"this outstanding rustic place of natural equestrian and Belize Riverfront elegance was perfect for this man who stands outside of the crowds of normal people;
perfectly clean private cabin, with WiFi and its own refrigerator, screened-in porch with hammock and outdoor picnicking tables, and restroom with shower and toiletries… were the perfect foundation, with the most attentive of staff and surprise horseback riding and canoeing included with each stay…

"★★★★☆ Beautiful, Peaceful Resort with a Few Concerns
Mystic River Resort is absolutely gorgeous! Surrounded by nature, it’s peaceful, relaxing, and exactly what we wanted for our Belize getaway. The grounds are beautiful, and the food was very good.
A special shoutout to Lillet, who greeted us with the sweetest smile every morning at breakfast! Her warmth and kindness made our stay even more enjoyable.
A few things to be mindful of:
Dining: Everything is à la carte, so dinner can easily run $75–$100. Additional service charges and gratuity are disclosed on the menu.
Excursions: The sales approach felt pushy. On our first evening, while we were eating dinner after traveling, someone approached us about booking activities. We politely said we’d let them know, but at 7:55 PM, someone came to our room to follow up. We were already in bed and exhausted. It felt intrusive for a resort centered around relaxation.
Billing: Additional service charges and gratuity were added to a third-party excursion, although they weren’t disclosed in the brochure. The resort corrected the charges when I questioned them, but had I not reviewed our itemized receipts, we wouldn’t have known.
Overall, Mystic River is a beautiful, tranquil escape that I’d recommend. Just review your charges carefully and don’t hesitate to set boundaries.
4/5 stars — Beautiful property with room for improvement in communication and billing transparency."
"The resort has the potential to be a 5 star resort. It is lacking the polish. Overall it is a beautiful resort, loved the organic garden, and the pool is very nice. Maintainance equipment was left out through out the despite work being done for the day. The main chef was amazing but his back up needs a lot more training and experience. Noticable difference in preparation of meals. Water pressure consistently low and hard to get hot water."
"I would definitely go again. Friendly staff and I loved that the pool was accessible at all hours.Even though you're close to town, you feel disconnected from all hustle and bustle"
"Eco-tourism hotel with multiple cabin-like structures with A/C. Restaurant on premises was excellent. Massage therapy offered on site as well, was also excellent. Saw one guest there fishing along the river for tarpon. My only negative is the rock and gravel walkways—- luggage won’t roll, not for people with weak ankles, negated any use of the free bikes. But overall, this place is special. Quiet, serene, catering toward couples. Has two nice pools, mini-golf, ping pong if you bring kids."
"Really good location in the heart of downtown San Ignacio w/ private parking. All the tour companies, shopping, restaurants, and street market are right there. Coffee and bananas by the front desk in the morning. Filtered water available to refill your water bottles. Rooftop pool was a huge plus, had plenty of shade too. Negatives? Bathroom faucet was very loose/disconnected from the sink. Steps to the 2nd floor can be a challenge with luggage, and no help offered."
"The setting in the mountains is beautiful, and the place has a fun, rustic atmosphere. However, there were several disappointments during our stay.
The listing advertises air conditioning, but it’s important to understand that the rooms are screened in, so the AC does not cool the entire room. You can only really feel it when you’re lying in bed with the curtains closed. Also, the air blows directly onto your face, and there’s no way to adjust the airflow. I actually had to sleep with my head at the foot of the bed to avoid having the air blow directly on me all night.
On a positive note, the staff was incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful. They were definitely a highlight of the experience.
Unfortunately, the drinks weren’t very good, and the food was absolutely terrible. If you decide to stay here, I strongly recommend making other plans for meals rather than relying on the on-site restaurant.
Overall, it’s a fun, rustic place with a beautiful mountain setting and wonderful staff, but be prepared for a very basic experience and plan to eat elsewhere."
