The most outstanding feature of this property is the mind blowing mountain backdrop! The landscaping and nature filled environment are breathtakingly beautiful! The staff are friendly and welcoming, the infinity pool is gorgeous and large, The bungalows were rustic and spacious. Would definitely return in the future!

such a beautiful spot. It does not come cheap, but it has made our stay in Sapa. Amazing location, beautiful nature, sweet people. One feels also close to the community, and it´s the perfect place to relax when travelling through Vietnam. The food was also very good. I have been reading old reviews, and from what I can see is that they listened and improved what they had to get better.

Beautiful setting, amazing restaurant, staff friendly but had higher expectations to their service. Go for the view and the infinity pool, but just for one overnight. Not much to do if you’ve already been to sapa and seen the rice fields there.

Stunning Scenery
The setting of the hotel is amongst the best I have ever experienced. Every direction seemingly has a different and stunning view. The infinity pool is spectacular. The food was good but the menu is definitely limited with little variety. We stayed their for 4 nights; probably 2 nights too many. Nice touch trying to be environmentally friendly however we were there for 4 nights and our garbage cans were not collected once. I get trying to limit the waste but waste can accumulate over four days. We would go back again just for the beautiful and unique location.

The service in this hotel is poor and inadequate
We were very disappointed with our stay here. For £290 a night we expected superior levels of service. However, on numerous occasions the service at Topas as the worst we have experienced and occurred too frequently for it to be a one off. As such, we cannot recommend staying here. Here is some more information: - not enough sun loungers for guests. We had to wait 30 mins in the boiling heat before one became free. Staff were unhelpful and unfriendly - they didn’t offer to help or solve the problem. We were not the only ones to experience this - we complained to the hotel reception after this experience. Not only did they not help or resolve, but they didn’t follow up with us afterwards. It was simply never discussed by them. We felt like we weren’t listened to, so we brought this up with the manager. He was unapologetic and dismissive - saying the hotel was full. - the pool area is small and unfortunately there were lots of loud children playing, which made for an atmosphere which wasn’t relaxing - the shuttle bus service is rigid and if you miss it the pay for a taxi at your own expense. The hotel should be more accommodating to guests and not leave them on their own to book a taxi - the Sa Pa office (where you meet to get the shuttle bus) is dirty, dingy and unclean. This is poor for a premium resort - there is a set menu option available after 3pm. As we arrived at 3.30pm we missed this. The hotel knew when we were arriving. Why did they not contact us and ask?

Thanks for your review. As you know, we are an ecolodge, so we only provide toothpaste, toothbrush, comb upon request to reduce wastes. You can call our reception if you don't bring your personal bathroom amenities. Thank you

This hotel was amazing! First, it's exactly as it describes on the website - no internet/tv in the rooms and it's a very quiet resort. With that, it was so relaxing with beautiful views of the mountains. The rooms are very clean with a nice shower and balcony to relax on. The infinity pool lives up to the expectation - it was beautiful! Service was great. As I read in other reviews, some staff don't speak the best English but always were willing to find someone that does. We rarely had communication issues, and they did everything they could to accommodate us. The food was good - menu is smaller but we were very satisfied with the quality. Food pricing is higher than other areas of Vietnam, but that is expected in a remote resort. We thought pricing was very reasonable - definitely cheaper than other resorts. Breakfast was included and made to order - it was delicious as well. You will read about the ladies that wait outside of the resort to sell you things, so when you go to hike, be ready for them. I will say, when we wanted to go for a quiet hike, they would not leave us alone and followed us for a solid 5 minutes down the road. I've read they will follow you the entire hike, but we found if you don't respond at all, they will eventually leave you alone. They'll always ask where you are from, etc- just don't answer and keep walking. We had luck with that. Overall - very highly recommended this Resort!

