"Very clean and comfortable, with a nice view of the beach. Staff was very friendly. We were in an accessible room, and the shower curtain was not to the floor, so water sprayed all over the bathroom with each shower, which we had to mop up with towels. Otherwise, the room was fine."

"Overall, the six of us had an enjoyable stay!It always takes awhile to find your way around a new place. Our initial impression was influenced by the area rug in the entry living room. It's old, dated, and badly stained. If that were removed, ideally replaced, it would make a big difference, and I would give it 5 stars for cleanliness. The kitchen was fairly well supplied, but could use more flatware. With a larger group, you run out quickly. The tap water is not good, and a Britta or Pur filter would be a great addition. We never figured out the instant hot water tap. Otherwise, it's nicely laid out.The three queen beds are comfortable. We appreciated plug in night lights, since a couple of the bed frames have a wood corner posts that stick out, and can catch a knee or toe (one room did not have a night light and resulted in a hard whack). Some reviews mentioned the sunroom not having window coverings, but shades have been added and it makes a nice bedroom, although that mattress wasn't quite as comfy. You do walk thru a master bedroom and a large open walk through closet to use the bathroom, but it's a straight shot, on thick soft carpeting, and not close to the other bed.We didn't bring pets this time, but the large fenced yard would be good for dogs. One of our group tried the hot tub and couldn't get the temp to go up above warm, so we decided not. The bathrooms are on the small side. The showers had good fixtures, strong shower heads."

"The staff was wonderful. There was a mixup at my end about my reservation date and I arrived a day later than scheduled. They found me a room anyhow! And it was superb."

"The space was the perfect respite. Miles of beach to explore. We saw seals and watched the pelicans. And it's just a short drive to the Boy Scout Trail to experience the awe and wonder of The Redwood National forest. Highly recommend and look forward to going back."

"We loved our stay at The River House. The property is in a safe area of Crescent city, conveniently located between the beach and the Jedediah Redwoods. Our vacation didn’t go according to plan, with a visit to the ER 12 hours after arriving, but having a cozy home for my husband to recover in and keep my kids busy during the recovery helped save our vacation. The house is indeed fully stocked, so that was very appreciated. Small things you never pack or anticipate needing (like a heating pad) were there. There’s even a crock pot I wish I had found earlier. My kids loved searching for banana slugs, frogs in the river, making s’mores and playing lots of ping pong. What a great house. We will be back (hopefully without kidney stones)."
