We never even made it inside this house located up one of the most treacherous roads most folks can imagine. I drive a truck and we were never even able to make it in to the driveway.
After almost going over a cliff to get back down, I called the property manager and was told that because of strict North Carolina laws, they wouldn’t consider a refund or credit towards a future stay. I called VRBO and they put me right back in touch with the property manager and according to their staff and many reviews, this is a regular occurrence with this property. I asked if the owner was notified and was told no so I’m going to call him tomorrow in Ft. Lauderdale to discuss the situation. I have rented from VRBO since the app was invented , several trips a year but this will be the last one if we can’t come to a settlement. We had young drivers joining us for a graduation weekend and for their safety I had to find another, more expensive house at the last minute. So I had 2 VRBO rentals over the last 4 days.
Very disappointed with VRBO and especially the property manager, VACASA. If I have to spend more on an attorney than the cost of the rental I’m willing to do it because of the series of events. Completely took away from what was supposed to be a family celebration weekend.
