"I stayed on the eve of the Norfolk show when every hotel in Norwich is booked solid. St Giles had a very expensive room left and I was forced to take it as I was in Norwich for work. The hotel is housed in a lovely building with an impossible to find, “on-site” car park (which they charge an extra £10 for!!) The breakfast was exceptional and the room was spacious but pretty basic. Overall the room was way overpriced for what it was. This might have been a price hike due to high demand? It’s one of those places that feels like it’s run for the dividends of the company that owns it rather than for the experience of the guest. If it’s the only place to stay in Norwich I wouldn’t mind going back but if there are lots of equally good hotels for half the price in Norwich - I’d go there instead."
"This is a nice, good value and well maintained and managed budget hotel.
I stayed in room 4 for five nights in June. The recently refurbished room was medium sized and was very clean.
It had an en-suite shower room with a power shower.
There was also a clothes rack with four coat hangers and some shelves, a dressing table and chair and a good sized double bed.
There was a TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a welcome chocolate bar and apple juice-a nice touch.
There was plenty of electrical sockets, some with USB ports, a hair dryer and portable electric fan.
There is no room service or phone link to reception, but I did not find these to be necessary and it obviously helps keep prices reasonable. There is no fridge.
The guy on reception was welcoming, helpful and efficient.
There are very good bus links into the centre (from outside the sorting office, two minutes walk away) for those without a car; alternatively, It is a twenty minute walk to the city centre.
Recommended for the discerning, realistic budget traveller."
"Wellington Apartments are excellent value for money, clean, with god facilities and centrally placed. Only small downside is dropping off luggage and then parking the car, and the short walk between. Good when sunny by maybe not when raining. Close to the Cathedral and medieval centre with lots of eateries and sights"
"Hotel was attached to the football stadium and found that it was quiet when I visited in June.Room was okay, just a nosey toilet cistern which the manager was going to get sorted. Only gripe was bedroom menu for the downstairs restaurant indicated fish pie, but when I went down to order it was a different menu.
All in all a good hotel"
"An historic hotel situated close to the cathedral. The public rooms are very well appointed and the staff were helpful. My room on the 4th floor was comfortable, thought the bathroom was rather small. The hotel served an acceptable cooked breakfast."
"Very impressive site, looks like a mansion from exterior, . The entrance is very impressive too, very clean and reception is well located with very friendly helpful staff. My room was very large with very good facilities , overlooking a garden courtyard. Lovely room. My only two concerns were that it was close to a gravel car park and the noise of the gravel in the car wheels was a bit loud at times, bearing in mind that this is also a golf club.. and the other was that the fridge was very load but I overcame that by unplugging it as I wasn't using it. And turned it back on before leaving the room on check out day... The restaurant was very nice and the food was excellent as was the the waiters and waitresses. Overall had a great stay"
"It has reputation of being noisy, especially on Friday & Saturday nights when the nightclub below the hotel is in full swing.
However, although it is noisy, I was given earplugs by the reception staff and I slept reasonably well.
I was in room 5, to the rear of the hotel at the rear, and it was very quiet on the other nights."
