"Having stayed at the Red Lion over forty times since 1979, when we were pleasantly snowed in and obliged to spend an extra night whilst the roads were plowed, I have watched the inn evolve. The beds were as comfy as always, the pool a delight under the moon, still the delicious Bloody Marys to sip in a rocking chair on the wide, wooden porch, an idyllic perch to chat and watch the town’s visitors to-ing and fro-ing and the small - and not so small-ones riding the lions that frame the entrance. Long carpeted, bumpy hallways framed with an eclectic array of deeds, art, china-stuffed cupboards and dresses still charm and enlighten the journey to one’s room. Contemporary sophistication and New England history blend. Over doors, painted horizontal windows that once served to cool a room, and pre electrified gas switches that controlled the lights allow the guest to transcend time. The food is delicious, as always, the menus having broaden to reflect contemporary tastes. Love the small bar and was pleased to see there was sometimes entertainment in The Lion’s Den. The upstairs gift shop carries an imaginative collection of Red Lion and New England sundries, whilst another shop holds varied treasures, including clothing. Of note, I noticed that that the porch rattan needed repair, the dining area has shrunk to accommodate more seating and the porch table overflowed with empty glasses. Still the rocking steed sits proudly in the back room!"

"The property and grounds are beautiful and perfectly appointed. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The room was very comfortable. The gym is small but was very functional for our purposes and we appreciated having it available. The pool is beautiful but sadly we were unable to use it as it was closed the afternoon we came back early to swim and enjoy the sun. Breakfast was outstanding all 3 days and we appreciated having an access to machine for espresso and cappuccino. Would definitely stay here again."

"My stay at Diane’s bed and breakfast was absolutely wonderful. Diane herself is incredibly warm, welcoming, and genuinely informative — she made the entire experience feel personal and cared for. The room was quaint, cozy, and charming in that classic New England way, with comfortable beds, plenty of towels, and a generous selection of bath amenities that made settling in effortless. Breakfast was a standout: a truly amazing cook‑to‑order meal that felt both homemade and high‑end. Every dish was fresh, delicious, and clearly prepared with pride. Parking was plentiful and convenient, making arrival and departure stress‑free. Overall, this B&B is a gem — comfortable, inviting, and thoughtfully run. I’d happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing stay."

"We have stayed here several times. It is a perfect spot for enjoying the Berkshires!! It is close to Tanglewood, all of the theaters and wonderful places to eat. The hosts are wonderful. We feel like this is our home in the Berkshires"
General Williams Estate House Lenox/Stockbridge

"The home was in a great location to explore Berkshire County. The house was spacious and great for our family reunion with each of us having our own rooms and almost all bedrooms had en suite bathrooms. The house did have its quirks, as one might expect for a very old home. But we all enjoyed its character, including the robin’s nest outside one of the windows. A few things that any renter should be aware of. You do hear traffic noise on Rte 7. It’s a trade-off for being close to everything. Bring layers in the summer! All of us were freezing in the AC and the temperature control was locked. We couldn’t make it warmer. So despite it being summer, we all had on sweaters, fleece jackets and long pants while inside. Also, be aware of that the home is only supplied with minimal towels (1 body towel, 1 hand towel and 1 face cloth) per person. There were no extras. And there are no towel bars to hang towels to dry. No bath mats to step out of showers. Only 2 dish towels in the kitchen. There were no pool towels. Also, supplies for guests are minimal. We suggest asking for the list of what is and isn’t supplied well ahead of time to be prepared. While there were closets in most bedrooms, there were no coat hangers. We had a few issues while we were there and the local handy man was responsive and friendly. We appreciated his help.We all had fun celebrating a milestone birthday and gathering as a family."

"We love the beautiful Taggart River House! This was our second stay--eight of us really enjoyed our return visit to Stockbridge, Tanglewood and the Berkshires. The location is superb--walking distance to downtown Stockbridge can never be overrated. Short drives to everything else make this property ideal. Super responsive and helpful hosts! Very clean, well-appointed rooms and facilities, more than ample parking and easy-to-follow house rules and recommendations. Pictures are accurate. You will love it!"
Historic Stockbridge Villa on 25 acres

"Fabulous hosts - Very informative, responsive, and accurate. House is large and typical-old-family-house quirky. The furnishings include lots of very thoughtful items such as games, thousands of books, well equiped kitchen, AC and abundant fans, etc, We found it served our multi-generational family clan wonderfully. The spaces worked with the older more impaired, as well as our youngest - 16 months. There is plenty of room to spread out and equally great spaces to gather. The area is full of wonderful historic and artistic sites, cultural offerings and nice food options. House is perhaps not for guests seeking 'glam', but perfect for a relaxing large gathering. A Plus all around. Delighted with our visit and looking forward to a return. Kudos to our hosts."
