Three of us arranged a work retreat, the Woodlands was ideal in location; out of the way, spacious, and scenic. Our arrival was at night we found the property fairly easily, the incline is quite steep driving up to the property, I was glad I had a suitable vehicle. (Good to note here; if arriving after dark there is a black box about knee hight next to the gate, open that up and flip the switch, the lights will illuminate the path right up to the house).
The house is a great location up high with wonderful views, we also ventured to the local supermarket (Tescos), visited the local Co-op for essentials supplies, and the local village shop for fire wood.
I would recommend buying plenty of fire wood, this is not supplied with your stay (one fires worth, to get you started). Also the fire seems to have lost its airtightness so the fire burns very intensely but quickly, the local garage sells logs (one bag will keep for about 4-5 hours), kindelling is sold by the sack in the local village shop not far away.
My only niggle was the master bedroom shower & sink, and kitchen sink drainage was problematic, but an easy fix for the cleaning team.
We spent most of our time in the house looking out at the views, writing, brainstorming, filming (we make videos), and eating. It was a very pleasant and productive stay!
Thank you to Poppy for being so incredibly responsive throughout the booking process! Very impressive.
Best,
Matthew, Angus, and Liz
