This might be one of the worst hotels in Tulum. The rooms are old and have a musty smell to them with torn curtains on the windows and rusted sliding glass doors with keys that are difficult to open/close. There is no staff onsite before 10 am or after 6 pm, and accessing the property is difficult as you have to use a QR code to go through a turnstile and then through a door that leads you into a "alley" to get inside. There is no real lobby. The two restaurants onsite are grossly overpriced with a cup of coffee costing over $7 and cocktails between $20-24. The rooftop pool is small, unkempt and wasn't operational when I was there. You need to make a reservation to use the gym, and it doesn't have fans or AC. The service at the hotel is poor. There policy states that they change the bed linen every 3rd day and had to ask that they change mine after my 4th night, which they failed to do! I do not feel the property, service or amenities warrant the prices they are charging.

Hotelito Azul is NOT a nice hotel in any regards. The rooms are dated and have a musty smell to them with old, torn curtains on the windows. There is a very small area to hang a few clothes but not closet or any other place to store clothes. The website pictures are deceiving as the room looked great online but was not nearly as nice in reality. Their policy states that they will change the bed linens every third day, and after my 4th night sleeping there I had to ask them to change my bed linens, which they failed to do! There is no one onsite at the hotel to assist with anything before 10 am or past 6 pm - everything is done via WhatsApp and the responses are boiler plate and do not provide any real service. The roof pool which looks great on their website, is in fact, not nice at all. It was very small, unkempt and was not operational while I was there. Reservations need to be made in advance to use the gym, which makes ease of using it challenging and the gym does not have fans or AC, which makes it uncomfortable to work out in the hot/humid climate. The restaurants onsite are grossly overpriced - with a cup of coffee costing over $7 and a basic cocktail in the $22-24 range. The property, service and ambiance do not warrant these prices. Entry into the hotel is challenging off the street - where you need to use a QR code to gain entrance via a turnstile and then a door that goes into a narrow "alley" to enter the property. It's not convenient or very safe.

This place was paradise. Stayed for 4 nights in a beachside suite with my daughter. So peaceful and safe. Often left the door unlocked. Hammock on the balcony and easy barefoot walk to the beach cabanas. The staff were kind and helpful. Fabian took care of security and maintenance and checked us in when we arrived after hours. Alex was in the cafe and was cheerful and helpful each day. Griselda cleaned our room for us and was a delight to talk to. I can’t wait to return!

The hotel shows significant neglect: aging, peeling, rotting wood, and dangerous conditions, especially on the rooftop terrace. The rooftop was cluttered with broken furniture, rusty metal, and a loose pool handrail. At night, the area was dark, and after swimming, I nearly hit my head—navigating slippery stairs without handrails in darkness is a serious safety hazard. Operational failures included a dead battery in the key on arrival, room service only coming around 6–7 PM until I complained, a faulty terrace door, and no hot water—just warm water after running the tap for minutes. This is labeled “eco-friendly,” but it feels like an excuse for poor upkeep. Communication was only via WhatsApp. In a boutique hotel, guests expect personal interaction. Instead, multiple WhatsApp contacts sent reminders, including repeated check-out messages. The manager, Samantha, never addressed issues personally. Instead I was dismissed disrespectfully. I was even told the pool was "closed," which was untrue—other guests were also on the rooftop. On arrival, I was even informed via WhatsApp that the pool was available—so this excuse was simply made after the fact. A drink voucher was offered but only for alcoholic beverages. It’s inconsiderate to assume all guests drink alcohol. The service staff in the restaurant and beach bar were genuinely friendly, and the rooms were pleasant. But beyond that, the experience was unacceptable due to severe management, maintenance, and safety failures.

Our room was incredibly clean - Grismerelda was fantastic at making our space spotless and also greeted us every morning with a basket with a hot thermos of coffee and every afternoon with a spotless room. She has a great sense of humor as well! The staff was amazing - Julio and Jorge were generous and attentive. We have small children who did not travel with us this trip, so I would say that if you are traveling with children, this is not the hotel for you - there is a pool but it is on the rooftop after lots of stairs and was cold (in February- so understandable) and we saw no families with children when we stayed. However, for an adult getaway, it was wonderful.

This is a lovely hotel, right on Tulum Beach. We loved our room. Our housekeeper Griselda and our server Alex were wonderful, as was the rest of the staff. If we travel to Tulum again at some point, we would love to stay here again!

My stay at Hotelito Azul was incredible. It’s an ideal place for families. The morning coffee service was a very nice touch. Communication was mainly via WhatsApp with the team, which made everything very easy and convenient. Before our arrival, we completed the digital check-in and received a QR code for access, which was very practical. The staff was always kind and attentive.

We were looking for a beautiful treehouse on the beach and Hotelito Azul did not disappoint! Griselda and all of the staff helped make this an incredible vacation. My partner and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Me hospedé en Hotelito Azul en la zona hotelera de Tulum y tuve una experiencia muy bonita. Desde que llegamos, el staff fue súper amable y atento en todo momento, siempre dispuestos a ayudar y hacer que nuestra estancia fuera más cómoda. Me tocó la habitación 22 con vista al mar y la verdad estuvo muy bien. Despertar viendo el mar y escuchando las olas fue algo increíble. La habitación estaba cómoda y perfecta para relajarse y disfrutar del ambiente tan bonito que tiene el hotel. Sin duda volvería a hospedarme aquí. Gracias a todo el equipo por hacernos sentir tan bien durante nuestra estancia.
