Arrived late afternoon to a welcoming and warm, clean cottage. Stayed here 15 years ago and always said we would return. Setting is wonderful with easy access to the lake (has a shingle shoreline). Great for sitting by a campfire and watching the stars on a clear night and listening to the owls, but wrap up warm if you're stay is in the winter! Tucked away and surrounded by trees, this place is a comfort blanket for the soul. Take some bird food and a feeder and you'll be entertained by the local wildlife directly outside the kitchen window whilst having breakfast. Squirrels, Nuthatches, Woodpeckers, Robins, various other birds and, if you're lucky, even a cheeky stoat might make an appearance!
The cottage has everything you need for your stay. Very well equipped kitchen - just add food. Cosy lounge, especially when the log burner is pressed into service (logs/kindling available locally down in Coniston village). Comfortable bed too, with plenty of spare blankets if required. If you fancy eating out then plenty of good places locally and a little further afield. Ideally located for visiting The Langdales, Ambleside and Windermere.
Customer service at Tarn and Fell Escapes excellent. Prompt and helpful responses to our queries.
If you're looking for a cosy, well equipped little bolthole, then this is the place. We are already planning our third stay.
Would just advise caution if using the outside steps to the upper floor - very slippery. 'Tis the lake district after all. All in all, a great little place to 'get away from it all'.
