The staff are very friendly and helpful, the facilities are dated and need some attention. overall it is in a good location and is quiet, close to everything. The gardens are very nice, but the hotel restaurant is not that good, luckily there are other options close to hand. All being said I would stay there again.

Close to monkey Forest. Lots of choices for dining. Pool was pleasant, simple. Staff helpful. Rooms spacious and clean. Lots of trees and warm tropical weather soi there are a lot of ants, mostly outside but as I have found over here always a few but not bothersome. For the location and weather you need to expect some. I would stay again and so would other members of family with me.

Happy place
We had a great stay. The first night we had a problem with insects in our room and were immediately upgraded to a pool room. The owner and staff were very helpful. Some repairs and upgrading were being done which were no bother. Excellent breakfasts.

Frustrating
Had no hot water for first two nights and no water at all for third. No communication from staff and no phone in room so constantly walking to reception. Very frustrating! Rooms old but very spacious. Great location

My stay at Putri Ayu Cottages was awesome! The location is incredible for walking to great restaurants and places for yoga. Nice big clean room with water, what else could you ask for! The front desk staff are so great; had a problem with my card and they were very patient and helpful getting things sorted out. Great value and great location!

We had read some negative comments but due to the cemtral location we booked anyway. On arrival staff were helpful and we were pleasantly suprised with grounds and pool area. Our room was large with a pool view but could do with a bit of redecoration. The complimentary breakfast was adequate but we ate all other meals elsewhere. Overall we had a good stay, it was good value for money and is a good location to explore, walking distance to all the must see things. The hotel could do with some redecoration and updating but you get what you pay for and its reflected in the price. Overall we were happy with our stay.

First review was not posted. Our original booking was for 6/1-6/5 and then 6/5-6/7. We contacted Expedia and notified them of our flight change and Expedia said the hotel would agree to refund any unused nights after our check out. We arrived on 6/3 to check in and the front desk had assured me that they are aware of the change and will handle the unused nights upon check out. Check in process: easy, they gave us tea while we waited. The first room was either 607/608. Don't be fooled by the pictures. The hotel is outdated and not as clean. The AC in this room was not that strong. There were spider webs, dead cockroach under our bed, bathroom drain was dirty. Cups in there were stained and the room smelled like mildew. We were in this room from 6/3-6/5 and were only given one towel for the entire stay. There was no face towels or tissues as well. The sheets had yellow stains on them. he second room was upstairs (609). AC was a lot better. Pool view and right next to the lobby. The room had an open shower like the last and a tub. There was hand soap but no body soap. Make sure to bring your own or buy it when you're out. Same as the last room, there were spider webs, dust and the netting on that covers the top of the bed was never cleaned. You can see all the dust and debris that has collected over time when you're laying flat on the bed looking up. Wifi keep getting disconnected. Been in constant communication with Expedia and hotel will not refund unused nights as promised

We booked this online for 3 people in 1 room and had already been charged for an extra person fee yet when we got there, there was only a double bed in the room and they tried to make us pay per night for an extra mattress just on the floor for the 3rd person which was a dirty mattress at that! We then said we would leave and then they got a manager on the phone who said we didn’t have to pay for the extra mattress (which we had already paid for anyway) so we decided to stay to avoid hassle. The location was good and room spacious but a shame they tried to charge us more as it ruined it abit for us.

The hotel is close to everything which make it a good place to stay however some of their rooms the air conditioning or the shower is not working properly. The staff are all friendly and they will do anything to make you feel comfortable..Overall, if not for the air con and shower, our stay would be great..

Lovely little spot, not geared up to expect a late check in, despite me sending messages to the hotel and calling them from the airport and on arrival with no response. Finally woke somebody up to check in. Great location, not easy to find as only one road in and out and google maps sends you wrong way to a non access point. Lovely clean swimming pool, helpful staff, would recommend for sure.

