「An incredible location but you definitely need a car to get there. It’s high up in the hills. Narrow roads but easy to find with Google maps. Host does not speak English but daughters do. Beautiful continental breakfast with sliced meats & cheese, yogurt, cereals and muesli, coffee, tea, jams & cake. 」

「This is a gorgeous Quinta with exceptional accomodation and staff. The pool was fantastic on a very hot afternoon and evening. The small food menu was perfect to pair with the wine and port produced at Dona Matilde made more special served outside the rooms on tables over looking the Douro river as the sun set. 」

「Endroit superbe le personnel est si gentil. Nos meilleurs déjeuners et que dire de leur plateau de charcuteries et fromage à essayer assurément. Le décor a lui seul rend l’endroit exceptionnel le reste est du bonus! Les serviettes pourraient être changé pour des plus agréables, mais cela ne nous empêchera assurément pas de revenir, merci pour tout!! 」

「The Chef went above and beyond coming to our table to explain how he created his dishes. The food was excellent. The front desk manager took time to come to our car and help us figure out how to pay the parking since it was all in Portuguese. Saved us!」

「Hele mooie plek om te verblijven. Het was alleen jammer dat het leek alsof we tussen drukke periodes kwamen. De mooie tuin stond er een beetje rommelig en verlaten bij. Maar personeel was uiterst behulpzaam en vriendelijk.」

「Estadia incrível! Recepção muito atenciosa, quarto limpo e confortável, o hotel é esteticamente lindo, parece aquelas casas de filme, muito fofo! Café da manhã ótimo, lugar silencioso e super acolhedor. Parecia que tínhamos o hotel só pra gente, piscina vazia e um clima adorável. Nao tem estacionamento, mas na rua do hotel tem um supermercado onde tem convênio com o hotel e podemos colocar lá sem taxa alguma. Voltarei com certeza! 」

「Torel Quinta da Vacaria was the most beautiful and best stay in Douro Valley. The hotel was an architectural marvel, with its state of the art spa to the most spectacular views of the river. But the best part was its amazing staff and impecable service. This had been one of the best hotels we have stayed in the world and we HIGHLY recommend it.」
