We had to leave a day early. There was construction going on next to us which we were not told about ahead of time. They are building more bungalows. Between the open netting at the ceiling and windows without curtains, it was noisy and we had no privacy. In addition we waited 15 minutes and didn’t get hot water for the shower the last two mornings we were there. The beach was not walking distance as advertised. You would have to walk a dusty and busy road to get there. I was honest with them about our displeasure and all I got was a “yo, really” Thankfully, our next accommodation could take us a day early.

We loved our stay in Las Avellanas. Our host, Isabela, was warm, kind and hospitable. The property was relaxing, enclosed with banana trees. Sometimes you'll hear the howling monkeys in the morning. The beach was a 10-15 min walk. We enjoyed the patio- just beware of mosquitos in dusk. It was nice to have a kitchen to use with some pots and pans- just don't leave food out because of ants. Overall, Isabel's condo was beautiful, relaxing and homey. We were impressed by the interior design of wooden vents, big windows and cute rustic furniture.

En cuestion de espacios de la villa esta bien. El acceso a las villas esta fatal es pura terrazeria seria bueno que lo arreglaran. Muchas hormigas dentro de la villa, lo que lo hace un poco incomodo la estadia. El servicio de la host muy bien una persona amable y atenta.

Great surf spot sleep location

Place was clean and welcoming. Very secluded- bring your own drinking water as they only have well water. Nice shower pressure and a/c unit. Close to playa Negra and Avellanas. You will need a vehicle to quickly get to the beaches.

Great cabin /villa by the beach!!!

Very nice small cabins —just 5, near Avellana beach just minutes away. Air conditioning, refrigerator and mini kitchenette. Hammocks provided on the patio. Very private and safe. Small convenience store nearby walking distance to pick up snacks and drinks

Errors on Expedia Description: No mountain biking on site No spa service on site No babysitting or childcare No front desk No dry cleaning/laundry service/facilities No daily housekeeping No concierge No BBQ grill Not in or near Tamarindo Location: About a 30 minute & +/-$35 taxi ride to Tamarindo On a dirt road with endless potholes which make getting to and from the property time consuming, difficult and uncomfortable No grocery store close by, have to go to Tamarindo in order to purchase groceries; there are convince stores but they don't offer fresh food It's about a mile walk to the beach, down the long, dusty, pothole road, with no lights, and no sidewalk There are a few restaurants near by but most were not open for the season yet and the ones that were open were very expensive Villa/Accommodation: Practically no living room furniture to relax on The AC is only in the bedroom and the rest of the villa is open to outside air so it's impossible to cool No matter what we did (bug spray, bug repellent plug in, bug repellent smoker, kept doors closed, turned on fans full blast) we were eaten alive inside the villa The cleaning lady only stopped by once over the 7 days we were there There are 5 villas on the property; although somewhat close together, when we were there it was extremely quiet and relaxing Summary: This place is relaxing and a true getaway but one should know what they are signing up for. I would highly recommend renting your own car.

Quaint and quiet

We really enjoyed our our bungalow at Las Avellanas. Very cute, equipped with everything we needed, great patio with 2 hammocks.....it was exactly what we wanted. Peaceful, quiet, and comfortable. A handful of great restaurants were within walking distance. The beach also a short walk...maybe 15-20 minutes. Isabel was often in touch via Whatsapp to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend!

Nice villas close to the beach

Close to the beach. Owner was very pleasant And easy to reach. Quiet and relaxing. AC in room worked very well and beds were super comfy.

Nice Hotel Close to the Beach

It is my second visit, I really like the design of the villas, they are comfortable, and the atmosphere is super quiet, which I enjoy a lot, It is located very close to Playa Avellanas, and close to other places also, easy access, now in summer the road is in quite good condition.

Beautiful

The grounds are great! You really like you are in the jungle! They have growler monkeys on the premises. So amazing to wake up to right outside your door. Relax and hang in he hammocks. The pictures really don't do this great place justice! Just a little ways from the beach! Check out Lola's and take a surf lesson. Definitely worth the time! When finding the hotel just use Waze and look up the beach and keep your eyes peeled! My favorite place so far in Costa Rica! Next door has great food!

Farther to the beach than expected.

Not a safe place. Had to bar the door from the inside at night. Wi-Fi was on and off intermittent. Bugs and spiders in the room. The bed was uncomfortable. They charge extra for AC.

Our favorite little villas

We loved our stay at las avellanas villas. The villas were well equipped, clean, and very comfortable. We loved the overall design of the space and landscaping of the property. The kitchen was very nice to have and the beds were very comfortable. The owners were super friendly and gave us great restaurant recommendations nearby and in tamarindo. The villas were close to the beach, a mini super, and some restaurants. We wish we could have taken our little cabina everywhere!

Excelente lugar para una aventura familiar. Cerca de la playa, de supermercados y restaurantes muy buenos. Aunque no tiene piscina, no hace falta. Ideal para el descanso y contacto con la naturaleza. No apto para los que buscan fiesta y compras.
