Georgeous Inn!
A super warm welcome from the lovely Narissa ..shown to our room and it was cosy and had everything we needed..settled in then had a super supper ..really delicious fresh food..had beers in our room..conked out ..lovely sleep..went down for a beautiful breakfast and after our walk in the local beautiful countryside, we returned for dinner..Alas the kitchen had closed..we accepted our fate and were happy with a bag of Walkers!!..But then Narissa and the wonder chef André offered to open the kitchen and do us anything we wanted!…we were so made up and had another gorgeous dinner…a wonderful gesture which made our stay extra special…Just what the well-being Dr ordered!.. Georgeous! Xxx

Not bad but not great for business travel
Small single room not an issue particularly although it was tricky with a large suitcase. However there was nowhere to hang clothes - not even a coat hanger and a hook. Nothing. Bed very soft. Breakfast was pretty good. Noisy guests a problem on the second night.

Amazing staff and breakfast. We found the bed a little uncomfortable and we don't think it was a long size but this would not put us of of returning.

Efficient booking processes. Nice Staff. Good Breakfast. Bed adequate comfort, pillows flattened to almost nothing in use. No hanging hooks anywhere (apart from wardrobe) A shame, as it was a nice room with very good decor.

Will think twice...
Friendly welcome at the bar and shown to my room. At first glance, room is fine though filters were dusty, cobwebs on most walls and shower was slow to drain. Turns out road noise wasnt an issue though 3 guys in the bar shouting an swearing from 11pm to after 1am were. As they were trying to break my door down shouting and swearing at 1.15am I was very close to calling the police as they carried on despite me telling them it wasnt their room. Suffice to say I didn't get much sleep and I'll be thinking twice about coming back if lockins and late night drinking on a Thursday night is a frequent thing. No one on site to complain to at that time of the morning and morning staff not interested. Breakfast was upto standard though didnt make up for the night.

Lovely little find 😀 friendly staff, very clean. Very comfortable room with a fantastic breakfast included. Bar area very welcoming and friendly with open fire and a cosy atmosphere. Great food, and the wood fired pizza was amazing. Dog & family friendly. When in room, you didn’t notice any bar noise 😀😀

The George on the Brook
The George is a lovely friendly public house with lovely staff the chef at breakfast was really friendly and attentive and the evening food was really good. It was always very busy but cozy. The only let down was the room. We were there for 4 nights and we did not have the beds made, towels replaced or the room cleaned. Also the electrics in the room was very basic. We had the same teacups the whole time. We saw 1 lady doing the rooms but she never came into ours. This let the whole experience down. The George is very well placed to visit all the attractions of the area.

Good stay for the price.
Very comfortable bed in my single room and a very nice clean bathroom en suite, but there was no hanging space of any kind and no hangers to put anything on. Luckily I had my shirts on hangers which I was able to hang on the picture rail. Also you need to be aware that when it says Bed & Breakfast that’s only a continental breakfast. If you want a proper cooked English breakfast it costs an additional £12. Hotels.com says check in at 15.00 but in reality they don’t open until 16.00 and no one answers the phone to let you in.

Great staff very accommodating. Good room, just no bedside light. Overall though real value for money. If you are staying through hotel.com the breakfast is continental, there is an additional £13 charge for English breakfast.

As the breakfast was only partly inedible, perhaps I dodged a bullet. But I selected this accommodation as it had a restaurant and I wanted dinner bed and breakfast. When i checked in at 4pm i was told i could not be served as kitchen had shut despite the advertised hours being til 5pm. As this is a remote area i really think they should have messaged to say they would not be open or offer bar snacks for hotel guests. There was wet paint and decorators near my room thatv I was also not notified about. I was told latest checkout was 10 when it is advertised as 11.

Before our stay, we contacted the property by email to book a table in the restaurant and were informed that dinner would be served until 6pm so replied asking for the latest table booking possible but upon arrival discovered a hand written note on the door that read "No food today". When we presented to the bar to check-in, the member of staff on duty asked us to pay for our room at that point even though we had pre-paid in full on booking. We were disappointed to discover that we were not allocated the room type that we had chosen.Despite booking what was described as a superior double room with a king sized bed, there was nothing superior about the room and it had a small double bed,which was extremely uncomfortable, rather than a king size. We were surprised that there were no bed side tables and therefore no bedside lamps, one bulb was out in the main light fitting, there was no toilet roll in the bathroom and there was insufficient shampoo and shower gel for two people and no hand soap. Of greatest concern, however,was the standard of hygiene. The room was dirty with cobwebs in the corners and along the skirting boards, dust on all surfaces and the bathroom floor was sticky. This was despite the claim that enhanced cleaning procedures were being employed. The room certanly did not give the impression that any COVID infection control procedures had been implemented. Had there been any availability in local hotels, we would have gone elsewhere.

Upon arrival we were told that there was no evening food available as chef had gone sick. We were told breakfast next morning would have to be Continental between 8am & 9am, at a push 9.30. In the morning (Saturday) the room where the table, chairs and breakfast had been left out was locked. No staff on premises so none of the guests had breakfast. We arrived back at 22.45 Saturday evening. Once again no staff on premises, although the pub opening time stated open until 11pm. we found the Sunday morning breakfast had been left on a unit on the bedroom landing. This consisted of packaged croissants, containers of cereal, small individual pots of jam, a few cereal bowls, disposable cutlery, a bowl of fresh fruit, uncovered and a note stating juice and milk in fridge below. If any guest wanted to partake of this breakfast they would have had to have eaten it in their bedroom as the only available table and chairs were outside. Fire safety questionable. Only one fire exit which was the entrance door to the bedrooms upstairs. A fire in the entrance area would cut off escape from upstairs. A handwritten note on the wall instructing in the event of a fire to phone the given mobile number. Fire Brigade would need to know number and location of any guests which none of the guests would be able to supply. No housekeeping over 2 night stay. no milk for tea/coffee, no bottled water or hairdryer. Wifi signal very poor. No dry towels or tea/coffee replenishment. No staff available.

Whilst the food was very very good the service was unfortunately not so good. However as charming as the ataff were it would have benefited from one mature front of house to help guide them when it became unusually busy. They coped well in the bar but table service let them down. It needed a designated staff member to run different sections.

Lovely staff, great pizza and excellent breakfast (included), and some nice country paths to walk the dog in the morning and evening. Only thing dropping the overall score from excellent is the noise: it is a pub and it was a Saturday night, but someone deciding to empty the glass bottles into the bins approaching midnight is rather jarring.

Das Zimmer war hübsch, aber die Matratze sehr durchgelegen. Das gekochte Frühstück gab es ohne viel Auswahlmöglichkeiten. Die Handtuchheizung wurde nicht warm. Das Badezimmer war sehr kalt.

Très bel hôtel, typiquement anglais. Chambre tout confort, bonne literie, très propre, soignée et cosy. Pub, bar et restaurant, sympa et pratique. Excellent et copieux petit déjeuner anglais. Personnel sympathique et aux soins.

Needs some sensible investment to match prices
For the price we paid, the room was rather sub par to be honest. Most particularly the bed had a very cheap mattress by good hotel standards. Particularly since this was billed as a "premium" room. There was a problem with damp on the carpet in the room too. On the positive the young couple running the place were very friendly and the chef very helpful. Didn't try the food so can't comment. they just need to spend some money on the rooms to justify the prices they are charging.
