Matisse charming old town

Completely embellished with wooden ceilings and floors in warm Tuscan terracotta, the apartment is a historic monument protected by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and has a beautiful sunny terrace of about 40 m2 where you can relax and have lunch outdoors and gives the opportunity to organize lunches or dinners for work or with friends. The terrace is furnished with a table, chairs and deck chairs. Located in the most authentic part of Rome, a short walk from many of its most fascinating monuments, the apartment is the ideal retreat to return home after a day spent visiting the city. An excellent choice, well positioned it fits very well for a couple or a small family. On the first floor, without elevator, of a building located in a typical alley of the historic center of Rome, the apartment has been recently renovated. Beautiful wooden ceilings and warm Tuscan terracotta floors frame tastefully the finely furnished rooms, where attention to detail is the first concern. The spacious living room has a double bed and sofa bed (convertible into a double bed for the 3rd and 4th guests), a television and a dining table with 4 chairs. From here you can access a terrace furnished with a table, chairs and deckchairs. The separate kitchen is compact and modern, and fully equipped. The bathroom has a spacious shower. The apartment was exactly as described. Location is perfect- close to the Centro Storico and Piazza Navona, but it's on a really quiet street, which is a major plus in a city like Rome. No outside noise whatsoever.A/C in both rooms works well. There is only one easy flight of stairs, and we loved the outdoor terrace. The only glitch was that there was no extra toilet paper, so we had to buy some at the nearby market since the host was not able to immediately provide it. However, Europeans don't use TP the way Americans do, so this was not a huge surprise ;-)Although this is technically a 1-bedroom, the fact that there is a regular queen-sized bed in the main living area gives it a 2-bedroom quality. Also, the two bathrooms are on opposite sides of the unit, providing privacy and space for a couple or family.We loved the apartment and would stay here again.

Patio!

The wraparound patio is a slide of heaven and something you just do not find anywhere in Rome. It’s amazing. Benedetta took care of everything for us. Communication was wonderful. The location is super central and very safe. The apartment is huge and has everything you need for a short or extended stay.

Be aware

Pros - Host Benadetta is wonderful - Excellent Location - Very quiet - Bright open airy space with lots of room - Adequate kitchen - Good water pressure - Lots of hot water -The bed in the living space is very comfortable - Great internet - Very quiet Cons - The bed in the bedroom has a foam mattress topper on it that is 30cm/12 inches narrower than the mattress. No way that 2 people can sleep on it. - The small couch has no mattress inside. Because the mattress has been removed it is impossible to sit on it. The slats underneath cave in and break. - The bathtub shower has only one shower curtain panel. The panel only covers half the space. The rings for the other panel are there, they just haven’t replaced it. Because of this water sprays all over the floor when you have a shower. - The shower in the second bathroom is very dirty. - The deck furniture is filthy dirty. The outdoor couch can not be used because the cushions are so dirty. The couch would need a removable cover in order to be usable. The deck is covered with buckets, mops and cleaning supplies. It is not as it appears on the website. - I scrubbed 2 of the deck chairs myself with soapy water and a brush just so we could sit at the outdoor table. - There are only 2 table knives in the kitchen. Not a big deal but they need to be replaced. - in general the place is very run down and needs a good refurbish.

A lovely oasis in the city center

This is a great location. It is in the very active historic center but the apartment is peaceful and has a wonderful outside area. Great WiFi and the kitchen is adequate enough for easy meals. Communication was quick and friendly. We really appreciated all of the property manager’s help in navigating the apartment and Rome itself. There are plenty of great options nearby for coffee, gelato, meals and even groceries and they gave us many tips for where to go etc…. We would gladly stay here again!

Nice Location but needs work

First, Benedetta was an amazing host with great suggestions and help resolving transportation issues. The patio was charming and was a great amenity. The location was perfect for our first visit to Roma. The property is worn. The sofabed is very uncomfortable and should not be considered a third bed in the rental description. In fact, the sofa itself is worn and very uncomfortable. The refrigerator freezer was packed with old food and ice buildup making it unusable. This apartment works for two couples, but not for any combination that needs three beds.

Amazing!

Everything about our trip to Rome was amazing. We spent 9 days at the apartment and it was in the perfect location. We could walk everywhere and there was plenty of room for my husband and I and our two teenagers. There was a supermarket, pharmacy, coffee shop, wine shop, bookstore, bakery, and many restaurants and stores within a few blocks. Benedetta was terrific and arranged a car service for us to be picked up and dropped off at the airport. The apartment had everything we needed including a small kitchen and a washing machine. We cannot wait to return to Rome and would definitely stay at this apartment again.

