Nice staff, big room with nice balcony. Breakfast fine. Annoying sharp small step into bathroom, almost broke my toes twice. Small lizards in room and large ones on the balcony, perhaps to be expected on the edge of the jungle. Hot water available most of the time. Mineral water chiller/heater in room was great. As with most of Ubud, the road is slightly perilous for walking - no space for pedestrians, open drainage ditches and limited lighting. Sign outside is not obvious and easily missed.

Alas Petulu was a great little hotel to stay in. Super friendly and helpful staff. Located on a small road off the main street of Ubud - so it's peaceful and quiet, yet very accessible to the town centre. Housekeeping services daily, and the rooms are kept very clean. Nice pools, and good breakfasts every morning too!

A hidden Oasis in Ubud
we loved the swimming pool area and the greenery, it was so quite and private that it didn't feel like nit was few minutes to Ubud centre. Great experience overall.

Room wasn't properly prepared when we were granted access ( Used towels left hanging in bathroom - and who knows what else? ). Our room (family room) looking a bit worn, though does look to be one of the earlier structures. Noisy dogs barking at night. Restraunt only open for breakfast but breakfast is OK. Great pool and landscaping. 10 min' walk to town. Great drinking water unit in room, every place should have one. Staff friendly. Overall a good experience but tainted by questionable room prep'.

Family friendly hideaway in Central Ubud.
One of the best places I’ve stayed in with my two sons. They had their own room, our room on top floor with balcony and amazing view of the gorgeous gardens. The pools were amazing! Made extra special by the wonderful staff.

Very poor customer service-- waste of money
Very disappointing.... I stayed there twice previously and had an urgent matter come up and they refused to make any changes or cancellations. They continued to send annoying messages asking me about arranging pricey transport. After I didn't show up, they continued to send me messages about my stay. It's like they have no attention to the customer whatsover and don't value return customers. I won't be back.

We are in or fifty’s and stayed 7 days we like to walk all the time we are here, the hotel is at one end of town so on your travels you can take in plenty of the town and shopping, we came to unwind and that’s exactly what we got from hotel staff and the pool very rewarding and will return next year

Facility and staff are good.
Nice place to stay with easy walk to downtown. The rooms were a good size. The furniture is dated. The breakfast was good and sizeable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, and it is not the fault of the owners/staff, the local roosters next door are ridiculous and woke my wife and I up every day very early- and they would not stop!!! For this reason alone I would be hesitant to stay here again. The walk to town can be tricky. There are only short distances that have sidewalks down the road you must walk to get downtown and the traffic can be significant at times and this can make you feel a little unsafe sometimes- you just have exercise caution. I never felt unsafe from anything in 2 weeks of vacation in Bali except for walking along this road at night simply due to the traffic sharing the road with you.

Very good accommodation in location not far from Ubud centre. Owners helpful and friendly. Pool great, rooms very good and hotel gardens nice. Breakfast was good with 3 options offered. Stayed in family room which had some stairs which may not be suitable for really young kids and neighbours dog barking annoying in early hours Would stay again.

Balinese hospitality shines through at this wonderful boutique hotel. I think there are 9 rooms, sort of "villa" style. Our room was immaculate! also spacious with a lovely view of the grounds. We had the one bedroom suite with the balcony. A la carte Breakfast daily was included and very good. Easy walk of a few "blocks" into town, although the road has no sidewalk so you have to watch out for the motorbikes. There were a few miscues with housekeeping (bath and hand towels first day, no hand towels second day, only hand towels 3rd day) but these were quickly resolved. The staff is gracious and friendly. Highly recommend!

Nice hotel with beautiful space.
The family cottage is very nice ans spacious for 4 people but no common space inside. However, there is porch. The hotel space is very nice with 2 pools and nature. The breakfast took quite a long time to serve, even with no guest. Good location, walkable distance to city center but...it might be quite far for some people. Wifi is a disappointment. Rarely work for me with iPhone but somehow it seemed to work better with android.

