"I had a room with paper-thin walls. I could hear my next-door room neighbors late into the evening...they were just having a normal decibel conversation but the walls were so thin between us that it was all disruptive to falling asleep. I found the main manager when I checked in a bit off-putting. Her Fri comment that "I'm off after today and I need it" (in so many words), typified her manner throughout all interactions. Breakfast was very good, especially my Sat morning breakfast made by a young chef and his solo female companion, the waitress. Lovely people 'covering the fort' in the most gracious manner."
Ambleside Salutation Hotel & Spa

"A wonderful stay yet again at the salutation hotel. The location of the hotel makes it an ideal stay to visit Ambleside. Perfect to park the car when you arrive and no need to use it again for your stay. Having a spa within the hotel is a bonus and the standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel is exceptional. We stayed in a room at the front of the hotel , which yes there is a little street noise , but nothing you wouldn’t expect staying in a town centre , and certainly didn’t keep you awake at night - in fact it was probably one of the highlights of our room - people watching below and the beautiful fells in the distance. Breakfast is a real treat , excellent selection of hot and cold food and drinks , there is everything you could possibly want for breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff - everyone greats you with a smile and are most helpful. Having visited the Lake District from childhood staying at campsites, lodges, cottages and b&b’s , I can honestly say this is my favourite place to stay. Thank you to the team at The Salutation Hotel , hopefully we will return soon."

"Mountain View from room, room was tidy and ideal. However location is on a very narrow country road. The breakfast wasn’t warm the following morning, took too many orders at once and only one staff member so delays were experienced."

Beech Cottage (Hot Tub) - Skelwith Bridge

"Our family could not grasp the picturesque little cottage that we were going to stay in for three nights! They were over the moon!Hosts were so helpful and responsive!A few things to know:The road leading to the cottage is soooo narrow and windy. Be prepared to drive this 2 mile route over and over again. Also I just feel like for the amount each night costs at this cottage that a least a few more amenities should be included. Would wants to go out and buy toilet paper on their vacation after paying 400-500/night? Whether staying one night or six you still only get one half roll of toilet paper for your whole stay. I feel like this is a super inexpensive upgrade to at least give one spare roll per bathroom and the same for paper towels. Other than these minor inconveniences we highly recommend this cottage for a perfect Lake District stay."
