My wife and I enjoy occasional 3-day weekends to Door County and usually try to get a rental "off the beaten path." We decided on this house because the photos indicated it would be very open with a lot of natural light, with views of the woods. We were not disappointed!
The property was clean, the house was warm even though the weekend was quite cold, and we appreciated that it is pet-friendly. We enjoyed reading and cooking together there. It is also only 15-20mn from Sturgeon Bay--far enough out we did not hear much traffic, but close enough to town.
The only frustration was on the day we arrived. We drove up the day after a major snowfall which was followed by several days of cold with subzero windchills--not uncommon in winter. The main roads including I-43 and Hwy 57 were in good condition and the county highways were passable. However, the house is at the top of a hill which was too slippery for our sedan to ascend. Fortunately, we were able to approach from the opposite direction. When we tried to park, we found the driveway/parking area had been plowed but had not been salted or was lightly salted. Our car had difficulty turning on the ice and ended up impacted into a snowbank. We were able to get it out ourselves the next morning and parked the second night in an alternate parking area that the owner recommended. The owner was very responsive when contacted and did follow up the next day.
Overall, very bright, clean, and warm rental. Thank you!