Pre-cruise trip to Rome

We are 4 friends, in our 50’s, travelling to Rome for a pre-cruise visit. I was drawn to this property because of the location, charm and two bathrooms! Rare in Rome. We had a little difficulty with our check in, but I will take responsibility here because my WhatsApp stopped working and I was unable to reactivate it, so Benedetta’s messages were not coming through to me. Through VRBO messaging, Alessandro was able to provide us the info we needed. We arrived at the apartment and were very grateful that we were able to check in early. The apartment was sweet, and the balcony shown in the photos is a private balcony for that apartment. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony for breakfast and evening glasses of wine. I would definitely return to this property as the location is very central for visiting all of the tourist attractions. There are also fabulous restaurants close by and a great little grocery store for picking up necessities. Benedetta was absolutely fabulous. She is kind, offers great recommendations and has a wonderful energy. She was such a pleasure to deal with. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Rome. Thank you Benedetta!!

Superb service and lovely flat in quaint well located area.

Benedetta is the shining star and saving grace for our stay at this lovely flat. She goes beyond anything we have ever seen in the way of service. Location is very good for walking everywhere, including Pantheon, Coliseum and Vatican. Tons of great cafes, bars and shops available all with unique things to offer. Also supermarkets, pharmacies and anything for the sundry needs that may arise. Fully equipped kitchen for a meal to be reheated or made. Two bathrooms and a very comfortable bed in the main room,(where we slept). This is an old apt that has been updated. It would be important to note that while it is a 1st floor unit it does include two sets of stairs. A wonderful stay for us!

Spacious apartment in a great area

My husband and I spent 6 nights in the apartment and were very comfortable and happy. There is a lot of room to spread out inside and a lovely patio outside. It is quiet all day since it faces the back of the building. Benedetta was very informative and helpful! She arranged our ride from the airport, told us about good places to shop for food, and recommended restaurants. We ate at 3 of her recommend places. We are on the train out of Roma and missing it already!

Charming apartment in a nice area but time for an update

The neighborhood was great with several restaurants and bars. Very walkable to many of the major sites (about 1 mile). The apartment itself has plenty of elbow room and private terrace area. The A/C worked well which was appreciated since most places in Rome like the fresh (and warm) air. The only reason the property wasn't 5 star for us was both showers were awkward and needed to be cleaned and updated. One shower would not drain properly and needed the grout to be cleaned and the caulking to be redone so it would be clean. The other shower had the head coming out in the middle of the tub, which causes water to go everywhere causing water stains outside the tub and a bit dirty. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the manager was great and responsive.

Great location and apt.

Benedetta was very friendly and welcomed us to Rome. She explained everything we needed to know about the apt and tips on touring Rome and restaurants. Air conditioning worked well during a hot spell in Rome, comfortable beds and lots of room for a family of 4. Location was in the heart of Rome, and quiet and conveniently located near coffee shops and groceries. Within walking distance to most historic monuments. Thank you for your hospitality.

A great place to stay in Rome

This VRBO is in a great location. About equidistant from the Vatican and Colosseum; both are walkable in about 1/2 hour. Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Trevi, Trastevere, and the Jewish Ghetto are all between 10 and 20 minutes by foot. It's clean, and the air conditioning and washing machine are life savers. Benedetta (the property manager) is SUPER. She helped with everything, from logistics to recommendations for restaurants and neighborhoods. Any time we had a question we could message her and she would get back to us in just a few minutes. I can't say enough good things about her. We polished off several bottles of wine on the rooftop terrace! That was definitely a bonus.

Great location and perfect place!

This was a great place to stay for our trip to Roma. Walking distance to everything or a short taxi ride. The property was perfect for us to have some space, wash a couple clothes and store water and some snack food to eat. Benedetta was excellent in providing us with transportation and ideas. Flat Matisse

We enjoyed our stay at the Flat Matisse very much. Apartment is very cozy, clean and has everything you need, like a small kitchen with a dishwasher, utensils, even pots/pans and a small gas stove for cooking. It has a private terrace to enjoy your meals outside. There were three adults in our party and this apartment can accommodate up to 5-6 people. It was great that it has two bathrooms. It’s a walking distance to all main attractions and a lot of restaurants. Our host Benedetta was amazing! She answered all of our questions and was always super quick to respond and was very helpful. We also arranged a pick up from/drop off at the airport through Benedetta. Great place to stay when in Rome!

Great location

We had a great time at this flat in Rome. The location was absolutely perfect, as we easily walked to many restaurants and attractions. The garden terrace was wonderful and it was fantastic having a washing machine to catch up on laundry from our trip. If you want an authentic Italian city living experience, this is it.
