Great Mini-Vaca!
The cottage was wonderful. The weather was exceptional, for viewing the solar eclipse! The Hostess, Ritamarie, was outstanding! She made my stay extra special for my birthday week vacation. The short walk to the secluded oceanfront was a nice highlight for my stay.

Serene Location
This property is well appointed and in a great location. Just a few minutes walk to the beach. It's easy to get around and close to area attractions while being far enough that the environment is quiet and relaxing.

Lovely.
The upstairs apartment was well stocked, even had a container labeled "In case you forgot" with items such as toothpaste. There were interesting books and Virginia Beach visitors information available. The kitchen was stocked with a few spices, lots of pot and pans, and dishes. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay.

Beautifully decorated little cottage apartment.
This beautiful little apartment was just as advertised. The host thought of everything you might need. Access to the beach was very close by. I am very fussy about cleanliness & it met my standards. Beautifully decorated & comfortable. Felt like a little home away from home. We tried 4 of the hosts recommended restaurants & they were all very good! We would stay again!

Delightful
What a lovely cottage! Rita Marie was so welcoming. Introduced me to Petie and gave me a personal tour of her adorable she shed. Her booklet with a list of recommended restaurants was point on. Loved every restaurant we had time to try. Relaxing, comfortable. Easy walk to ocean. If it hadn’t been so hot, we would have walked more often. Highly recommend. Thanks for the delightful home for our vacation.

great beach house in quiet neighborhood
This property has everything you would need for a great vacation. The beach is 1 block away, plenty of space to sit along the oceanfront. The apartment was immaculate, and the house had an outdoor shower to remove all sand from a day at the beach. Virginia Beach oceanfront is about 3 miles away and easily accessible by bicycle (no parking fees). VB has great biking/walking trails so you are away from traffic. This was a great stay, and RitaMarie was a great host! Looking forward to visiting again. Anthony

Excellent Summer Hide-a-way
My partner and I stayed at the North End Beach Cottage Apartment for a week & the experience was excellent! It is only a block & the walkway onto the sand from the beach which is clean and not very populated. The apartment itself is well thought out, had everything we needed, and even had extra toiletries in case we had forgotten something. We loved having a quiet oasis away from the family we were visiting. Plus the mascot Petie is an adorable pup!

A little slice of heaven
Ritamarie truly does it right! This cottage has warmth, comfort and is close to everything. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit, the porch space and close proximity to the beach. Shiplap Cottage had everything you need for a time away from home. Amenities provided were truly great. We would definitely return.

Amazing Cottage and Beach Accessibility
My daughter and I came to Shiplap Cottage for a Birthday/ Mother’s Day weekend. Rita Marie was a friendly and accommodating host and we had a relaxing time both in her cottage and exploring the beautiful beach area. 15yr anniversary trip
Ritamarie is an amazing host. She was there if we had any problems. She gave us great recommendations for restaurants to eat at to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. The property was just the perfect size for the two of us. Everything we needed was provided for us. The property is in a great location and just a short 5 minute walk to the beach.

Cozy, clean, well-appointed, near beach -- perfect!
We've stayed here three times now and have thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It's such a clean, quiet, compact, pretty little apartment with a great view of the well-attended lawn and garden backyard. Located in a nice neighborhood away from, but an easy drive to, the hubbub of Virginia Beach. First Landing State Park is just around the corner, providing a terrific hiking locale. It's a short walk to the beach through a very well manicured garden path and dunes -- a real treat for us gardeners. The beach itself is wide, well-maintained, and not crowded. It's the perfect place for a couple looking for a quiet getaway near the beach.

Great location!

Perfect Location
This place was so nice and cozy. The host was very helpful and responded quickly to any questions we had. The location of the house was about a 2 minute walk to the beach. Any supplies ypu needed for the beach were included as well as anything you needed to cook or grill out. Will definitely be booking again!

