Randor Residence Kyoto Nijo Castle

8/10 Good

"This hotel feels like a youth hostel with its lack of personnel or lobby / space to hang out, but our room had enough space for a family of four, which even included two toilets, a table and sofa, although only two dining chairs. Advertised as "eco-friendly" for its lack of routine cleaning was a bit odd, as we had to take out our own rubbish, but overall, it was fine for our needs, which was to explore Kyoto. We liked the walking distance to local cafes, a grocery store, and to Nijo-jo Castle."

Togetsutei

10/10 Excellent

"Honestly, there are not enough stars for this hotel. The staff is very friendly and kind, the rooms were clean with such an amazing view of the river, and the vibe was so soothing it was honestly hard to leave! The employees made us feel welcomed and spoke English well. The even let us barrow an umbrella when we went out while there was light rain. The best part was after a long day of walking, we enjoyed the nice private tub in our suite. So nice, me and my fiance used it everytime we came back from a walk lol If I could give it a score out of 10, id give it a 12/10."

KAYA Kyoto Nijo Castle

8/10 Good

"We enjoyed our stay at this hotel - it was very authentic Japanese style of beds on the floor which we found surprisingly comfortable. The only glitch, which I feel compelled to mention, is the 'smoking' area that is right at the entrance by the main door of the hotel. As soon as you enter the small corridor to walk towards Reception, the smell hits you! Other than that, the hotel was good, rooms were spacious and there were nice amenities supplied. Staff only had limited English, so communication was a little challenging. The hotel is not very centrally located so an Uber is needed to get into Kyoto - otherwise a short walk to the main street and catch one of many buses, at a fraction of the cost of an Uber. We would stay there again."
