Cozy cabin

Very cozy cabin with the driveway off of US 33 and 5 minutes from the entrance to Shenandoah National Park. The hot tub in the back was a bonus after hiking all day. Very peaceful sitting on the porch with a bourbon and a book at the end of the day.

A perfect getaway

We love this place. Rustic real cabin but with all the amenities. Everything was perfect. We had lunch and drinks at the lodge and the staff were attentive and so nice. We bought a few gifts and the front desk clerk was so nice and packaged our purchases up for us while we ate and delivered it to our table. This was our 2nd time staying and we will definitely be back.

Weekend getaway

This place is very cool! Definitely has a great cabin vibe, and only 5 minutes from Shenandoah entrance. Had everything we needed. I don't remember seeing a picture of the living room when booking it, so I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the cabin. Our kids loved sleeping in the raised twin beds, the outside fire pit, and playing the piano with us. Communication by guest services was timely, no issues at all.

Well worth it

We originally reanted a different cabin. However i have physical limitations that made the booking difficult. The staff worked with us to get us a different cabin and we had a wonderful 30th anniversary vacation.

Old Damn Cabin

We Had a great time celebrating my husbands Birthday. He was in heaven with the added bonus of a hot tub and he loves making a fire . The light in the stairwell appears to be out. The lower ka ch on back door is broken ! Just a side note We are in are 60s but in great shape . Older couples who might not be mobile would probably have trouble with those stairs going up to the bedroom.

Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation! We really enjoyed the cabin. It was clean, historic, and a great experience. The dog park next door was really awesome too and we especially enjoyed meeting Ashton. She is so sweet and we will be back to see her (and Jumper) and stay at a cabin on the mountain. Just a couple of suggestions for the Old Dam - it was really cold and the drafts through the front floor and windows were fierce. I wonder if when it is that cold, you just stock firewood as part of the rental. We spent a ton on firewood bc it was so cold and the fireplace and Forced heat could only do so much. I also wonder if you’d consider a wood stove instead so it heats the whole place. These are just suggestions from our perspective. We will surely be back and really enjoyed you, your restaurant and the trip. Have a wonderful, healthy, happy, and prosperous 2025!!

Little house on the Prairie, but caution.

There were several cobwebs and several rooms in several areas, and they had been there for awhile . There was also some debris in the bathroom floor. Upon leaving my boyfriend, inform me that on the first night he did find a snakeskin on the mantle when he went to start a fire. The cabin does have a lot of olld charm but under the conditions. I don't feel like I would stay there again unless they did some fixing and definitely some cleaning. And the steps were very narrow and hard to maneuver. You had to use caution when going down them because they were very small and narrow. I did book a couple's massage and the lady was fantastic. I believe her name was jessica and that was really a great service.She was very nice and very professional. Also visited the lodge and the restaurant there., and that was very nice.

Quaint Cabin.

Overall, very cute rustic cabin. It met all our needs for the short stay. Of note, the stairs to the loft are very steep so one of our dogs would not go up. Thankfully there was a sleeping accommodation on the main floor.

Outside disappointed 😞

Interior was satisfactory. Exterior not so much. Chairs on front porch covered in bird excrement (we cleaned). Picnic table filthy ( left that way).

Direct TV did not work. The incline of the steps to the bedroom was too steep for our dog, so we slept downstairs. Otherwise, the cabin was delightful.

Great value, fantastic hot tub

Overall, we loved it. I hope this review helps others discover the ODC. Pros: clean, relaxing hot tub; rustic charm; large, well-stocked kitchen; peaceful atmosphere; plenty of room to spread out; plenty of firewood and kindling to make two or three fires; convenient to the Lydia Mountain restaurant (also a good value, though the desserts are pricey); front-desk staff was helpful and friendly; shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water Cons: mattress and futon are both on the firm side, which might not be comfortable for you; there are a few low beams and anyone over six feet tall needs to watch their head; bring your own lighter for the fireplace; you have to clear your own trash and the directions to the dumpsters are not relative to the cabin itself; we couldn't walk anywhere from the cabin since the surrounding land is dense scrub; if you don't push the coffee pot up against the machine to allow coffee to filter into the pot, it overflows (please replace this!); bathroom sink's water pressure is lousy
