First, Vacasa was great to work with in booking this condo. The ladies there were great in responding to all of our questions. As for the Condo, it met all of our needs for a Church Youth Ski Trip with 9 16/17 year old boys.
The Pool and Hot were used everyday by my boys as well as the workout area in the evening.
We also, used the Grill down by the pool one evening to cook burgers. If you want to save some money and use the grill, we had no issues whatsoever cooking on it.
However, we did have one issue and this is where I have a MAJOR issue with Vacasa Management as a whole. So, our boys were using the Hot Tub one evening and 2 boys who were staying in Condo A302, YES. I do not care, I am calling you out...Stole a wallet that belonged to a young man in my group. The incident occurred around 10:00 pm on March 13 and then was brought to my attention the next morning at 6:30am. Of course the property office doesn't open until 8am so I waited until then, to see if the wallet had been turned in, which it had not. So, I then called the Steamboat Police Department and an Officer Lisa L. came out to the property to assist with the recovery.
Now, Unbeknownst to the individuals in A302. The wallet they stole had a tracking device in it...So when the young man in my group starting pinging his wallet, the knuckleheads who stole it realized they had messed up.
We could actually watch on the phone the wallet moving from the front of the condo to the back of the condo...
Now please understand, the police showed up at 8:45 am, I had shared with the Police on my initial call that we knew the wallet was still on the property because we could ping it. Condo A102, empty, Condo A202 Family with young children, So we walked up to Condo A302 and allowed Officer Lisa L to make contact while we stood down below on the second floor listening to the conversation. Now this is taking place around 9:30 am. We have pinged this wallet at least 20-25 times, AT LEAST. The front office of the Condo complex has been open now for an hour and a half. If you were in possession of a wallet that you mistakenly found at the pool the night before and it has been going off making a pinging noise. Don't you think you would maybe take it to the front office and inform them that you picked this up by mistake the night before? Nope. The mother actually came to the door and said, yeah we heard this pinging noise and I guess the boys realized they picked up the wrong towels last night coming back to the Condo. Please understand, I was on a trip acting as a Chaperone for 9 boys. But I was all I could do not to confront the father and the 2 boys who were at least 18 if not 19 years old. There was no mistake here whatsoever, these boys stole the wallet. The mother said, she found the wallet on the bathroom floor among the other blue towels from the pool, ie from the night before, Complete LIE, this was a mother covering for her son and her son's friend. So yes we recovered the wallet and all the money was still there. Officer Lisa L. from the Steamboat Police Department was great to work with and was extremely professional in how she handled the situation.
As for Vacasa and how they handled the situation, They basically did not want to be involved at all. To the extent that they were apprehensive on sharing who might be staying in complex to help officer Lisa L in her search. Front Desk, ZERO help. Didn't even offer to call the police and showed zero sign of concern whatsoever.
In closing, the condo was great, met our needs and expectations. Close proximity to the base of the mountain so you can easily walk to and from.
However, if you go to the pool or hottub don't take your wallet.
