Hotel scambiato

La mia valutazione è negativa perché innanzitutto non abbiamo mai soggiornato all hotel Sistina. Subito appena arrivati davanti l hotel c'era un avviso in cui ci in formavano della chiusura della struttura e quindi trasferiti all hotel Eliseo. Non abbiamo ricevuto nessuna comunicazione nei giorni precedenti l arrivo. L'hotel Eliseo è classificato con quattro stelle ma io ne do al massimo tre! Personale poco disposto a dare indicazioni, accoglienza scadente, molta freddezza. Collaborazione tra colleghi di cambio turno scarsa, ci volevano fare pagare due volte. Un punto a favore della colazione che viene offerta al sesto piano con bella vista. Punti di interesse vicino ma cmq da fare un po di strada. Sicuramente non ci andremo più

Charming Lobby, Dated Rooms

The lobby is really nice, decorated in Baroque fashion and has an old world class. One young man of the staff was really nice and helpful, but the older staff there were grumpy. The rooms are outdated and there were cobwebs on the lamps. The shower had really good pressure, though, and they did offer a kettle and mini bar. I kind of felt like I was in National Lampoons European Vacation, but without the shared bathroom! I did not see their balcony, only open for breakfast, as I skipped breakfast. The hotel is in a REALLY good location, though.

A parte che non ho alloggiato all'hotel sistina ma all'hotel eliseo, l'esperienza é stata piacevole. Non ho amato l'aver scoperto all'arrivo il cambio di hotel.. Però nell'altra struttura il personale è stato gentile e la recensione si riferisce all'hotel eliseo.

Avevo effettuato prenotazione per Hotel Sistina, ma solo grazie a una telefonata che mi è venuto in mente di fare all'hotel alcuni giorni prima del mio arrivo ho scoperto che era CHIUSO nei giorni da me prenotati e ho potuto correre ai ripari chiedendo di essere dirottato in altro hotel.

Comfort and a feeling of home

I stay at the Hotel Sistina when I am in Roma. The staff is excellent and the rooms are comfortable and clean. It is very, very near the Spanish Steps and the elegant shopping area near the Steps.

Slightly grand, slightly faded, excellent location

This is a hotel that needs some refurbishment but it has excellent, professional front desk staff and a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. The location is towards the bottom of Via Sistina, so it is perfect for sightseeing. I did not try the free breakfast. Wifi is free. My room was in Regency style - striped wallpaper, good quality reproduction wooden furniture and the bathroom was marble with mosaic tiles and a mirror extending for half the wall, so the lighting was excellent. Slippers and toiletries provided. The hairdryer was okay. The shower was hot and the cubicle enclosed so the floor does not get wet. Safe, kettle and fridge in room. The hotel was full but generally quiet. The down points are some might find the need for refurbishment an issue - the wallpaper in my room was torn in one area and worn. I didn't not mind this so much because of the plus points - and Rome is full of faded grandeur, which I like. I have stayed here twice in different rooms and my main issue this time was hearing people very clearly in the next room. I would stay here again, however - I like the hotel's style, the location is fantastic and the rooms I have stayed in have been clean and very comfortable. There is also an excellent trattoria next door, La Botte Antica, which serves excellent food and has a lively atmosphere.

Felt like I was in a traditional Roman hotel. It was perfect location to walk to almost any popular site. The Spanish steps are up the street and trevi fountain is about a minute walk away. The hotel staff is very helpful in recommending or calling restaurants for dinner reservations as well. I will say that I was worried about pickpocketers in Rome, and going to tourist trap restaurants. Pickpocketers were no issue BUT, taxis robbed you blind. They would trick you in saying you only gave them a 5 instead of a 20 or 10 instead of a 50. You need to watch how much they are tracking you trip on the meter as well.

As soon as I came to check in I was greeted by a member of staff (can’t remember his name) but he is Egyptian I believe. He was absolutely lovely and offered to provide me with any help and it felt very genuine so made a difference immediately! The hotel is very central it is very nice. However it seems to be an old hotel so the rooms are a bit outdated with the decorations but regardless, everything worked fine. The balcony is nice to sit in and chill as I never saw anyone up there! Only negative is the breakfast which I found not good at all. It was very very limited and i get that it is a continential breakfast however it wasn’t very appetising. There aren’t much options to choose from so I was eating bread and butter and a very sweet crossaint before going to get actual breakfast. I think if that improves it would be perfect Overall a lovely hotel with an outstanding member of staff and in a great location right next to the Spanish steps.
