Ideal family cabin experience

We have rented many homes and this was top notch in cleanliness and supplies/furnishings. The location was peaceful and our little swimming cove and dock were excellent. Beware, the tradeoff for the forest setting is that it takes a long drive to get groceries and there are no restaurants around, so be prepared to cook! We loved this place and would come back.

We had a wonderfully relaxing week in this well-appointed cottage. It’s a perfect family getaway on a quiet inlet. Several days we had the entire inlet to ourselves before neighbors began arrival on TH for the weekend. Located in a very rural area, plan to bring all the food and resources you’ll need for the week! We would definitely book again, but would consider renting a pontoon for the entire week.

Ma Cook is a home away from home

This place is big, clean and has nice deepwater lake access. The many decks and lower level with a pool table are very nice and the beds are very comfortable. A great base from which to explore Norris Lake. It’s close to Beach Island and Cedar Grove Marinas and Bubbas Brews for great food and music.

Perfect spot for a nice get away!

My family had a really nice time here. Our first time to the lake in many years. The walk down to the boat was easy and we really like this area of the lake. The house was very comfortable and well equipped for what we needed. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful view!

Beautiful home with an even more beautiful view of the lake! It was great just sitting on the deck watching the boaters go by. Whether sitting in the hot tub or on the top deck with a cocktail. Amazing! The house was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The pool table was an added bonus. We had nightly competitions between our family members. Would definitely stay again!

Exactly what we were looking for!

The property was perfect for a long weekend with my siblings. The house was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Communication with the property manager was quick and easy when I ran into a problem with the WiFi. You cannot beat the view. Between the comfy living room, pool table, hot tub, fire ring, and fishing, there was something for everyone! We enjoyed our stay immensely.

Peaceful family retreat

The cabin was in excellent condition and had everything we needed. The location on the lake was perfect in terms of having a serene, forest retreat feeling. The kids adults enjoyed swimming in our little cove, the water was awesome. We would very likely return to this property! A few things to understand before planning your family vacation here: 1. the location is on a very narrow, slow-going twisty road and there are not really restaurants around even after you get to the main road. Grocery markets are not a quick/easy run, so plan ahead for buying and cooking. 2. Lots of stairs are expected, but some here are harder than regular. The stairs to lower level are steeper than typical house stairs, the front porch steps are skinny, and the last section of the path to the dock is a dirt path with several roots and loose soil. It’s all beautiful and manageable but quite difficult/risky for some people. People who normally handle regular stairs fine struggled with spots here. 3. Bring a fan, it’ll make using the outside deck more of an option, and help move air around inside too. Use of the oven or clothes dryer heated up the inside quickly and one ceiling fan didn’t work. Again - we loved this place and will consider returning. Just a few things we wish we had expected to make it more comfortable and easy.

Perfect size for our extended family! Kids could hang out in the basement, which has its own walkout to the hot tub. Watch the virtual tour. It’s just as pictured with some updates. The dock size worked for the pontoon boat we rented. This part of the lake is nestled away so if you plan to hike, bike, go out to eat, and shop, this is not an ideal location. It was great for us because our young adult children wanted to swim, fish and tube all day. And we cooked all week; kitchen had everything. Full-sized grocery store is 35 min away. There is no flat part to the yard so we didn’t use our outdoor games. Instead, we enjoyed the private dock, hot tub & pool table. It is a full 15 min just to get out of the wooded, hilly “neighborhood” of lake homes to a gas station, which has hot pizza and many last minute items if you are cooking and forgot something. There are several houses and docks around this house but it still felt private. It is off the main straightaway of this part of the lake so the waters are calm for swimming while still being able to watch boats and skiers go by. Just beautiful. For early August we were surprised how breezy and comfortable it was. Only really felt hot in the sun. Partially sun/partially shaded deck uphill from the dock was great place to read and watch kids swim. We did not get to use our mountain bikes as the only bike trails we could locate were further than we wanted to haul the bikes on the back of our SUV. Had a great time! Would rent again.

Perfect Lake Home

Sisters visit Tennessee from Virginia

We (3) are retired for several years. Our nephew lives in Oakridge and thanks to VRBO/Vacasa we found the ideal lake home for a 3 day relaxing visit. I’m no stranger to VRBO, have used them for many years, many states. I’ve always been very pleased with few exceptions. The MaCook home was nearly perfect!! High on our list is comfort of beds and good sheets, all were excellent! The furnishings were all in great condition and comfortable. Lots of necessities were provided, toiletries, well stocked kitchen for cooking, firewood, laundry essentials, the list is endless! The three of us and our 2 guest from Tennessee had zero complaints!! There’s usually minor issues or taste differences, not in this case. Very well kept property, many updates and just simply beautiful and very enjoyable! I would recommend highly to anyone interested in the area. We mainly relaxed and enjoyed the scenery so we aren’t rating the swimming, boating, fishing etc. Loved it and will definitely check it out when we are planning to be in Tennessee.😊

This is by far my favorite vacay yet. We will definitely be back. I definitely over packed. Not knowing what exactly I would need. But there's plenty of kitchen stuff. Dishes. Cookware. There were plenty of towels and beach towels. The view is amazing. The house is amazing. I do need to add that there no jetted tub. It has been updateupgraded to a beautiful walk-in shower. I just loved this place so much. beautiful wal Silverware.

Ma Cook Lodge

Nicely updated lakefront house. Ma Cook Lodge provided a peaceful retreat for our two families of four. When we arrived, the house was very clean and welcome items had been provided (hand soaps, dish soaps, mini shampoos/conditioners). We rented a boat from a nearby marina and the Ma Cook dock was in good condition to store the pontoon boat at night. There are two large back decks (lower and upper) with a large dinner table, lounging chairs, working grill and hot tub.

Good, very remote location with plenty of beds and places to hang out. Access to water is nice and you can swim in the cove. Hot tub is nice and functional. Bring groceries because everywhere you might need to go is a 30 minute drive at minimum.

Peaceful Relaxing

This was the perfect get away for our family. Loved every moment spent in this beautiful, clean, peaceful Home. Fully stocked with everything we needed. Excellent views, loved the sunrise over the mountains the reflections shinning on the water with the different colors were calming. The pier was nice to fish off of, we all enjoyed fishing and took out some time grilling out on the balcony/patio. Very nice setup for outdoor enjoyment. Beds were comfortable, Plenty of privacy inside this home. Tons of family games if needed. Pool table was extra nice. Hot Tube was relaxing and private. Little ways to get into off the main road however worth it. Will be back. Thanks for sharing
