Beautiful place to stay with luxurious rooms and a great location. Didn't realise though that there was no breakfast on offer - was a bit inconvenient. But otherwise a great place to stay.

Good for smokers

Booked 3 nights, managed one night because we had travelled a long way with the kids and couldnt find anywhere else at short notice. Left first thing because of the smell of smoke in the room, genuinely unbearable, paint peeling from the ceiling over the kids bed. Really should've taken pictures. Hostess seemed ok on arrival, admitted herself the room stunk of smoke. Thought they may offer some kind of refund for rhe remaining few days but got told there was no chance, so we just took the hit and found somewhere else, glad we did. Location is good though if you want access to them seafront.

The shower did not work and we stayed for 2 nights and the internet did not work. The rooms are pricey considering we could not wash or use the internet. We were also stuck in a room where we could hear boiler dripping throughout the night.

Fantastic Stay

Just had a wonderful stay at the Barrington Guest House. The room was very clean and tidy, bed comfy. The Guest house is in a great location, just 1 street back from the sea front. The host was great and very helpful. We would definitely stay again.

Would not recommend

Plus: Bed comfortable and sheets warm and clean Location central Small fridge in room Shower warm Tea and coffee in room Quiet except for seagulls which can’t be helped at the seaside Negative: Checkin not great, after a 4.5hr journey no one there to greet us, we were told to wait 45 mins and get chips across the road but it was torrential rain so had to just sit in car and wait. Didn’t stop on way for a toilet break as we were told before we left that our room was ready and to get there as soon as we possibly could so felt pressurised to get there. No hairdryer. No mirror near a socket to dry your hair anyway. Furniture wrapped in plastic. Kettle too big to fill in tiny sink. Water in room was tap water not sealed bottled water. No wardrobe you need to hang clothes on wall. Place smells of dog so air fresheners plugged in everywhere. Can barely get round end of bed to get to toilet as room so small. We booked a classic double room and were given a ‘cosy double’. No space. ‘Garden’ view out window hideous, broken rubble and old toilet and rubbish. Flushing toilet wakes the entire house as it rumbles loudly. Towels not changed just hung up. Not allowed food in room, only found this out after payment taken and they sent terms and conditions. My husband has had cancer and doesn’t eat so I live on takeaway when away as he won’t go to a restaurant but couldnt have any here. No breakfast offered. Not sure where they got all the good reviews from? Won’t be back.

Fabulous stay at the Barrington. Room was very clean and warm, bed was really comfy. Steve was a wonderful host and gave us a lovely warm welcome. Breakfast very nice too, we will no doubt be back!