The hotel was quaint but had everything that was needed. Pool was clean, grounds were well kept and very lush. The mosquito net for the bed was quite dirty with many holes. The hotel could use some updating. The staff was friendly and wonderful. The location was great! Bisma Is wonderful and much more quiet then right off of the Main Street in ubud. It was a great price. Breakfast was fresh and sufficient. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Fair, definitely not great
Hotel is quiet & off the main street, this also means it is a fair walk to get anywhere. We stayed here for 5 nights to be close to the monkey forest, which was quite a hike away and up a big hill to get back. The distance from the monkey forest is as the crow flies. For the price of our Super Deluxe room, I was expecting much more and wish I had booked somewhere closer- or one of the cheaper rooms on the ground floor. The balcony was shared and the noise from the pool quite disturbing when trying to get a toddler to sleep. Only 3 working TV channels and the bath was filthy, with no plug. My request for this to be fixed was ignored and I cleaned the bath myself- although the plug was still too small so I didn't get to enjoy the bath I had been waiting for. Cleaning staff left my room unlocked twice and did not come the day before we left when i was advised that there was only one key to our room. The first day would have been better to know this. Even the first day when I left the key at reception they did not come until I came back for my child to have a nap. Not great timing when I had been out for some 4 hrs. In all my travelling, I didn't realise how disappointing it it to come back to an un-tended room as it has never happened before. Ever. But was every day here. After travelling with a 2yo for 2 months in Indonesia I have never been so disappointed and spent most of the time kicking myself.

Good service and gardens, but room needs work
The gardens and pool area are well maintained and beautiful. Our room on the other hand was worn out in terms of needing a lick of paint on the walls, and it had an awful musty smell, including the bed and bedding (humidity in Ubud). Staff need to air out the rooms more often, and take care with more with attention to detail with cleaning (old toilet paper around the drain in the bathroom), like they do with their gardens. Otherwise I would say that the facilities were nice.

Convenient to Monkey Forest, not much else
We opted for the "Super Deluxe" room but there was nothing deluxe about it. The room itself had no basic facilities, not even a rubbish bin or a chair. The mosquito netting surrounding the bed was stained and visibly dirty, and I was too nervous to open it up at night for fear that it had never been washed. The housekeeper wasn't reliable with providing us with towels, and when we arrived desperate for a shower there was no towels in the room. When we tried to contact the reception about this the phone provided no information or instructions on how to contact the reception. The housekeeper also turned off the air conditioner during the day - this sounds small but it was a big deal on a 37•C day. The walls of the rooms were glass windows so when we returned to our room with no air conditioning on a sweltering hot day it was awful. The room had bugs in it, they were like giant ants. I tried to put this down to "oh it's just Bali", but the other hotels I've stayed in whilst on this same trip have managed to provide rooms that didn't have bugs. I can only assume that they came in through the holes the panels of the door. Don't even bother with the breakfasts, they were awful and TINY portions. They couldn't even get lemongrass tea right - serving me literally hot water with a stick of lemongrass, an insult to all the marvelous lemongrass tea I've had in this country. We also attempted to use the advertised shuttle service and was told that it was not operational Avoid!

Good location, okay rooms
Our view of this hotel is mixed. The location is very good, with a 5 minute walk to main street Monkey Forest Road and Monkey Forest attraction. Therefore close to good selection of restaurants and shops. On one hand the hotel condition is aging with dim ligting, holes in the mosquito nets, mouldy ceiling in bathroom. Hotel breakfast nothing to brag about. Positives of room is spacious and reasonably clean and pool okay too.

Misleading photos. Not worth the money
We had to cancel our booking immediately as the rooms were dirty, warn down and covered in mold - literally had one of the rooms dripping water from a massive mold patch on the ceiling. They attempted to accomidate us and give us a better room but they were booked out and could not.
The moldy dripping ceiling
Condition of the walls

It was a last minute reservation and when I got there the staff was unaware and it took them a out 20 minutes to prepare my room. When I got to my room it had an overpowering stench of air freshener and the walls were dingey. The room felt isolated and uninviting as it was the last room all the way at the back of the hotel. The bathroom was digusting. There was soap scum and dirt visible on the bathtub. I showered in flip flops that night. The bathroom counter was gross filled with hair when I wiped it off with tissue and toothpaste residue on the cups in there. I was grossed out but it was better than my previous hotel. They were kind enough however, to drop me off and pick me up in town as well as drop me off to my destination after I checked our.