Wonderful Visit in March!
Our stay at Shiplap cottage was perfect. The second-floor apartment was just right for two people. The neighborhood was very quiet and only a short four-minute walk to a beautiful beach. There were few people at the beach, so we felt we had it all to ourselves with the shorebirds and dolphins. There is a beautiful historic lighthouse at the end of the street, and we enjoyed visiting nearby First Landing State Park and Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. FIVE STARS FOR SURE!

The PERFECT Getaway
The upstairs apartment is absolutely gorgeous. Perfect for 2 and with the pull put bed, even more. So close to the beach you can hear the waves. Ritamarie is incredibly sweet and pleasant and Petie is so cute!

This rental was everything we could ask for. It was exactly like the pictures, very clean, and in a great location. Ms. Ritamarie was very accommodating and willing to assist with anything we needed. Great Location at a Good Price
My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay here. The walk to the beach was short and easy, hardly a block away. The rental had just about everything we needed (I would suggest adding an ice cream scoop and some larger kitchen knives to the utensil drawer :) ) and nothing we didn't. Our hostess was pleasant at every interaction. We loved being near the ocean again and this rental really fit the bill for us!

Perfect vacation for two at Shiplap Cottage!

We had a fantastic weeks stay. Accommodations had everything that you could possibly need. Location to the beach was a 2-3 minute walk away. Loved the North End location, since it was away from the much busier center of Virginia Beach. Would definitely recommend staying here!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay. Rita Marie is an helpful lovely host. The cozy place is perfect for two, situated in a beautiful neighborhood one block from the beach and a 5 minute drive to the trails at First Landing. The place is lovely with good appliances, comfortable bed and furniture , plenty of closet space, and everything you need in a kitchen. It’s pretty and homey. We would definately stay there again.

The beach cottage is ideally located near the beach, just a short walk across the street to the beach. The cottage is very clean and well maintained. It has the essentials for a week stay. Communication with the owner was easy and I'm sure that if we needed anything she would be quick to respond. The only negative is that we found the bed to be uncomfortable. Not so much that we couldn't sleep though. We would stay here again. Thanks Ritamarie!

This one bedroom apartment is located away from the bustle of the boardwalk but is minutes from the beach and a large park. It has everything you need. Restaurants and shopping are close by via car. We highly recommend this property.

Wonderful experience!
One of my favorite rentals so far! Ritamarie's apartment is exactly as described. Very clean and beautifully decorated. I picked this apartment for it's location at the North End of Virginia Beach, and I was not disappointed. I particularly loved that it was a short bike ride or walk to First Landing State Park, and only 2-3 minute walk across the street to the beach. We'll be back!

Perfect “Cove”
For me, a cove is a place of rest and safety. My stay provided just that in the middle of February. The apartment was so clean and without any musty smells that are often associated with beach houses. Winter is my favorite time to be at the Beach. As a long time Virginia Beach resident, now living in Asheville, I knew the location is at the quietist section of the North End. I look forward to a return stay.

Peaceful, Calm Paradise
The Shiplap Cottage was absolute perfection! From the place itself to the location just one block from the beach to the immenities provided, my stay was perfectly cozy and relaxing. The place is well decorated and has all the essential amenities one could need. Upon arriving, there was champagne and cupcakes provided, which was a great way to start a fantastic stay! When an issue arose with the TV not working, Ritamarie was quick to respond; I would definitely book this place again in the future!

Simply Delightful!
I needed a quiet getaway, and this was PERFECT! I appreciated the ease of the registration process. The property is a quiet quaint, close walk to the beach (less than 5 min), with friendly neighbors. The pictures on VRBO accurately portray the cleanliness of the this cozy cottage. The owner provides a list of wonderful local places to visit and makes herself available for any questions or concerns. Overall, I encountered NO problems during my visit. The highlight of my trip was meeting Petie (the property mascot), which is a must! I'm looking forward to returning again. Thank you Ritamarie for making my very FIRST VRBO experience the BEST!
