Nice apartment
We had a short stay at this apartment but enjoyed the time we were there. The apartment was very clean however it could use a little refreshing. What concerned us the most was the driveway which was steep. Plus, parking at the bottom of the driveway made loading and unloading difficult. I would be afraid to walk on the driveway on a rainy day. The kitchen was stocked nicely with dishes and spices if cooking is in your plans. The beach is only a couple of blocks away which is great for those vacation plans that include the beach. The “rules” of the apartment were appropriate but the multiple signs in the apartment were distracting to the decor. All in all, this is a nice apartment and anyone who rents it should be pleased.

We do have a few signs, but some are basic information required by the county and some are helpful suggestions to guests.

Great Beach Access

Wonderful
The property was in a great location for us because we enjoyed our frequent walks on the beach, drives to local state parks, and visits to the historic city. The unit had most everything we needed for a month long stay and the bed was very comfortable. The private deck space was nice too.

Lovely apartment
The apartment was so cute, beautifully decorated, and well-stocked. The bed was especially comfortable. We weren't thrilled with the location, but that's just our personal opinion. We would have preferred being a little closer to restaurants, other activities, and Old St Augustine. The nearby beach was beautiful, but the rainy weather kept us inside a lot. Owners were very helpful and friendly.

Wonderful place to stay!
Met expectations. Thoroughly enjoyed the property, it was very clean. Plenty of room for my spouse and me. The location was good and it didn’t take long to get to the restaurants 5 minutes or downtown 10 minutes. Walking to the beach was pretty good. The public access was down a sandy path was a little difficult. The pool was beautiful. I mentioned that the water was freezing. They said it was 82 degrees and they had just went swimming. So I got my confidence up and put my foot in. This time I was going in and see if I could get used to the temperature of the water. And yes, it didn’t take long to get used to the water and the temperature was fine. It’s just a little chilly when you first get in. Be careful with the steep driveway. So remember if you have a bum knee you will need to drive up the hill and get out then the driver will park at the bottom. Owner’s mention it the information on line that they can help. My husband and me are so thankful to the owners. Can’t say enough about them. Our car engine blew and had to junket and then find another car to buy. David helped talking it over and finding the help we needed. Perfect Place to stay!!

A Hidden Gem for Two in St. Augustine!
Great first trip to explore St. Augustine! David & Patti’s little place was a perfect fit for my wife and I. Clean, organized, quiet and private with all the essentials. Walk to the beach; close to grocery store, restaurants, and St. Augustine. Daytime on the beach then relax in the pool in the evening before heading out for great eats like Sunset Grill, Caps on the Water or the Oasis. St. Augustine Old Town Trolly and Tiki Sunset Cruise was a great way the learn about the town. David, Patti & Cookie were perfect hosts and we can’t wait for a return visit. AAA+++!

Leisurely Stay at Butler Beach
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time at this comfortable 1st floor, private, beach home with a 5 minute easy walk to the beach, and short 20 min drive to St. Augustine. David was easy to communicate with and responsive to all our questions. The 1st floor condo was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. You will find 2 beach chairs, coolers, and beach toys in the closet. The king bed was very comfortable, and was on the firm side of density. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Pleasant stay at Pelican's Beach Retreat
Wife and I stayed all of March 2023. Pelican's Beach Retreat was wonderful. Actually better than we anticipated. Accommodations were clean, comfortable and quiet. Kitchen is nicely equipped. Also has a full size washer and dryer. Bed was quite comfortable. The deck is nice, I enjoyed the late afternoon sun there. Short walk to the beach, maybe 4 minutes. If the beach is too windy, the pool is a nice alternative. Lots of nice extras; beach chairs, cooler, umbrella, towels, etc. Like to read? There are a couple hundred books. The neighborhood and beach are very safe. The owners were pleasant and professional they manage many vacation rentals in the area.

Amazing Butler Beach Vacation!!!
David and Patti's place is lovely and is in a perfect location and we had a wonderful time there. It's quiet and peaceful while also being minutes from so many beautiful beaches, restaurants and area attractions. We enjoyed swimming in the pool which was beautiful and pristinely clean. We walked to the beach and really enjoyed our time there. The sea air was incredible!! We also visited the Classic Car Museum, went on the scenic boat cruise of St. Augustine (saw some dolphins), took in a Willie Nelson concert at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre , took the Ferry to Fort Matanzas and also walked down St. George street and checked out many shops and restaurants. This is our first time at a rental where we didn't have to buy something (cheese grater, Veggie peeler, etc.) Everything we needed was there. There is also a Dollar General store about a block away. It is a great place to get drinks, snacks, condiments , etc. The beds and the furniture were very comfy. The AC kept us cool even on the 90+ degree F nights . There is lots of hot water for your shower. The driveway is a bit steep (as noted in the listing) which I was concerned about as my husband and I each have one crappy knee, but we had no problem at all with the hill. We met David and Patti on the driveway and they are very kind, friendly people and were perfect hosts. On our way home now and already dreaming about going back next winter!! Thank you David and Patti!!