Resort with breathtaking view of surrounding mount
The most striking aspect of this resort is its breathtaking view of majestic Hoang Lien mountain range and famed rice terraces. Even though its location quite far from Sapa town, roughly 30km with winding mountain road that has been under repair so expect bumpy road, traffic jam due to construction, the resort is still well worth it! Located on top of a hill with rows of bungalows built from stone and local material that offer unobstructed view of the mountain. It's very relaxing, calming, and serene to sit on the balcony of those bungalows watching the spectacular sunrise or set ! The bungalow itself was a bit small but cozy and clean. There was no wifi or tv in the room, just you and the beautiful nature surrounded! Staffs were very friendly and genuinely helpful. Even though the choices for dinner menu were kind of limited but the foods were very delicious. The choices of wines offered were exceptionally good and reasonably priced!

View vs service
I had my 3 day 2 night stay at Topas ecolodge, took the overnight train as we felt that this way we have more time in Sapa as if you take the transport arrange by Topas you will reach the resort in the noon. Overnight train stops at Lao Cai which require you to arrange to take a 1 hour bus/ private car to Sapa and another 1 hour ride to Topas from their office in Sapa. Upon arriving I was greeted by the front house reception but I felt that the first impression, the staff could have smile more. The staff in Topas can speak english but not that well, especially the lady handling the travel desk. After check-in i thought that maybe one staff would escort us to our room but it did not happen, I booked the suite room but didn't feel like there was any friendly or special treatment. We came all the way to Hanoi because we wanted to visit this Topas ecolodge so we were really looking forward to it but in the end the rest of the hotel we stay in Hanoi was way better then Topas. If I were to compare Topas to Gangtey Lodge in Bhutan the treatment was so different even though it's also mountain view resort. Their staff will stand at the door and greet us, after settling down at their lobby they give us a quick 10 mins massage and serve us nice lemongrass tea and sing us their local songs before escorting us to our room and introduce the room to us. The food in Topas was below average in my opinion especially the breakfast. The staff in the restaurant wasn't as friendly too.

One of a kind mountain resort! Not to be missed!
The view and the infinity is enough reason for you to come here! I have been to many St. Regis and Ritz Carlton and Pan Pacific resorts around the world and this place far outshine it! The breakfast buffet was outstanding! Nothing can beat the unique views. At first, looking at the pictures I thought the amenities would be too rustic for my taste yet when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised! It was nothing of the sort! Truly luxurious chalet type accommodations. You must try it to understand it! You won’t regret!

There are so many mosquitoes and the price you paid for the room, the hotel should at least provide mosquitoes repellent inside the rooms. You can’t even enjoy the porch outside the room because there are no mosquito repellent. They also should have a golf cart to take you to the room too, the walk is a far walk. The price you paid for the room they should have WiFi for the rooms and also the rooms should have a phone where you could call the front desk

Best Hotel Ever
The hotel is in an increadible location and the views are amazing. The staff are helpful and the rooms were exceptional for the three star rating the lodge holds. The swimming pool is very impressive and provides a great photo opportunity. However, the drive from Sapa town to the lodge, which is described as adventurous on the website, is actually really rough and could easily induce travel sickness particularly in children (which we saw first hand). This could be helped by the drivers slowing down a bit. We had a massage during our stay which did not feel professional or even safe. I ended up with bruising along the length of my back and my partner lost feeling in an arm for some time during the massage. We understand the hotel only employs people from the surrounding villages which is very commendable but some additional training may be required.

Lovely views, great retreat
Our trip to find the lodge from the airport was terrible! But staff were helpful to aid us in keeping our luggage til we could make the next shuttle. They also kept to their word in all aspects and facilitated us to get to our early morning bus ride back to Hanoi with special early breakfasts as well. Excellent customer service! Despite some inconveniences and misunderstandings due to hotel staff not yet available when we had to leavs the premises. Could do with better organisational skills but if you have a straightforward plan for coming and going, should be absolutely wonderful! Amazing views by the poolside even though it was cloudy due to winter. Almost magical!

