"We love Villas Del Rio and have returned 8 . It’s a safe and well cared for Oasis in the middle of Escazú. Convenient to restaurants, shopping and Dental offices across the street. A great place to stay while in San Jose. They provide transportation to and from SJO and free breakfast daily. The staff are friendly and helpful and they make your stay as enjoyable as possible. "For reference we stayed in Atenas Costa Rica April 14th through April 19th. The house is gorgeous, and the view from the backyard is stunning. On two separate occasions toucans came to the tree in the backyard to feed on the berries. We also had 6 head of cows/ bulls wander up one morning while we enjoyed coffee on the back porch. The late afternoons did get warm, but we just cooled off in the pool. We did not see any rain while we were there. The nights do cool down, but was still a little...

"For our second week in Costa Rica, we chose this home in Atenas. The photos do not do it justice- it is such a wonderful and relaxing retreat. The private pool and outdoor shower allowed a connection no nature. Hammock and hanging chairs, lush landscaping, toucans…. Just too much to mention. We will return to this special place. Lizz did massages on the breezeway our last day to the sound of rain and the birds. Communication was excellent."

"This hotel seemed to be mostly well kept. They did not have AC which was a bit of a downside. The staff at the desk does not often speak English, although the manager/owner does, so be prepared to use your Spanish! Getting Uber is convenient and easy to do from the hotel. I had a shuttle that left to my next destination at 2:00pm on check out day, but the hotel did not allow for late checkouts. They were willing to keep my luggage though while I waited. They allowed me to wait at the property....
