IMPORTANT NOTE: This cabin, aptly named "Magic Cabin," is NOT related to "Mountain Magic Resort" that is located about 15 minutes away, also in Sugar Grove. This cabin does NOT have access to the resort amenities, but does have its own private petting zoo, hot tub, fireplace, grill and fire pit!

Easy access into Boone (15 mins), Valle Crucis (10 mins) and over to Banner Elk (20 mins). Skiing and Blowing Rock within 25 minutes!


$75 pet fee (typically 1 dog under 50 pounds), more than one dog or a larger dog, please inquire. Our farm animals prefer to be the largest animals on property!


The entire property is yours. Three levels with the upstairs being a private loft King bedroom. Cozy enough for a couple (half of our guests), but enough space for up to 6 guests. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, enjoy the built-in fire pit and hot tub, enjoy our seasonal waterfall and slowed down the farm life! Enjoy your private yard, the acreage housing our animals (donkeys, goats, pig & some ducks/rooster). The animals live off the land, so you are not responsible for caring for the animals, however, should you choose to feed them, we ask only that they eat fruits and vegetables and they will take all the love you want to throw at them. Go right inside their gate! They are simply the sweetest farm animals, but they are animals. If you have a carrot, they will gladly bump over your toddler to get to that carrot! Act responsibly!

Magic is located in the sweet, quiet, farming town of Sugar Grove (think Valle Crucis but even more laid back), a safe space and with year-round easy access (although we have to recommend 4x4 in the winter months!)

Please set aside time to just lounge at Magic, this is where your family’s mountain memories will be made!

Amazing Stay

This was our third time booking this cabin, and it was amazing! The kids adored the animals and had such a great time feeding them and loving on them. Our son did not want to leave and begged us to book again for his birthday. Such a wonderful place to stay.

Fun place to stay

I rented this cabin for some family coming to town. It was so much fun for them to see abd feed the animals on the property. The house is so cozy and comfortable. It's a wonderful place to relax and enjoy sitting outside or in . Near Valle Crucis which has a great park. Very nice!

Family Vacation to the Mountains

Mountain Magic was absolutely an amazing family vacation with our three small children. They loved the hot tub, feeding the animals, building fires, and running around in the grass! It is close enough to the ski towns to sled and ski if you choose. We went sledding one of the days but our favorite part was staying at the VRBO and building fires! I would recommend this place a million times over!

We absolutely loved the beautiful scenery surrounding the house. The farm animals were a delight and very approachable. We all enjoyed our stay and agreed we’d return to Magic Mountain as it offers so many options when planning your activities in addition to just kicking back and relaxing in a peaceful place where the birds sing.

Amazing!

Absolutely fell in love with all the animals on the property! Fed Sir Walter, Rosie and the Guinie Fowl that i named Henrietta bananas every morning! House was in great condition and the property was beautiful! Hope to stay again in the future!

The animals steal the show.

Nice, older, clean cabin. Very comfortable and within 20mins to Boone. Private setting with your own petting zoo. Our kids (and us) loved the animals. They are very docile and learn the have the routine down pat. T-Mobile reception was fine. All the supplies (except food) you need. Hint: there are more supplies under the island. Comfy furnishings and neat older antiques. reasonably close to Blowing Rock, Beech, and Sugar mtn. Hot tub was clean and offers a unique opportunity to star gaze. We had a great time during a snowy weekend.

Our second stay with more to come

This was our second stay at Mountain Magic. We knew we would have a great time. The cabin is cute and has really nice areas to chill in. The magic is the animals and this year we had 3 baby goats to fawn over. Event the gentle alpacas came in for a petting ( if bribed with food). Our 23 yo is autistic and this place was a heavenley find for us. She loves just sitting out there with the animals. All of the animals were kind and gentle with her.

We will be back!

We had a wonderful long weekend. Did some skiing and the alpine coaster but we would have been happy not leaving the property. Family has already requested to come back. Hot tub is amazing! My 6 year old was so sad to leave the animals. He loved them all but the ducks and chickens were his favs! The baby goat was mine! Great property and we have stayed at many!

Wonderful Second Stay!

We had another awesome stay at this VRBO. My youngest would live out with the goats if we let him. He is so happy with them. He talks to them and sings to them and loves giving them treats so we bring lots of apples, celery, and carrots. My teens love this place too and are already planning our next trip back to NC. We did some excursions out while there. The Valle Crucis park is awesome. My son ran there in the mornings and it walked around. We found awesome restaurants and loved exploring. We went rafting with High Mountain Expeditions too and it’s great. This property is very pei rate and perfect to just hangout there but also close to sooo many great activities and tunings to do. Loved it!

We were unable to use the gas grill as both tanks were empty. We chose not to contact the owner because of how long it might take to bring us a tank. Therefore we just used the stove with only 3 burners working. The best thing about this place were the baby goats and all the other animals. House does needs some up keep

The property is lovely. The hot tub was great, but…

The kitchen is so small it was hard to maneuver, there was no prep space. And NO dishwasher! I didn’t think to ask if there was a dishwasher…..I just assumed. You have to go through one bedroom to access the downstairs bedroom. Kind of awkward. The description was not very accurate. Overall we made it work and had a great time.

Beautiful Home, Loveable Animals and Memorable Birthday & Christmas

We fell in love with Mountain Magic eleven months before we arrived...that’s how far in advance we booked. The photos painted a picture of a vacation getaway like no other and delivered on its promises. We celebrated our daughters’ birthday and Christmas at this beautiful setting and loved every day of it. The animals stole the show with their petable demeanor and eager appetites. We all had our favorite and the snow covered ground gave us the courage to ignore what was under the snow and feed them from inside the pen. The home setup is perfect. Great floorplan made it fun for the kids in the basement floor, and easy for the grown ups in the main floors. The den occupied most of our indoor time thanks to the Christmas tree and coziness it brought. Outside time was spent walking through the hills, exploring the property, and of course plenty of time with our barnyard friends. The proximity to Boone made it easy for stocking up at the nearby Harris Teeter and a shopping trip to the general store. Thanks to the owner for such a core memory for our family!

Absolutely Magical Stay

The beauty of this property immediately draws you in and oozes relaxation. Immaculate/ tastefully and comfortably furnished . Great outdoor space and cozy inside. The animals are the sweetest and we enjoyed spending time feeding them. The hot tub was wonderful. Location was great! Close to Boone, Blowing Rock as well as grandfather mountain and the winery. Communication was very thorough and quick to respond. Highly recommend this property!