A taste of paradise
What a treat to stay in such a beautiful spot in Vietnam. Also nice to have a change of menu after already being in Vietnam for a few days. Delicious French cuisine. The BEST breakfast buffet at a hotel ever! Scenery was breathtaking from every angle. I didn’t give 5 for room cleanliness only because of mold in bathroom walls and shower curtain. But that didn’t let us down. The room itself was comfy and spotless. We will for sure come back to Topas! Only we will stay much longer next time.

A place of luxury in sapa
We loved the place. The food was excellent. The pool is incredible. The bungalows have magnificent views. There are a few downsides though. First, the price is higher, which is normal, but it's really expensive compared to everything in sapa. Plus if you book a tour it cost about 2-3x what you would pay in the village. Plus there were some bugs in the room. Overall we loved the place and we would go again.

Overall is Good! but some surprises
Overall is good. Checking in process, staff, services, all are up to standard. Dinner is required pre-booking and pre-order before 4PM each day. This surprised me when we were ready in restaurant as scheduled but the meals were served to us very delay, half an hour, disappointed. One of the dish I ordered was grilled pork, and it was overcooked, too burnt. The rest of my orders are ok, taste was good. On leaving the hotel, we booked Shuttle bus service at noon. It turned up that staff had called the taxi for us as group of 4 people combined with other guests (couple). Altogether 6 people on taxi left from hotel to the city. With the road condition, I felt not comfortable on taxi, but no chances to deny when all plan is already set in advance.

sorry to be so honest.
It wasn't worthy. I couldn't sleep at all in Topas because of many huge cockroaches. So big, fast and scary. I killed 6 during the night, and missed 2. I was using mosquito net, but one of them found one hole and came in. Yes, they were on my bed!!! I still can't believe that. They never get scared of me. So I left lights on all night, but they don't even care of the lights. It wouldn't be surprised because it's bungalow? I stayed 10 days in Sapa and 2 nights at another bungalow hotel before Topas. I could see small flies there, but never cockroaches. I paid 120 USD per night, it was the most expensive hotel in Sapa. But they don't offer any toothbrush&paste, razor, shower cap, cotton bud..anything. there was nothing. It was ok, i had mine! But I paid 120 dollars per night! Wasn't it luxury hotel? Also my friend got hurt during cycling, he was bleeding. And the receptionist said, "We don't have medicine". She looked like she's never got request for medicine-kit in Topas until we asked. Is it possible that they don't even have med-kit at 120 USD per night luxury hotel?? If there was pharmacy around, i'd have understood. Topas is 16km from city, there is nothing around. I stayed 10 days in Sapa, so I did most of activities before staying at Topas. (Cat cat, Lao chai Trekking, Ta van homestay, Fanxifang, Waterfalls and temples) So I was ok. But if you come to Sapa for 3-4days, its too far from everywhere to visit. It takes 45min from Topas to Sapa city.

Memorable views, forgettable food...
Delightful: each cottage has fantastic views and it's own little balcony, great to lounge in the room or the entrance area. Utterly peaceful, great service and totally chilled out. Forgettable: Eggs and such for breakfast, which is a good solid start to the day but then the cuisine starts going downhill from there...wine is ridiculously expensive and dinner is a set menu at US$20.00, so while you get 4-5 dishes they are mostly a tasteless sloppy fusion of Vietnamese and western - state tofu, re-fried vegetables, wierd tomato sauces etc achieving little other than filling your stomach. So bring some cheese, crackers and a couple of bottles of nice wine! Horrible: The Dzao ladies at the entrance are extremely irritating and stalker-like... Humbling: But they are great to bring with you on a hike as they are nimble in that terrain. Seeing where they live and hiking in the paddy fields gives a good understanding of how painstaking this type of farming actually is.

Stunning setting away from Sapa town
My wife & I stayed here for two nights at the beginning of February. Although there was thick fog for many parts of the day, when the fog lifted, the view was absolutely amazing! Definitely a must do in Vietnam. The staff were very welcoming and the food was ok too. The lodge is 18km away from Sapa and sits on a lower elevation so there's lower chances of a foggy day than being in Sapa.
