hear the roosters and birds and it’s a beautiful please to relax. Highly recommend staying here!

Nuno’s House by the sea is wonderful! Beautifully decorated, all the necessary amenities, comfortable bed, great views, clean, and such a great location for seeing the island. (A previous review noted that there’s only a curtain between the two queen beds - we had a door that closed between the beds. So, maybe that’s new, but good to note.) If we go back to Sao Miguel, I won’t hesitate to book this property again.

Pefect place, time, and host
Coming from a place wrecked with snow throughout the winter, February in the Azores is far from uncomfortable. This house only made it better. Cozy is a perfect term for it, and it's perfect for 2-3 people. Can't complain about waking up to the sights and sounds of the ocean waves, and the location makes it easy to drive anywhere in under an hour. Having been in the off-season, I can see how it's probably a far busier summer season; great bean within walking distance, along with a great trail. The main downstairs room could maybe benefit from another couch-style chair or seating, and other than a low-ish ceiling in the bedrooms, there was nothing but good things. Nuno was great, prompt, and just a nice guy. Wish him all the best.

Beautiful villa in quaint village
Casa do Mar was a wonderful cozy surprise. Yves' heart art (you will see it all around the island) welcomes you in. The views and atmosphere surrounding the property are breath taking. Short distance from the house is the village of Praia dos Moinhos where there are a couple of places to eat and a nice black sand beach. Also there are nature trails, vistas, secluded locations not far. A good central location on the island with easy access to the highway. Nuno was a very hospitable host and provided everything that was needed. In all a very enjoyable experience.

See the sea from the comfort of your bedroom.
Just spent a week at Casa do Mar, and we didn't want to leave. The house is immaculate and well-equipped. It has a gorgeous view, with a terrace, in a lovely little village. It is walking distance to the beach and 3 local restaurants. There is a hiking trail nearby, and, if you get tired of the view and have a car, there are many things to do within an easy drive. We plan to go back to stay in this lovely spot again soon.

Idyllic Location!
We loved staying in the beach house! The views from the bedrooms and the deck were amazing. The house is located in the little village of Porto Formosa, giving us an "off-the-beaten-path" Azorean experience. After visiting the touristy Ponta Delgada, we really appreciated our quaint house on the opposite side of the island. Nuno was a very accommodating host and the house was immaculate. Just a note - the second bedroom is only separated from the other bedroom by a curtain, so those wanting more privacy (i.e., two couples rather than a family) need to be aware.

Peaceful cosy house with amazing views of the sea
Thank you to Nuno and Marta for a fantastic stay at you beautiful home. It was immaculately clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The views of the sea were amazing and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony of an evening after a busy day exploring the island. The property was in a quiet village but easily accessible for the island . We would recommend staying here , we were made to feel most welcome by Nuno and Marta. Thank you for your hospitality. On the whole the Azores is a fantastic place to visit , where the locals are extremely friendly. The scenery is amazing with many walks, hikes and hot springs to enjoy.

Absolutely loved this home away. A beautiful spot and conviently located to get around the island.
We can’t say enough about this house. The setting right on the north coast was spectacular. We awoke everyday and sat on the beautiful private little patio and enjoyed our breakfast.Nuno and Marta were easy to reach, helpful, friendly, perfect hosts. Comfy with Spectacular views
Nuno was a fabulous host & the unit had everything we needed for a great stay. The location was just out of the way enough to give the real flavour of life in Sao Miguel. Yet we were only a short car ride away from Ponte Delgada's shops & Restaurants, the Tea plantation, or the hot springs of Furnas. Add breathtaking vistas in all directions and you have the formula for a unique vacation experience.

House with character in a beautiful location
The house is very clean, well equipped and has lots of character. Marta and Nuno went out of their way to add personal touches such as a welcome basket of food and Christmas decorations. It was great to be able to sit out on the terrace and enjoy the fantastic sea views. The location of the house is very convenient for touring the island especially since it has easy access to the fast road linking Ponta Delgada and Nordeste.

