Positives: excellent room, probably because I booked the premier grand room. Great location as it’s about 5mins walk to Shinjuku station and there are so many restaurant and eateries right across the road.
Negatives: every step of the way, they tried to get more money from us. First, upon check-in, they told me I only indicated 2 pax instead of 3 pax when I booked the premier grand room with 2 queen beds. So I had to top up another 24,900 Yen for the third person on the spot. When we tried to upgrade another superior room that we booked to the premier grand with 2 queen beds as well, they first charged us 93,600 Yen, and then upon collection of keys, said they didn’t charge us enough and wanted to charge another amount. VIP access said we get free self-parking, which was why I booked them. But they tried to tell me it’s only free for a night and I have to pay for the other 3 nights. No upgrades for VIP access. In fact, I’ve never managed to get any upgrades for VIP access properties anywhere in the world even though I’m a Gold member, so probably it’s Expedia that has no clout. At the end they waived the additional amount for the upgraded room and the parking fees, but it really leaves a sour taste. Not gonna stay here again.