Peaceful and convenient
We loved this property. It was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the kitchen was the best equipped kitchen we have found at a vacation rental - not that we used it much! The location was perfect for us. Long walks on the beach which was a block away, and no nightlife noise. It was very convenient to St Augustine, and a number of really nice state parks. The owners were very helpful, especially when we arrived way later at night than planned due to a delayed flight. Definitely a 5 start stay!

Relaxing Thanksgiving Getaway
The apartment is handsomely furnished and decorated; the full kitchen is very well stocked with utensils and appliances. The bedroom is large and the king bed is most comfortable. The unit is nicely private, with its back patio that overlooks a thick growth of native shrubs and trees. The beach is a short and botanically interesting walk from the house. The hosts were hospitable and helpful. The property is located on Route A1A and very near Route 1, so that it's easy and quick to get anywhere wee needed to go in the St. Augustine area.

Nice place but the owners live upstairs. You can hear everything going on upstairs. It was hard to sleep in as we like to do on vacation. Our biggest issue was paying extra each time to use the hot tub! Never heard of this before!

Thank you so much for the review! We do offer one hot tub heating at no charge, and then there is a fee for further uses because the owners must turn it on/off on demand. Quick trip visiting family in Palatka.
Everything is top notch at this listing. At first I was hesitant about the apt being attached to the owners home but that concern was totally unnecessary. The washer and dryer came in handy for clean clothes to fly back after visiting the beach using a walk path. We actually saw a few Gopher Tortious's heading to their burrow or sunning. The beach is not crowded at all. Saw maybe 15 people in all of our 5 visits at different times during the stay. The hosts provided beach chairs were super handy! We made a coloda with the blender provided and headed out for the day. Instructions are concise and if any questions arose the hosts are quick to reply by text. We met David and Patti one evening by the pool and they are a pleasure to chat with. The only thing I needed that this property didn't provide was more vacay days so we could've stayed longer. ☺️. We will definitely be back. Be sure to use the binder of suggested sights and restaurants and definitely stop by Burrito Works for awesome Tacos!! Thanks again guys! Yall were the best! The apartment its self is clean, cute & well appointed. Did not enjoy the very steep driveway. Unit is in the back of the house on the basement level, therefore sitting outside was not enjoyable. It was nice having a pool to cool off in after a day on the beach. The unit did have nice beach chairs, umbrella , cooler, everything you need to have a great beach day. Although not right on the beach, the walk was fairly short. All in all we had a nice stay here!

Highly recommend this property. Literally 5 mins from the water and 3 of those are on the beach. David and Patti were awesome. My son had just graduated they allowed my sisters to visit with him and even accommodated us with limited parking. Beautiful, clean, quiet. Perfect spot for four four or less.

A Little Piece of Paradise
Location was fabulous. Beach is a 3 minute walk and that was taking our time. We could always hear the waves from the ocean on the property. Pool and hot tub were beautiful especially lit up at night. The home itself is gorgeous, greatly maintained and cared for, and decorated very nicely. Homeowners are very pleasant & kind. As we got married during our stay here, before even leaving the property my husband and I agreed we would most definitely come back over the years to celebrate our anniversary. It was a welcoming atmosphere all the way around!!!

Check-in and check-out instructions were very clear. The apartment is very clean, beautifully furnished. Comfortable mattress (and my husband is very picky about mattresses). Kids shared the pullout couch -- also no complaints. Plenty of sheets, towels, dishes and everything else you might need, including beach toys and board games. Very nice pool and hot tub. The beach is a short walk away. Other beaches, restaurants, fort Matanzas within a 10-minute drive. Downtown St Augustine is 20-30 minutes away depending on traffic. Highly recommend fort Matanzas and the Matanzas beach. Get there before 9 to pick up the free tickets.

Quiet neighborhood, peaceful beach, 10 minutes to everywhere we wanted to be!
We're a pair of boomers from North Carolina who wanted a place to stay with an adult son coming in from the Pacific Northwest. This accommodation fit the bill perfectly. The peaceful beach was two blocks away with a deep shore and beautiful soft sand. Attractive beach decor, spacious living area with a large coffee table for eating snacks or playing board games and a seperate chess table. Kitchen was stocked with everything from pots, pans, cooking utensils...even a rice cooker and a french press coffee maker! There's also a Keurig, Beach towels and coolers are available as well. Communication with our hosts was immediate by text. They live onsite but respected our privacy; we never saw them. We enjoy an active vacation with days spent at museums, shopping, or on the water. This rental made a terrific home base and a cozy place to visit at the end of the day. and rest up for the next day's adventures. We plan to stay again, and have already recommended this rental to friends.
