The Good:
The location is relatively close to just about anywhere in Savannah. The rental company sent multiple emails about expectations and policies regarding my stay. I felt comfortable with the contactless check-in process. The unit was thoroughly cleaned prior to our stay, which was a relief since we are still in a pandemic. The unit was budget-friendly compared to the hotel chain I usually book with.
The Bad:
A Change of Place is not a quiet place. Apparently, this location was completely renovated several years ago. Unfortunately, the floors separating the main level unit from the garden level unit were not insulated adequately. Our neighbors woke us up at 1:00am on our first night and that was AFTER Lydia reached out to them earlier that evening when we first complained about the noise levels. The next group of renters that arrived the following day were also loud at various times. They were yelling across the room to one another and intentionally stomping. I felt like we were in the Geico clogging commercial. I didn't bother to complain again because it hadn't really helped the last time. Not because Southern Belle wouldn't have reached out to them, but simply because people these days are just inconsiderate of others. The bedroom window is a single pane of glass and is located next to a busy street that is also used frequently by the nearby fire station.
The power went out on our first night. I let Georgia know the following day that the cable was not working. She said she would see about getting it cut back on, but it still wasn't on when we checked out 3 days later. It wasn't the end of the world, but it rained a lot during our stay so we spent more time in the rental and it would've been nice to be able to watch tv.
Parking can be a pain. You are designated one parking space on a patch of dirt. I tracked dirt and mud in my car and in the kitchen. Also, I had to squeeze my compact car between the other renter's SUV and property trash bins. I was constantly afraid I was going to hit one or the other every time I went somewhere.
None of these complaints are Southern Belle's fault, but things did occur during my stay that lessened my experience. While I would consider using Southern Belle again, I would not stay at this particular location unless the owner's of the property paved/gravelled the parking area and worked on dampening noise levels.