Convenient and comfy
Our family of four stayed here off season for the US Thanksgiving holiday week in Nov. The location is beautiful- tucked in right on the water with cRashing waves beliw to lull us to sleep at night. The beds were comfortable, kitchen well supplied and Nuno was very helpful and accommodating, meeting is a bit early to let us take a jet lagged snooze. the location was tucked into a quiet village, a short walk to the beach, which served as a nice central launch position for jaunts anywhere around the island. Only 10 minutes from the 2nd largest city Ribeira Grande, which offered wonderful dining and shopping, not to mention So many miradoura (golden views). We appreciated being able to truly experience the island, where cows outnumber people 3:1 and the pace of life is designed to relax and enjoy. I think Furnas was our favorite town to visit. We look forward to returning to see the beautiful island during its peak blooming season, but really enjoyed the lack of crowds during our stay here. Obrigada, Nuno!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay Sleeping to the sound of the ocean and quick walk to the beach. This central location make the whole Island accessible. Nice hiking trails and seaside village are a short distance away. The owner were wonderful responding quickly to a questions. I would recommend this property

Wundervolle Lage
Gerade die Terrasse hat einen tollen Blick – zudem ist alles sehr liebevoll eingerichtet. Unser Host war wahnsinnig freundlich und hilfsbereit. Einzig ein Tipp: Mit Kleinkindern etwas schwierig, da überall offene Treppen und Geländer (durch die Kinder durchpassen) sind, v.a. sogar beim zweiten Schlafzimmer. Sonst gern wieder.

Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt, grandiose Blicke aufs Meer aus allen Fenstern und der Dachterrasse. Die Lage des liebevoll eingerichteten Hauses ist sehr zentral für alle Ausflüge, fussläufig ein gutes Fischrestaurant am Strand . Ganz herzlichen Dank an unsere Vermieter, die uns mit einen bunten Begrüssungskorb begrüßt haben, so dass wir fürs erste leiblich gut versorgt waren, neben vielen bunten Blumen in den Vasen.

Perfekte Lage und beste Gastgeber
Die Lage (Meerblick auch aus dem Schlafzimmer -liegend !!; ) ist auch für die Ausflüge der Inselhighlights und Strände Ideal. Nuno und seine Frau sind sehr sympathische, zuvorkommende und großzügige Gastgeber, die gleich zur Stelle sind, Sonderwünsche gerne erfüllen und eine ehrliches Interesse an den Gästen haben. Der Weg zum Strand war zu unserer Reisezeit durch einen Erdrutsch schwer begehbar. Das Baden hier ist wegen großer Steine nur bei sehr geringem Wellengang möglich. Der 400m entfernte Sandstrand ist perfekt. (Hinter dem Parkplatz und Zeltplatz gibt es eine Schlucht mit Wasserfall und Bademöglichkeit die nicht beschildert ist...) Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen! Google-Translation:Perfect location and best hostsThe location (sea view from the bedroom-lying !!) is also ideal for trips to the island highlights and beaches. Nuno and his wife are very sympathetic, courteous and generous hosts who are on hand, special requests and an honest interest in the guests. The way to the beach was at our travel time by a landslide difficult to walk. The bathing is possible because of large stones only at very low waves. The 400m distant sandy beach is perfect. (Behind the parking lot and campground there is a gorge with a waterfall and swimming is not signposted ...) We enjoyed our stay very much!

Wir wurden von Nuno sehr freundlich empfangen, insgesamt sehr nette Kommunikation. Das Haus ist einfach aber schön eingerichtet, alles war sehr sauber. Einzig etwas mehr Besteck, Teller und Gläser könnten vorhanden sein. Perfekte Lage im Sao Miguel zu erkunden, aber auch um kurz den sehr schönen Strand "Dos Moinhos" zu besuchen. Muito obrigado, Fam. Very nice little house with a great view on the sea! The house is very clean with everything we could need during our stay. Nuno and his wife are very nice and helpfull! We would have loved to discuss more with them about their life on the Island. Last thing, the house is just nearby a small beach which is just perfect because not to crowdy!!! We would have loved to stay longer in this house but it was not available. Thank you very much Nuno for everything. It has been a pleasure to meeting you and to stay a few days in your lovely house.

Amazing
The house is just wonderful! With a amazing view about the ocean and the sound of the waves.Incredible beach and perfect location to explore the island. Marta and Nuno are really kind hosts and always helpful. We think that Porto Formoso is the best place to stay on San Miguel.Thanks a lot!

Honeymoon on the azores
It was a very pleasant residence. The view and the sound invite to enjoy the life in the azorean way. For honeymoon, there is no more better place on earth. Surrounded by the nature and wrapped in the original silence is this house located in a good basic position for all places to go on the island. I recommended this beautiful place for all that fell in love and friends of nature or people they will explore the azorean. Hey people, let's have a shot. Best Regards Martin & Claudia