Stayed in the 'honeymoon' suite which had the private pool. Was lovely but a little tired. blinds didnt work properly and couch was not comfortable. Bed was good and pool was lovely though. Breakfast was fine, but two tiny sausages for 22,000r should not have been charged extra! Lovely gardens too and didnt discover the gym until leaving, so was not shown the facilities on arrival.

This place is OK...the 2 rooms that we had (pool villa and standard room) both smelt very bad and the mildew was unhealthy. The staff were pleasant when you could find someone which was annoying. The communal pool was very nice, however, the pool lounges were disgustingly old and falling apart. Overall moderate or OK. Breakfast very limited and again just OK. Walking distance to main area but a bit removed.

Hidden gem
There was a construction view from the first unit .but they moved us to a lovely garden suite for the next night.this little resort is a pleasure to be at .The grounds are gorgeous ,with an impressive stone temple at the front and amazing stone work around a great pool.Units are a good size and you can walk to Ubud 's main street in less than 10 mins.There are a few stairs to deal with ,especially going up/down to the pool.

Convenient Location, Not so good service
As we understood that Bali service is more often inconsistent than not, it became frustrating that breakfast takes 1 hour to get ready -- as we observed that there is only 1 person assigned in the kitchen (from prepping food items to cooking them to serving them). Also, as we were ordering the same breakfast items each day (we stayed for 4 days) and had our breakfast the same time, the food and drinks that came were inconsistent -- 6 pieces of sausage (with charge) became 4 and on another day was only 5 with the last one split in the middle to make it look like 6 pieces! Another example is the amount of coffee and juice being served, it being only a single-serve. Extra bed also not comfortable at all. And aircon not functioning fully. Also, they turn off your electricity without proper advise - we went out for dinner and left the airconditioning running (as it doesn't make the room cold at all and it the humidity outside is crazy) only to come back to the room with turned off electricity! They just turned it off, no other items were done in the room - not cleaned, towels not replaced, garbage not taken out - just the electricity/aircon turned off!

A great find in Ubud.
It is a little walk (10-15 mins) to the centre on a road without a pavement but it is still well located. It is in a gorgeous setting surrounded by tall trees and well-maintained gardens. We had a room with a private pool that was a treat especially as the main pool was also lovely. When we arrived our private pool was a little dirty but we found out this was because the electricity had gone off the day before and turned off the filter system, once that was sorted it was beautiful and we used it everyday. The breakfast was good, quite standard for Bali – eggs, toast, jam, juice. Staff were friendly and helpful but the reception desk was often unmanned and it was sometimes hard to find people, that didn’t spoil our enjoyment though. There was a great veggie café called Fussy Bird about 25 metre away which was good for lunch and juices. Our room was a good size and the bathroom was massive. It was clean and well maintained but felt a little more rustic than the pictures show. It still felt like good value for money and nicer than a lot of the usual Bali accommodation, we really enjoyed our time in Ubud and Alas Petulu.

The staff were superb, however, lack of small items such as plates extra cups, glasses and cutlery was inconvenient, there is no kitchenette in any of the rooms and the towels supplied each day were very thin and more appropriate for polishing the car. Views were beautiful and the pools excellent.

Great place for family to stay. Easy walk to main road for dinner and to markets. Practically had the pool to ourselves! Very friendly and helpful staff. Liked that the kids had single bed instead of having to share.m double. Only thing was steps not proportioned - so big to step up & bathroom was downstairs. They were also renovating while we were there but didn't know at time of booking.

Good things - friendly staff, room was clean, air-conditioned Not so good - no phone in room (eg. to contact reception), location not convenient if walking (and felt unsafe walking to accom. at night), description said 24-hour check-in and also tour desk but staff were often difficult to find and tour desk service consisted of dialling number and handing us the phone, also the whole complex is smoked out for mosquitoes once per week (without warning, smoke was so thick and smelly we thought there was a fire...) All round, not terrible but not as expected either. Wouldn't stay again.

We stayed one night on our way to nothern Bali, very positive experience. Calm and beautiful, clean. Only a few rooms in different settings, we had a 2 floor house for our family. Very nice helpful staff, breakfast served at your house. Close to town but still quiet and relaxing.