First day was not too flash at all but improved! Service wasn't great, frequently having to ask for towels and requiring about no hot water or leaking appliances, one of the workers kept pushing us everyday to do tours with him and wouldn't take no for an answer. Overall the stay was okay but service was poor. Wouldn't recommend for first time travellers

Ubud hotel
We stayed at the Putri Ayu Cottages in Ubud for 3 nights. It's in a perfect location off the main road and a short walk to everything. We upgraded our room from a deluxe to a super deluxe which for the small cost difference was well worth it. The staff were friendly, the super deluxe room was big with a mosquito net which was needed, great spacious balcony, the bathroom was dark and dated and not very clean. Breakfast is very basic but is adequate. Worth the money to stay here as the cost was very reasonable.

Clean hotel for great price
Stayed for 4 nights while in Ubud. Room was very spacious and clean. Nothing extravagant but for the price couldn't go wrong. Great location as walking distance to the monkey forest, market, and variety of restaurants and shops. Staff welcoming and polite. Gusti defiantly treated us as family rather than strangers - always trying to help when we needed it.

Good location
We stayed here for a week and loved exploring Ubud. The hotel is situated at the end of quite a long, rocky road, if u turn right when leaving the hotel it takes around 5 minutes to walk to town, 2 minutes to monkey forest. So rather good location. Breakfast is average at best, choice of watered down juice or slightly off fruit (pineapple/watermelon/papaya) NOT BOTH. Choice of bland green banana pancakes and eggs, which we got very nearly raw when we asked for boiled eggs. The toast, as everywhere in Bali comes without crust (or flavour) Mosquito net did not fit around bed, so we had to tuck it in all the way around the mattress, still didn't stop the mosquitos from getting in and biting us in the night. Pool was nice, except the pump stopped working for a few days and looked gross, so we were told we should swim in the hotel next doors pool, which was actually nicer. The bathroom was a bit outdated, but reasonably clean. All in all we slept comfortably, no bugs! And quite close to everything we needed, the hotel also offers a free shuttle down the road into town, and are helpful with any tours u might want to do. Rafting was great for instance for only 50 aud pp.

Ants in food and 4 occasions. They didnt even care when I should them my pancakes had 20 ants in it. How do u not noticed that.avoid this place.

I spent 5 nights so I got to know the place well. Positives Huge rooms Good location, only a short walk to the monkey forest but nice and quiet. Great spa located just across the road Negatives The room and bathroom could have been cleaner, there was cobwebs and dirt in the corners The mosquito nets had holes in them, which resulted in mosquitos getting in every night! The pool is about the quarter of the size it looks in the picture. The staff are very nice, didn't impress me as much as some other places. I would say might find better but it is cheap and at the end of the day theres so much to do in ubud, you don't spend much of your time there any way.

Quite friendly stay in Ubud.
We stayed at the Putri Ayu Resort for one week. We had a nice room near thepool.Rooms were very spacious and clean. Breakfast was plentiful with fresh fruit, juice, toast and eggs.(Eddie said a littlebit of bacon would have been welcomed), Plenty of tea and coffee. As I was there torecouperate after an operation I basically stayed at the resort for the7 days. We were a little out of town so they provided a free shuttle service, There were 2 massage and therapy businesses operating across the road. Half way through the week we found a lovely warung about 100 metres up the road.. (the one next door was not recomended after one visit.)

Filthy!!
Booked this 'four star' hotel as a last resort, I wish I hadn't bothered! The rooms are huge, but are absolutely filthy! The lamp shades were thick with dust inside, the bathroom tiles and curtains were mouldy and the furnishings were tatty and unkept. The bed linen looked clean however my pillow smelt extremely musty. The pool has been refurbished and looks superb, but there are only 2 sunbeds for the guests to use and the floor is too uneven to lie comfortably on. The wifi did not work once. The breakfast was appalling - despite paying I walked out and went to a local restaurant! No minibar, tea/coffee facilities or tv in room. Electrics are dodgy as the sockets come out of the wall. The staff are friendly but I think it's more of a one-man job and the guy just cannot maintain the property. I would not stay here or recommend again.
